Before the update, you can easily change groups, the game just restarts every time. Now with this new update, it seems we have to play and finish beginner chapter stages in order to change the groups.

I think people hate it because they changed the game's appearance so much to the point of leaving bad reviews (hence the 3.8 rating in the play store...) and just leaving the game entirely because they don't want to play something that seems much more difficult (as well as way more confusing) than the old version. Personally, for me, yes, i did dislike the gameplay, but the more time i spend playing, it's actually not so bad at all. I just wish the game gave me more le sserafim cards and not the same repeated cards from the other 4 groups.

Trust me, some people don't even have to play it to know how it is going to be. Humans naturally don't like change. Video games are also included. This update happening is like suddenly knowing a childhood home is going to get completely remodeled and un-recognizable. As my prediction, yes, it's obvious that if you don't like something you'd leave it. People may leave. But the consequences of a video game going down in popularity or even getting more negative ratings because of a single update cannot be ruled out. The best thing they could've done is to make a Rhythm Hive 2. And that season 4 update would have gone to a 2nd game instead of completely changing a game (causing a lot of backlash) that has been known for how it was for years. I don't care if people like this update or disagree with it being a downgrade. If a huge group of people is already disliking it, then it is best that they don't make this change even though it will happen anyway.
It's because there's nothing wrong with the original gameplay in studio mode; maybe that's why most players are annoyed? If it ain't broke, then don't change it

i played most of the superstar games and only tried this bc of lesserafim and newjeans. ive been playing for 3days and ithink overall this is better
