Hi guys, my name is Jason Leung, I am a 4th Dan in Shotokan Karate. In today's karate lesson, we are learning Kata Heian Nidan. Kata Heian Nidan is by far one of my favorite kata to perform, it is the kata where one truly begins to explore dynamic movements and sequences of shotokan karate.
This kata introduces "gyaku zuki" (reverse punch), "yoko geri keage" (side snap kick), "nukite" (spear hand thrust), and "uchi uke" (inside block).
I hope you guys find this kata tutorial useful!

You're excellent! I'm at a very frustrating point in my karate journey (brown belt) and your content has been helping a lot. Brown belt is tough because this is where a lot more of the very fine details of everything start to become expected; I guess this is supposed to be where it all comes together. I like how you break every technique down to the core mechanics because all those little things are where people start to get tripped up.

I just became orange belt rally helpful!!!
In 24th of June i got my yellow belt and started learning this kata 3 days later. Now i fully know this kata along with heian shodan. My yellow belt is slightly orange for some reason. Yeah… its a SMAI belt.
