Sweet sweet lady . She was the head of my suicide support group. . Appreciate Mariette ♥️She really helped me a lot with her group . I went in 2007 . I lost my husband and was beyond grieved .
Another great documentary. Mariette Hartley is one the most versatile actresses of all time! I loved her in everything she played in. Thank you for showcasing her
They had the greatest chemistry i had ever seen in those Polaroid commercials. I, like many back then thought that they were actually married to each other
Good to hear from you Jerry! I was just thinking about you a couple days ago hoping you were doing well. It's always good to hear your voice! I very much enjoyed the video. God bless you and your family Sir.
I loved her in the 2 Columbo episodes she appeared , one with Jack Cassidy and Mickey Spillane “Publish or Perish” (1974) and another with Ruth Gordon “ Try and Catch Me”(1977) Simply a beautiful lady ! Thank you for another insightful CZcams post 👍
Mariette Hartley is a gem. I was always happy to see her appear in a tv show. The Polaroid commercials with James Garner were always a joy to watch, almost like a very short recurrent sitcom. She was just so charming in her first Gunsmoke episode, ''Cotter's Girl'' that it became my favorite episode of the whole long running series. Beautiful and talented woman. Thank you for this documentary Mr. Skinner.
I grew up on Rockford files. Her and garner had such great chemistry, everyone was hoping it was true!! Very underrated actress. Thanks for the content
Thank you Jerry. I have always loved this woman. Just something about her, and her voice was music to me! You're right, God would never punish a soul who is so mentally ill that they see no alternative to suicide! 💙
I don’t think I’d ever would have bothered to look her up and learn about her, if it wasn’t for your channel. Thank you very much. Marietta is a very high caliber individual!
I remember a lot of her career, but It mostly begins with the commercials with Mr. Garner & Goodnight Bean Town. My favorite roll of hers was in a movie of the week, MADD - Mother's Against Drunk Drivers, I think it was early to mid 1980's. It put that organization on the map, everyone knew about them!!! Sad to say that in 1989 I lost my oldest son to a drunk driver, He was 7 1/2. She is just lovely, and it's nice to know she is doing well!!! Thank you, Mr. Skinner. 🌼
Yes, I do not have the TV set since 1994 so sure I missed her and forgot about Ms Hartley whom I recognize by the special tone of voice. Glad she is happy performing stil and working in community. Thanks Mr Skinner!
She has to have been one of the busiest actresses of the time. She was on everything. A very accomplished actress with such a sad upbringing. Another great documentary Jerry. Thank you for all the information.
I met her when I worked in a hotel gift shop. She sat and chatted with myself and another girl. Delightful and fun. I wish I could tell her that I DID recognize her, but it's my habit that celebrities are just people, too.
Thank you for this documentary. It is very eye-opening. I have depression as well. I will pray for her. It's a day by day struggle. Nice to hear your voice again. God Bless You and stay safe. Thank for all that you do.
Hello Mr. Skinner, we all love your intriguing and interesting depiction of so many stars. Thank you for all the work you do to bring this entertainment to all of us. 😎
Thanks Jerry. Even as a kid somehow I could see through her acting to her pain. I know that's sounds a little crazy. But she was always one of my favorites. A familiar soul.
Thank you, Jerry! Absolutely wonderful! Ms. Hartley is an inspiration to one and all! Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece and thank you Ms. Hartley you are loved by one and all that know your work and the help you give! Humble Thanks!~
Wow, Jerry! Superb presentation. I do recalled seeing her all over the tv in the 60s and mid 70s, but of course I had no idea what she'd been going through in her personal life.
Ms. Hartley was excellent on an episode of "The Twilight Zone," with the late Robert Lansing. I was a kid then, but I never forgot that wonderful performance. "The Long Morrow" Please watch it.
Thank you for another amazing video Jerry. I watch these every evening. I’d love to see you cover Judy Garland’s story. I’m completely positive you’d do it justice. -Kayla (WV)
She was and still is my favorite actress From when I was nine years old. My entire family used to watch all of them T.V. Shows in which she appeared. Needless to say that watching her, was special to us as if we were watching a family member on screen. Remembering the Kodak/ Polaroid commercials with her and James Garner, brought back great memories of my childhood. The two of them were favorites of my family. We always enjoyed watching them on the t.v.. She brought Joy into our loves, whether it was in Bonanza, Star Trek or any other show. The same goes for James Garner, he was a member of our family through the courtesy of the television who brought these great actors into our lives every week.. Thanks for the memories.
What a beautiful tribute, and so full of interesting facts about Ms. Hartley, her kind soul, and her extremely prolific career. God bless you, sir, and may God bless Ms. Hartley and all of her loved ones. Thank you.
Hi Jerry!! Was just thinking of you today wondering when a new video might pop up. Glad you chose Mariette - especially from Ride The High Country. Much love to you and your bride - Mona McCrea
I had no idea of the hardships in Mariette Harley's life. I remember her very well mostly from the Twilight Zone and Star Trek episodes. She had something unique and special. Thank you Jerry for choosing to do her story. I enjoy all that you do.
Loved watching her and loved her voice the way she talk. I’ve watched her in all the TV show and movies. I didn’t know she was a abused woman I can relate I was to. So sad. I’m glad life got better for her. Had her children and a better life. God bless you Marietta Hartley 🙏🙌💯😇🥰🦋🌹
That was really good Jerry. Thank you soo much....The Story was very informative and I'm sure it wasn't a very easy task to put a ton of information on her together. Thank you again Jerry for your hard work.
Jerry i really enjoyed this one. It hits close to home as I have watched her in many movies and TV shows. You really did your homework on her. Thank You for a job well done. You never have a so so video. They are always good and educational. Cheers!
Thank you Mr. Skinner for another great biography. Can’t believe she turned out as well as she had after her upbringing. I don’t think I’d have fared as well.
You selected a wonderful actress and human being for this piece Jerry. I did not know of so much sadness while growing up. I have watched her from Bonanza and on. To think how wrong her grandfather was with his ideas. She is an ideal person to talk about "mental illness" and I admire her courage. Yesterday we lost Naomi Judd to this terrible and sad illness. Mariette is a person to be admired and I hope she has lots of love around her and knows what a great person she is. God bless her and keep her safe. Loved this video as I so much enjoy everyone you do Jerry. You too stay safe and be blessed. Elizabeth C.
Thank you so much Jerry, another awesome documentary. I saw her first movie and knew she was gonna be a super star actress. She had some life and overcame a lot of very difficult times. Thanks again my dear friend Jerry. Please keep em coming. Stay well and be safe, think of you often, Augie and Jill Blase, Winter Springs, Florida🤠
So cool! I was JUST searching for info about her life. I remember her from tv when I was a kid...and she left such an impression on me. I'm happy to see this from you. Hope you're well☆
I grew up in the 60s and I find Jerry's voice to be calming and pleasing even when he is divulging tragic events. The characters he chooses are always intriguing and often inspiring. USA major industry is our entertainment industry which is promoted and sold around the world. Performers are working people just like us.
An incredible survivor. A master of her craft. Tragic that she chose to abort her baby--during a horrific marriage. Wonderful that she has been helping families who have been impacted by suicide. Shalom to her.
I have older sisters who wish they and been given away or aborted . Our father was horrible to his family, in a time when women had none of the options they have now. Don't you dare judge. That's God's job.
Thanks again Mr Skinner. I remember the episode where she was on Star Trek. I also remember the commercials for Polaroid with her and James Garner. There was definitely chemistry between them in those commercials. And I always thought it wasn't really just all acting that they honestly were more than just two people coming into film a commercial but honestly liked each other as people.
Great job Jerry I always wondered what happened to her I ran into her in the mid 80’s in NY what an outstanding career in show business and great that she is helping others who suffer like her Dad I was an actor once upon a time but now am a therapist and help people face deal with and hopefully transcend their pain
Glad to hear she had so much success despite her family upbringing. First saw her on "Peyton Place" in the 60's. Always enjoyed her work including the Polaroid commercials. Ran into her once in the mid 90's at "Mel's Diner" in Sherman Oaks. She was as real and sweet as you thought she'd be . Congrats on being such a survivor !
