You don’t have to possess the world’s most accurate pitch, or the most beautiful voice to make a lasting or charming effect. Gertrude Lawrence possessed neither. Yet her recorded performances can make you catch your breath. Her professional partnership with actor playwright and composer Noel Coward was shorter than its influence may seem, but the fruits are permanent and memorable. For the play ‘Private Lives’ in which they appeared, Coward wrote one of his most imperishable deceptively simple songs: Someday I’ll Find You - and here it is in the definitive version - by Gertrude Lawrence. The master himself contributes his delightful Something to Do With Spring from ‘Words and Music’ and Dearest Love from ‘Operette’.
Lyrics:
When one is lonely the days are long
You seem so near
But never appear
Each night I sing you a lover's song
Please try to hear
My dear, my dear
Someday I'll find you
Moonlight behind you
True to the dream I am dreaming
As I draw near you
You'll smile a little smile
For a little while
We shall stand
Hand in hand
I'll leave you never
Love you forever
All our past sorrow redeeming
Try to make it true
Say you love me too
Someday I'll find you again
Can't you remember the fun we had?
Time is so fleet
Why shouldn't we meet?
When you're away from me days are sad
Life's not complete
My sweet, my sweet - Hudba

The lyrics are diferent to those in the description, as follows:
When one is lonely the days are long
Life is so fleet, why shouldn't we meet
Each night I sing you a lover's song
It's incomplete, my sweet, my sweet
Someday I'll find you, moonlight behind you
True to the dream I am dreaming
As I draw near you, you'll smile a little smile
For a little while, we shall stand, hand in hand
I'll leave you never, love you forever
All our past sorrow redeeming
Try to make it true, say you love me, too
Someday I'll find you again
(Instrumental Break)
I'll leave you never, love you forever
All our past sorrow redeeming
Try to make it true, say you love me, too
Someday I'll find you again

Can I use this or any of your other songs in a youtube video?
You guys planning anything new soon, sorry to ask. I just like the songs that you guys play.
Hi, thanks for asking ... we're currently discussing a 50s jazz album - would that be of interest? :-)
@@PastPerfectVintageMusic I would be interested in it, yes.
Does anyone know what's up with the recent change in accessiblity to the Past Perfect videos. Lately the number of videos is drastically reduced and even the videos listed on the channel don't play and are 'no longer available'. Did CZcams crack down on copyright issues or something?
Such a contentious subject with me right now, and my heart sinks every time someone asks, which has been quite often over the past few days :-( ..................Sony have rather unkindly issued a copyright claim against a track that we actually own the copyright to - as it’s our own remastered recording. CZcams therefore issued a strike against us. I've asked Sony why and I believe they should retract .... but a week has gone by and no response - I doubt whether we'll get one :-/ I was consequently shocked to hear that nearly every video is now unavailable over in the Americas. Our channel hasn't brought us revenue from the USA but it's brought enormous joy to thousands of listeners. And I'm so damn sad that Sony have done this and that we're helpless right now. Thank you again for your support of our channel, much appreciated ... but I don't know if we'll be able to restore.
Thanks for the response. Sorry to hear about the situation. I'll see if I can communicate with Sony/CZcams to file a personal complaint.
Appreciate your support Marc, thank you
This makes me so sad to hear! Big corporations ruin everything just for the sake of money. I love this channel, and I really miss de 1930's tea party playlist :( . I'm not sure If I would get this type of music on spotify so easily or anywhere else. Hope everything gets well for you!
We've been back again for a while now :-) Glad to be able to share our own Copyright tunes again. Happy days.
Do you have cds that could be purchased of all your collections? I live in the U.S.
Yes we do ! Here's a link and just to tell you that if you Buy or Download 2 CDs we'll send you a 3rd one Free, and we even offer Free shipping anywhere in the World - www.pastperfect.com/ - very generous :-) Thanks for asking.
@@PastPerfectVintageMusic Thank you!!!
Gert is a "warbler" -- but allegedly had style.
Beautiful rendition but can’t compare to Doris Day’s version (1961)
Did this channel die?
Why, what's happened ? :-/
I just meant that the last video said it was made a couple of years ago so I was just wondering. Sorry if it came off as mean.
@@bluespider0069 oh ... I was concerned that you weren't able to see any of our other videos. You see, CZcams has been allowing false claims on our recordings which has meant some of them being blocked for a while. Lots have now been correctly released but UMG are still erroneously claiming on some of our recordings and it's been really frustrating. I thought you meant that you'd 'lost us' completely ! Happy continued listening .... and thanks :-)
