Just a note for people saying that the horse is skinny: he’s not, thoroughbreds are lean, not skinny. Think about a human athlete; specifically sprinters/track people. Those people are slim and lean, but Strong af. They’re made for speed, so they’re naturally lean and ‘aerodynamic’.
Mad Melody I got a off the track Thorough bread and he’s not that skinny
@@magiccowgirls2230 and your horse isn't racing fit
@@magiccowgirls2230 well a normal horse in racing, they get worked and fed to the right point where they are getting as much food as they need but they also work off the calories
This horse is *not* malnourished. Its considered "Racing fit". Stop freaking out about it. It's a great video.
He looks just a little under muscled
@@axw1673 he might be young and building muscle
The horse is really happy. :D And that‘s good
Notice the Ribs. Doesn't always mean skinny horse. Means healthy lean running machine
Javier Garcia you should never be able to count a animals ribs
Yara V thoroughbreds are supposed to be lean so with some thoroughbreds you can see their ribs it's normal
That horse is beautiful! I have always wanted to own a horse.
Addyson Letendre very hard to get your own racehorse that you can actually ride. Better being a work rider you get to ride loads. Lovely horses to ride though.
@Liva Malle buut... horse isn't underweight?
@Liva Malle oh my days, the horse is lean, not underweight ya doughnut
Very useful
Thanks for this. The girth strap usually has short straps on one end and longer straps on the other end. I keep getting it mixed up as my trainer has told me either the short straps are supposed to be attached on either the left or right side. Can you clarify this point please? Thanks
Hi Mike, when girths are elastic on one side only, so the straps are shorter on the non-elasticated/just leather side. Traditionally you should always have the elastic on the left hand side (near side) of the horse. Hope this helps. CiR
Thank you very much for responding so quickly. Just the information I require. Thank you .Printed and in my wallet for ready reference.
I love to work with race horse
You might want to go back to school to learn grammar
Benjamin Plant same lovely animals
Imma buy a racing saddle, that is if my mom let's me
Can everyone shut the fuck up about the horse's weight? This is a fit and healthy racehorse, why the hell wouldn't it be? You think the trainer wants skinny, malnourished horses, I don't think so. Thin racehorses don't win races, strong, fit ones do. This horse has bright eyes and a shiny healthy coat, yes you can see his ribs, but it doesn't automatically mean that a horse is unhealthy or not being fed enough. If this horse was really unfit and unhealthy there would be plenty of other signs to confirm it. Also just because your horse is a Thoroughbred doesn't mean it will look exactly like this one.
Stop freaking out. Most racing thoroughbreds are quite young which is why the horse is small. Also those things on the sides of the horse just by the looks of it and how dark they are, I am quite sure those are brindle markings.
I have loads of ponys and it's kind of like tacking up English
I like ponies😊
Molly evans, this is a horse, not a pony! Or do u mean u like them in general?? Have a great day! Xoxox
Molly evans This is a horse
Well this is quite a pony then. Lol
This horse is on the leaner side but it’s because it’s “track fit” not because of being thoroughbred. Yes thoroughbreds are leaner but a normal riding thoroughbred shouldn’t be track fit
His horse is most likely younger and still in training
Why is he wearing a martingale?
The race horse is a bit under weight you should only see some ribs when the horse shifts his weight this horse is just standing there and you can still count all his ribs he isn’t unhealthy just a little under weight in my opinion
Crazy Equestrian true
that's because Its considered "Racing fit". Stop freaking out about it.
@@friesianlife7943 Its considered "Racing fit". Stop freaking out about it.
Ummmm why is his girth almost all the way back to the hind body and not right were the shoulder is just ending!?!? Hate that you can come off easier then and it rubs more!😡😡
Rebecca Green it’s because of the saddle, the saddle girth straps are quite far back but it is totally safe.
The saddle is in exactly the correct position for that type of saddle, as is the girth.
The horse looks way to skinny
No it actually looks rather healthy.
Made you Look
Racehorses are incredibly muscular with almost 0% fat under their skin when they are super fit. So their ribs are usually slightly exposed. A skinny horse wouldn't have all those nice muscles along its back, shoulders and hindquarters.
If anything slightly overweight for a race horse
No they do not have almost 0% fat, LOL. They do however have less fat than show horses or pleasure horses, many of whom are so obese they have metabolic disorders akin to human diabetes which can kill them. The body fat % of a race horse will usually be somewhere between 5 and 8% depending on how far along the horse's training is.
Georgia Quinn no it’s not
The horse is way under muscled
Anna Wolde no he is not😂
then why can u see most of its bones..? ;)
maybe cause he/she is skinny but he isn't under muscle i own 2 horses and the horse the guy is tacking up looks really healthy
Duh hes a race horse
No it's not it's just a racehorse. They're normally a little skinnier than non racers. They also have a lot of muscle
The horse is so skinny you need to feed him more and not to much
Jia S it isn't skinny atall, if anything a bit tubby for a racehorse
Jia S It is a thoroughbred, it is supposed to be like that
Schleich And HamsterLover I have thoroughbred and they should not look like that even for a racehorse
Georgia Quinn if anything a bit SKINNY even race horses shouldn’t look like this I have one of my own
So you wish to create a standard of a whole breed based on one individual which is most likely not worked at the level of intensity of probably half of the rest of the breed? I definitely would not get my information from such an unreliable source.
I 💘 horses i have my own horses and that horse is really skinny if i owned that horse i woul let him/her eat more! Poor horse no hate just give the horse more food plz for me and the horse! =(
JD I these horses are bred to show some rib.
Georgia Quinn some not all
Julia Bobst when we got my horse it’s was a bag of bones. Trust me I know what underweight looks like. This horse is in perfect racing condition.
No. Fat race horses get injured. They need to be slim and muscular.
No, idiot
Poor horse is so thin
Maja Zver meant to and bred to show some rib
Georgia Quinn some rib not this much
Julia Bobst I work with racehorses, believe it or not they are fed quite a lot. But these horses have a high metabolism and do a lot of work. This is a perfectly healthy horse.
Will you stop responding to everyone in the comments lol? The horse is racing fit. TB's are supposed to look like this, especially racers. Just because you own a recreational one doesn't mean they are the TB standard. Stop getting ahead of yourself.
His breed is skinny because they are thoroughbreds.
That horse is kida skinny
Its considered "Racing fit". Stop freaking out about it.
You could see. The poor horses robes she's super skinny
Its considered "Racing fit". Stop freaking out about it.
First of all feed the horse it's way to skinny it looks so sad and useless just let him eat if u cared about him
Wickle Pickle you can’t let a horse eat is they are about to be worked and also he is a thoroughbred and they are skinny, because its their breed. And to me this horse just looked bored and was playing with his mouth. 😂
*do you not care about your horse he's to skinny* and don't walk under any horses neck the head/neck is the strongest part of the horse he could easily crush you like that.
None of this is true omg XD.
Royal Models I’ll pretend that’s true
Spaghetti pasta both are incorrect. This horse is in a suitable condition and weight for a young race horse. Young people are taught not to walk under a horse's neck because one has to be aware of the horse and it reduces accidents in riding schools with ponies. These horses are trained to cooperate with such an action and the handlers also are very experienced and 'read' the horse well so it is not a problem with them.
That horse is way under weight. You need to be feeding him more.
