I've heard that a lot actually, about a lot of celebrities. That a lot of people are being deeply impacted. I think it's the pandemic. I know that celebrities inspire us, but something has drastically changed about the way that we view humanity. Like literally viewing it, on our screens. We've become so socially isolated over the years and now throughout a pandemic, that we lack the emotional bonds of real relationships. So we're developing all these parasocial bonds with musicians or actors, because they display more humanity than what we get to interact with in our daily life.
I think what made Norm such a great comedian was the fact his confidence made almost every joke, never seemed cocky with it but at the same time, if he laughs, everyone laughs
Ya, I agree. He never let any hint of nervousness out when performing because he’s already done them a thousand times in his head and has laughed every time. That alone is enough for him, he just shares because others seem to agree that the statements are funny most often
I think successful comedians are able to use words to force your mind in the direction they want it to go. People that are inarticulate or bad at joke-telling say things in a way in which your mind is running through the possibilities and thinking about the implications. But for a joke to be good, you have to be taken in by it and eagerly await its development. You are no longer thinking about the possibilities but you are going where the comedian wants you to go. Also why comedians have been used in propaganda for so long.
i was actually making a classical Adam eget joke, but i guess it's so close to being true it can be confused. but shit, i think anyone you put there is gonna have a hard time under Norms shadow. i think Adam enhances the atmosphere to allow norm to shine. i think him trying that novel idea is interesting and kind of works. if you watch KPCS (kevin polaks chat show) it's only him and his producers, norm always needs someone by his side, and most times i see him that host just lets norm do his thing, so someone very funny by norm's side would be a mistake + he has funny guests that make the whole 3 person dynamic work well.. that's my theory.
