If you don't already know, the picture is from a scene in a Christmas comic book. A homeless family living in an abandoned house is thrown out by a Scooge-ish businessman named Tad Ferguson who going to demolish the property for his own usage. It's not a coincidence either, he moved up the date specifically to screw them over. Supposedly, he was going to go on a pacific cruise during Christmas, so the family broke into his house to spend the winter. However, he came back to grab his bags on Christmas Eve. And he found his shotgun before he found the family.
At gunpoint, he made the family tie themselves up and called the police. However, the police found themselves sidetracked by an...elf problem. Meanwhile, Tad fell asleep waiting. That's when they heard the gun go off downstairs...
A Nutcracker Soldier stole the shotgun, together him and animated toys chased Tad around the mansion, until Christmas elves finally caught him. They threw him in the Naughty Sack. The family got loose with a stolen knife, and one of them remarked on hearing Tad Ferguson screaming downstairs.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!
"Whoever it is, they got him."
"Does that mean...they're gonna come get us?"
*AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!*
"OH, WHOOPS. I was wrong before. NOW they got him."
"Tell 'THEY' I owe 'em a drink."
At that moment, one of the elves shows up at the door and runs off with the guy's drink. Then they hear the footsteps in the hall...
Krampus hated those who've lost the true spirit of Christmas. Tad Ferguson has been naughty, he goes to Hel. The family has the true spirit of Christmas still in them, but all of them have done naughty things to enjoy themselves. Still, none of it was their fault, nor done out of malice, so he leaves them alone. But their little girl...the girl is innocent. She hasn't done anything bad of her own volition. She knows nothing of demons, that's why she's not scared of him, unlike the rest of the family. She even believes he's Santa.
He doesn't want to scare her, nor does he want her to lose hope. So he gives her a present, a big red jingle bell. Then he lights the fireplace and leaves. On the bell is engraved, in German, "Greetings from Krampus."
