Goodbye Nagoya Port Line! Rail transport by DE10 Loco and DD200 Loco in Aichi pref, Japan

The JR Freight Nagoya Port Line is one of the oldest freight lines, having opened in 1911.
The line used to be busy with freight traffic, but since the 2000s it has only been used by trains to transport rails three times a week from the terminus at Nagoya Port Station.
The KIYA 97s used for rail transport were originally capable of running on their own, but as they were JR Tokai rolling stock, they were not permitted to run alone on JR Freight lines, so they were towed by JR Freight locomotives.
Rail transport had long been operated by JNR-type DE10 diesel locomotives, but DD200 diesel locomotives were used on a trial basis for about a month in November 2020.
The DE10s were retired in the March 2022 timetable revision and only DD200s were used.
However, it has been announced that the Nagoya Port Line will be discontinued on 1 April 2024, as the rail transport base will be changed from Nagoya Port Station to Kasadera Station.
One step ahead of the line being discontinued, rail transport from Nagoya Port Station ended on 25 January 2024.
Three years of DD200 rail transport were documented, from provisional DD200 operations in 2020 to regular operations with DE10s and full-scale DD200 rail transport after the retirement of the DE10s.

Yeah, that's going to keep happening as population declines in many areas of the country. Meanwhile more train lines and stations are being built in Tokyo all the time, as well as more shinkansen lines.

They tell anybody working near the tracks which ones are signalled to have trains use them and which are not- and I presume there'd be another colour to confirm (as an extra precaution on top of all other safeworking systems) that the track is indeed inactive and safe to work on
