The one thing I love the most about this video is when you realized you needed to undo the stitches for the rain covers, you just did it. No hesitation on if it would get messed up or try to work around it, you just went all in and THAT is the awesome part. I think I lot of people would look at it and say "I already did that stitching, so it's done and I'm not touching it. I think being able to pull stuff apart, especially stuff you are creating, is the key to customization and truly wonderful works. Nice design!
😃
It is so cute when you are carrying your baby around when doing crafts. You must be a super mom.
I love that you don't have it completely figured out and improvise a bit along the way. It's beautiful!
Best part of having this beautiful bag is when people ask "Where did you get that amazing bag?!"......Made it myself !!!!!!!! AWESOME
Exactly! :)
Thanks for not only making a great bag, but finally teaching me how to pronounce the name of that Swedish backpack correctly!
Haha!
Thank you so much for this video. I have a waxed canvas backpack that I have taken with me around the world traveling. It has seen a lot and been through a lot and is on its last leg of life. I already have leather I purchased to recreate this same bag but have lacked the courage to jump in and start this project. I believe I’ve just found the best video for me to attempt this pride to. Thank you so much 😊
Wow! One of the most inspirational pieces ever. It's wonderful to look at but you strike such a special chord when you mention keeping this bag for many years, using patches to mark new adventures. THAT is a life lived well! I am glad we live in a time when someone like you can share these types of things. This project moved me.
Can't understand why Tandy has not yet sponsored you....terrific work, as always. Congrats (again)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen Tandy sponsor anyone. Perhaps this explains why all of their ideas are outdated and far from fresh, new or inspiring. This would be a good start.
Wonderful!!! I luv your ‘can do’ attitude and creative drive!! I’ve been doing leather work for about 6 months now and have been wanting to do a backpack... thnx for the inspiration!!!
Love this bag.
It is also very neat seeing all the patches and finding out things I might have in common based on them.
I just got into leatherworking myself, though I still need to pick up some more stuff for stitching; I decided to start off carving, stamping and tooling to get practice with those before moving on to constructing/stitching, so seeing this was really an inspiration. Honestly, I'm not sure if you really could find a leather bag like that for sale as something other than a custom order, and the fact that you made your own means that it will always be unique because it contains aesthetic and functional choices that reflect you, your personality and your creativity. Many years back, when talking to my father about something else, I got what I consider to be the best piece of advice pertaining to crafting; almost all projects start off simple, but very few remain that way for long. I've really taken that to heart and just accepted that even if what I was originally shooting for was something simple, I just have to go in whatever direction the project wants to take and trust that it will all turn out all right in the end.
Very functional, this looks great! I love it!
WOW. This is the perfect backpack! I love watching your channel, and hearing how you think out loud to process designs. Entertaining and educational!
It's funny; I've had the bug to start working with leather for a few months now (it was something my late dad loved doing) and now I keep seeing you doing all this amazing leather stuff... This bag is gorgeous and I'm super motivated now to try to do something with leather myself! Nice work!
Great to hear Vincent!
I really like the way this turned out and the patches make it so personal! I love that it can grow with you.
Me too :)
This bag is beautiful! I absolutely love watching your videos. I so enjoy watching the "process" of people making things, and yours are so well done. Thank you for continuing to make awesome stuff!
Thanks so much Alex!
I absolutely love your style in your leatherwork. I have not found anyone to who I can relate. I work a lot like you. I am glad I found your videos.
WOW! Lynn...you knocked that one out of the park. I think it's awesome how much love and effort you put into these wonderful things. I'm sure you'll treasure it for years! Cheers!
Thanks Rick! I agree with you, I hope I'll get to use it for many years!
I super love this project! Great job. I also love your videos.
That is awesome! I've been playing with leather work and hand tooling. I haven't put a video up yet, just a few IG posts but I think I will post one near the end of April. Great work Lin!!
It's a lot of fun and opens up a lot of possibilities!
What an outstanding job you're doing with these projects. I love the patches idea too. It just ads that one of a kind touch to the whole thing. Keep up the great work.
I'm from Brazil and just find your channel two days ago... now, I just wanna start new projects and this will be the first. Absolutely amazing! Congrats ;)
Instructables patch! Your whole process is inspiring and great to watch! I like how you shared your brainstorming ideas and your thoughts. Great video and stunning results!
Holy moly! That is one good looking bag!
Darbin that was Fabulous, Me and My Daughter absolutely loved this, Thank you for Sharing : )
Dad and Grace,
( Toronto )
That's so cool. You are so talented. I like the rain flap things.
It's hard to make a simple leather backpack. But you nailed it by making a complicated one with ease. Thanks for this cool video/ build!
its perfect, I love it, very nice work, my favorite thing about this video is the fact that the bag you made was hand stitched👏👏👏👏👏😊
Nice backpack
I skinned a leather couch, Jimmy Diresta style. Your backpack has me inspired to get some leather working tools and get to making something with it. I wasn't sure about the patches, but you're right, it does look better than just beautiful leather. Will get even better still with use. Turned out great. Like your leather working vids, and the toolbox too. Thanks Lynn
Excellent design, looks so simple and complex. Love it
Olya and I both loved your design. The rain flaps make it look really cool!
Awesome! Hope you guys are doing well!
Awesome job, the back pack is lovely, you did a terrific job.

As usual another excellent project. Great leather work!
Excellent project Linn.
It is unique to yourself because you could design based on your preference the size, the leather, the colour. The outcome is amazing!
I love the bag! Kind of obsessed with it! Would buy one in a heartbeat!!! Love it!
I love to watch your process when you create you are so talented!!! Keep up the videos!
That's so great to hear Meghan!
Oregon has it's fair share of rain. I would have treated the leather with some sort of oil/wax waterproofing to avoid saturation if you are caught in heavy weather. Once the patches are on it's too late. It possible to Scotchgard the patches after the fact, but what's underneath is untreated. Don't get me wrong I like patches too. I sewed on a large loop panel onto my canvas bag so I could add lots of velcro backed patches and swap them out as I choose. It's true you can have a lot of patches, but I find all at once is overwhelming. One day I might make a leather back pack like yours. It's really nice to know it's truly yours on a level that money and market can't touch. There are a lot of such things for sale on Etsy, and you're right they cost a lot. Thanks for the video.
Nice. I hope you put a date on everything you create. Way in the future you will appreciate that.
it would be an amazing gift i loved it
Inspired.
Thank you.
Awesome backpack, thanks for sharing as this is something I have wanted to do for a long time
Fantastic. Inspiration for me to get some leather and start learning

Thanks Brian!
super video. since I hate the kanken bags and broadly despise patches so I'm kinda surprised I like the bag! love its little cap sleeves - great idea/execution. I've been putting off trying to make one for years - maybe this year
Haha! I'd love to see your take on it.
Its amazing!! I can see exactly why you LOVE it, thanks for telling such a sweet story =)
I hear you about the patches; when you have an item like this that has been added to over time, it gives it that "well traveled" feel, especially if some of the patches are a touch dirty and some are cleaner, showing which ones have been there longer and which ones are more recent.
Great job. I'm impressed with your resoucefulness.
Hi Darbin, really a very good work, I love it totally..... I love backpacks....well done....

I really like this bag design. I think I want to give it a try and see if I can make one for my hayati.
Beautiful backpack. It's one of a kind. :)
Nice Rucksack... Gonna try making one...
I may need to make one for my girlfriend. She loves the fjallraven design too, and would adore your bag
Восхищаюсь Вашими видео!)
Nice project!
Very Nice bag . I love it . Good job .
nice work and design.
Great to watch you making it - not sure I would have the confidence to make it myself!
You just gotta do it! Or start with making one in canvas first to do some testing!
Darbin Orvar That's a good idea, would give practice with the hardware fittings, and as the trial project progresses, certain parts could be made with scraps of leather too. The end result would still be a useful article, or for a gift.
Very beautifull backpack
wow how cool!
Great job
Love 💗 it!
Good Video. Great detail. Thanks for sharing. Paz
Good for you!) great job!
I carry a backpack. Love yours!!! This is an heirloom piece :) I'm a fan of your patches too
