- Sifan took the Track Meet women’s 5k field by storm straight from the gun running a solo effort 14:35!
The battle for second was led by Josette Norris, Rachel Schneider, and Emily Sisson. Norris out kicked Schneider and Sisson for a 2nd place finish and 28 second PR time of 14.51!

How did she change her form after all these years. wow
She is still all over the place. Her arms still go right across her body back and forth and her lower legs still splay outwards after every stride although maybe not quite as badly as a few years ago. It's only a subtle improvement. It doesn't seem to matter much because her push off on every stride is more dynamic than it is for most distance runners.

She just ran 70 seconds for each lap with almost no variance in the pace. No wave lights were needed by the way ... just split times every lap and maybe she checked times every 200m. It shows you that the wave lights do not give a runner any advantage when trying to run a specific pace so they aren't needed for WR attempts. Runners will know every 30-40 seconds if they have fallen a bit behind the pace just from split times or checking their own watch from time to time during their run. I don't think any of these Americans will have much of a chance against her or her other top competitors. What was the point of having someone "pace" them if the "pace" runners weren't going to even go out at her pace for 1 lap?!!

Terrible announcing. Do they realize Hassan is the best female runner in the world? At least pronounce her name correctly.
No, they don't realizd Hassan is the best female runner in the world. That's why they made a bigger deal out of the other runners finishing the race than giving Hassan's fantastic finish the respect she really deserves. The male announce refused to even pronounce Hassan's name correctly even after the female announce kept pronouncing it the right way.
So disappointing to listen to the announcers of this race. Hassan ran a spectacular race and the announcers seemed so underwhelmed by it; yet utterly impressed by the 2nd and 3rd place finishers. That, in addition to, mispronouncing the name of a world class runner like Hassan made this race hard to listen to. Shame on you and whoever highered the both of you!!.

I will start watching women's distance when one breaks the 4 minute mile! I ran a 4:00.25 when I was in the Army, never broke 4 but came very close. I am not, however, a world class runner by any means. Top women in the world should be able to beat me.
Just because a woman hasn’t broken the 4 minute mile doesn’t mean that it’s less worthy of watching. Women are accomplishing amazing doubles and we’ve seem some incredible athletes emerge the past couple of years.
