- These scenes was altered in most of release of the movie since 1998. Original shots was in the theatrical versions and in the first (and very rare) DVD edition !
- Krátké a kreslené filmy
I swear, this movie never gets old.
Yes. It's such high quality.
- "where does he sleep ?"
- "who says he sleep ?"
- "where does he fuck ?"
- "EVERYWHERE !"
Excellent dialogue and timing ! That movie is GOLD !
The laugh after 'everywhere' makes it more epic.
😆😆😆👍

They did such a great job in this movie of creating a vibe of evil and malevolence all the way through. It was perfectly done and the acting by all parties involved was incredible.
Apart from Keanu, of course. He can't act for shit.
And Dean Rooney finally gets his comeuppance! Pity Ferris Bueller wasn't there to see it.
Everyone was literally perfect
Search on the pope's audience chamber - it's even more satanic.
I remember when the ladies faces twist to look demonic, it creeped me out!
Shout out to Keanu for taking a pay cut to have Pacino in this film!!!!
And Pacino turned around and talked sh.t about Keanu’s acting…..directly to Keanu in front of cast and crew. No class.
That's terrible I mean I love Pacino. But I love the heart of Keanu more.
Really? What a jerk. Love keanu
What heart? @@tristezzalamentoluciano265
Oh, he not only took a pay cut…he passed up $11m for Speed 2.
Simply chills listening to Pacino. He was meant to play this role
OMG. I've watched this movie SO many times, and this is the first time that I caught Milton's "Get Eddie Barzoon" line and saw it as anything more than "Get him on the phone." lmao. He really, really meant "GET" Eddie Barzoon.
Yup. He released his minions on the poor sap
Operator 346 = 13. The Devil's Operator.
I finally got it after about my first couple of watches.
Omg I realized the name the Devil uses in this. John Milton. The guy who wrote Paradise Lost. lol!
The thought had occurred to most us about 1997.
@@Marvin-dg8vj or did it?
@@c.galindo9639 indeed it did .
@@Marvin-dg8vj cool. I’ll see my way out now.
*Grabs top hat and cane then puts on monocle*
And Kevin is the English translation for Dante.
His speech about the human ego is prophetic.
Yeah the message and meaning of this speech has definitely changed for me of the last couple of years. I've been reading something recently actually kind of changes the meaning behind the Adam and original sin. It's always said that it was giving into temptation that was original sin, I've been reading it was originally concupiscence, (had to look this up) meaning excessive desire, particularly sexual. Desiring more than you require. When you run that out, yeah it kind of means the same thing but its not really and the implications are very different.
@@froggy187888 It was wisdom/knowledge that was the active ingredient in the apples god did not want adam and eve to eat. Once they did they recognized they where naked and clothed themselves with fig leafs (or whatever), god upon seeing this was furious as his creation was soiled by it.
In my eyes the original sin is ignorance. Had they known the consequences they may not have eaten the apple
@@cerebusrex-u1721 maybe I need to go back and read the bible again. Could you tell me if you know. How/why did god want wisdom/knowledge withheld from humans? Was it particular knowledge found from eating the apple or was it more generalised? Ignorance being the original sin seems a bit confusing when they were then expelled from Eden for obtaining knowledge. I was thinking more from the angle of, God told them not to touch the tree, which reminds me of like the 10 commandments and such. Then it was the snake that convinced eve to try one, leading her into temptation as it were.
@@froggy187888 because to him his creation was perfect in his eyes with the absence of self awareness through the lack of knowledge/wisdom. But after being bestowed with both from the forbidden fruit they lost the innocence god cherished in his new creation knowing that knowledge will also sully their purity and drive them to unfavorable ends due to its devices.
In the end I surmise god wanted his creations to have the innocence of a child who in the absence of knowledge would remain so until its last days. A creature of purity devoid of evils because its devoid of it's own personal evolution and awareness.
@@cerebusrex-u1721 Ahhh, so the fruit is where we got our conscious mind. Haha, in a weird way I'm kind of glad eve did then. Yeah we got booted out of paradise which sucked, but let's look at it this way. If every days a sunny day, then what's a sunny day haha.
Keanu Reeves took a big pay cut so that he could work with Pacino... He's actually done that alot.
The man just loves making the best movies he can. It's a joy to watch.
Who wouldn't
He also turned down 7 million dollars offer for Speed 2
Al Pacino's apartment is what every real estate agent aspires to own

Pacino's BEST performance in a movie hands down!!
I can look at Mr. Pacino in anything. Such a damn good actor. So few left.
Especially selling Dunkin Donuts.
He was a good actor. His earlier movies showed he was an enormous talent. Then somewhere down the line I am not sure where exactly he changed. He realized that all he had to do was show up and because he was who he was they would shower him with money. I think the challenge went out of it for him at that point. The end result just as with Robert Deniro and a bunch more he has been phoning it in for years maybe a couple of decades. They are all massive has beens now. Such a shame. Bruce Willis is another has been. It is all about the money nowadays for all these used to be's. Bring back Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon Pacino. That Pacino was an actor.
@@izifaddag8221 Nineties were also good for Al, Carlito, Heat
@@jhutfre4855 Yep that was when he went off the boil. After Heat etc he gave up.
The production value in this film is great and also creepy. It’s creepy because you get strong vibes of the devil’s true nature from Christian theology, not some romanticized gimmicky portrayal of evil. the statue, for starters, always freaked me out, especially when it starts to slowly move in the film’s climax.
It’s because the movie is telling you something , it’s telling the truth and it tells you who the man of sin is in real life , they always do such things like this in movies it’s their way of mocking you .
If you believe that stuff. The old adage from FDR has always been true. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
@@davidhutchinson5233There’s no such thing as an atheist David everyone bows a knee to God. You’re not going to live forever and you too will wish you hadn’t rejected your Creator.
I like to think, John Constantine, John Wick, and Neo are all different versions of Kevin from different realities and the Matrix and John Wick franchises are all just tie ins to this movie. The devil had came in many forms and still hasn't given up on Keanu.
Every penny¥'$ worth,

Excellent point
Eddie: "He's a business client, John". Love the slight tone change and intense eye contact. Jeffrey Jones is a fantastic actor.

Yea... I liked him too after Ferris Bueller's day off and Easy Money w/Rodney Dangerfield until in the mid 90's he was popped for having kiddy p0rn. Dropped the spotlight and p3dowood like it was lava and never did a movie for over a decade to let that news cool a bit
And a pedophile
The sculpture, my opinion represents the pit of hell and the people people in it attempting to flee its flame.
Dantes inferno?
The sculpture is his doorway to hell
Compare it with the statue that sits behind the Pope in his audience hall.....
Woah! There's Pam!
The devil knows everything going on today and tomorrow.
One of the most underrated movies EVER!!! Pacino at his BEST 👍
I worked for Blockbuster Video when this movie was released for home viewing. We had to put notices on every copy we had stating that the sculpture was used without the artists permission.
Wow, really? That's interesting.
You didn't have to out any notices that it's Satanic?
@@ezekielbrockmann114well it does say devil, though I guess that’s often used not literally meaning the devil.
Sometimes I think the entertainment industry understands the devil better than the rest of the world. This movie and the Rolling Stone’s song “Sympathy for the Devil” show supernatural insights.
How Michael Coreleone and his Family really got so powerful.

From 4:30 on. Sound editing is second to none. Amazing work. I forgot how awesome this movie was!!!
I didn't knew that Al Pacino could speak Russian.

And Japanese!
The devil speaks many languages.
I'm sure he never can speak Korean even a word to watch this scene.😅
He said a few lines in Russian, which does not mean he could speak Russian. It was for the role.

This movie sold me on Charlize Theron as an actress. Prior to seeing her in this, I thought she was 'just another tall blonde'. Man, what a performance! And what's she's gone on to do!
I know it's a pipe dream, but I'd like to see her as Samus Aran if they every made a Metroid movie.
Yea she would know alot about selling her soul
Scary I watched this movie a few days ago and now recommended this to me when I didn't even watch any clips of this movie recently on here. Maybe as a collected whole we needed to see this movie because of everything that's going on now!
Whatever evil is going on now it was always on and on. Nothing new is happening.

This movie is underated
Pacino the master
The use of the sculpture without the artist’s permission was just plain wrong.
Fortunately, the court agreed.
Fascinating story there, worth reading the details.
Yes Frederick's original was a masterpiece 👏
Fiber-optically connect the world to every ego-impulse [...] until every human becomes an aspiring emperor.
Amazing how this movie prophesized Instagramers / CZcamsrs / TikTokers and whatnot... in 1998... Almost makes you wanna bang your head against the wall that some people saw it and others didn't.
yes, for real...
Well there their who actually have talent and ability there who create. Not all are just delusional or off in their pursuit. But some are maybe very overboard with things.
Notice Milton says "It's ours to lose" because he wanted Kevin to lose the case.
Count Dooku he knew Kevin’s instincts would lead him to the place Milton wanted him to go.
He didn’t want him to lose.
He wanted to give him the option so Kevin freely choose to do the wrong thing.
i think the phrase means that we are definite winners unless we want to lose
Earlier in the film, Milton tells Kevin that their law firm doesn't have anyone who deals with homicide and similar types of cases(which is what Kevin does). I think Kevin asked him why he needed a criminal lawyer or something like that, and Milton says "Our clients break the law just like anybody else. I'm just tired of sending their business across the street"(to other law firms).
So in this scene, Milton is basically saying, "It's ours to lose!" because this is a huge case involving a rich and powerful client that _could_ make a lot of $ for any firm that wins it. Eddie Barzoon(the big guy) wants to call whoever they'd normally call but Milton is ready to trust Kevin. That's why he later asks Kevin, "You gonna fight for this thing, or what?" He was asking Kevin if he's ready to step up and prove he's as good as Milton tells everyone he is. I get the feeling that Kevin is who Milton hoped Eddie would be, and the other guy with the glasses seems like he's trying to show that he could(in his own way) be the protege Milton wants Kevin to be(or a 2nd one).
No. This was just a test, a manipulation.
One of the best horror movies of the 90s
This movie perfectly captures the cultural feeling of the late 90s
Isn't horror. It's drama, philosophy.

This movie is very well written. At least for me.
How’d he know it was Pam? Oh wait...😏
I must have had the original dvd because this is how I remember the scene...
We are loving this reality everyday.
I used to work at Blockbuster when this movie came out, and I remember that every copy of the tape for this movie had a sticker on it, full of legalese about the sculpture. Odd case; I've never seen that happen before or since.
I love that Jeffrey Jones is in this. He played the devil in the film Stay Tuned with John Ritter.
And is a pedophile
I recall the dvd I rented had that sculpture but the characters were moving in it, changing position like it was alive.
As a note, you can go running and be drunk at the same time.

By the way, 16,242 hours comes out to 676 days. A bad boy, that Mr. Cullen.
Multipled by 400 dollars per hour equal to almost 6.5 million $. That's 18000$ a day in 1997. In 2022 that would be around 32000.

I recorded this on VHS when it was first released on some premium channel unchanged. I got the dvd, but unfortunately it was the altered version of course. I loved this movie when I first saw it in theaters. James Newton Howard score is awesome. The movie was on Showtime last night, and I knew it was going to be the altered version, but I watched for the first scene of Milton's home just to be sure. So disappointing and sad this movie had to be RUINED.
What did they alter?
@@ytpete2 Uh, The scenes here with the bass-relief? The altered version, the statue people in it have been erased......

@@no1guy825 Dramatic much? Tell that to Frederick E Hart who took Warner Brothers to court. Digitally removing the statues until the very end does in fact ruin the movie in many ways.
How would you know if it's altered.

Has anyone ever seen a good wallpaper image of Milton's penthouse? I want a good picture of it for my desktop.

This movie is an alternate version of The Matrix in which "the devil" is just someone who learned to free their mind and Neo hasn't caught on yet.

Hi there! I'm interested in doing a reconstruction fan edit using upressed footage of the original sculpture. What's the source of this footage? The video says it's in 720p, but the only source I know of is the original Special Edition DVD and that would be at 480p. Is there some other super rare HD source I'm not aware of?
My source is indeed the original DVD. ;)
The sculpture scene on vhs and 1st dvds is the same, they put a sticker on them indicating the sculpture was being used without permission. 2 weeks after they did this the discs were recalled. I just saw one on ebay still sealed with the sticker after 25 years but the seller knows what he has..
