    In that Kreanga v. Schlager point, when the backhand down the line caught Schlager by surprise, the reaction and editing afterwards had me laughing so hard. :)

    Backhands aside, Karakasevic had/has the best drop-shot of the modern era. Hands-down the best. Better even than Waldner, better than anyone's.

    Kara has the most 'organic' backhand ever. I mean how can you train to get that kind of shots? Any coach seeing a young player do those kind of shot selections will probably stop him or her and advice to play the 'correct' technique. His father was a pro player and his first coach, maybe thats the reason his natural talented backhand survived early years of training.

    • @goggy6850
      @goggy6850 Před rokem +2

      i agree most coaches would say to have a smaller action on the backhand. my backhand is big like kreanga. just have to be quick to return to neutral position. but most coaches would not like it

  • @thad1296
    @thad1296 Před 3 lety +8

    Kreanga just smashes the shit out of every backhand, like there's no tommorrow
    Kara on the other hand plays an equally strong backhand like a lazy person would - which he is, I guess :D

  • @goggy6850
    @goggy6850 Před 5 lety +6

    Kreanga technique is very big with less time for recovery but other guys is compact with same power. Kreanga is my hero but leaning towards the other guys purely based on efficiency

    European players have unique styles, Chinese players , although really good, are conditioned to 1-2 play style due to their training. I see more creativity in European play ( Waldner, Gatien, Samsonov, Boll, Saive) and more consistency in Chinese play ( Wang Liqin, Wang Hao, Ma Lin, Ma Long, Zhang Jike)

    different styles....Kreanga's backhand is more powerful, devastating and with a lot of variations. Kreanga can demolish an opponent even with his backhand alone. he can sustain his backhand attacks with confidence. Karakesevic's on the other hand is more conservative, relax and uses more on ball placements. Kreanga wins points by power, Karakasevic by ball placement. I haven't seen these two matched up together, but my money's on Kreanga.

  • @shogrran

    Karakasevic from the clips looks like he uses one thing effectively. The backhand crosscourt to the far side. Kreanga has more variation.

    • @dickn.ormous1064
      @dickn.ormous1064 Před rokem

      That's because it plays wide to a right-hander's fh which is very difficult to defend against.I could even make a clip of Gatien hitting crackers on the bh side.
      The best lefty bh ever was probably Wang Tao's simply because he could block anything to wide angles.

    @GeneralSpecific3 Před 7 lety +7

    Kreanga by far has the better backhand. They both have equal placement but Kreanga has more power and is able to maintain that power under nearly all circumstances. Karakasevic has great power too but he often seems to use more control in many situations before killing a ball when he's absolutely sure. While Kreanga might do that sometimes too, more often than not he seems to be able to use unrelenting power on his backhand more than anyone in the history of the sport.

    • @-danR
      @-danR Před 7 lety

      Not in history. That would be Barna. Kreanga needs (and _has_ ) a very good forehand. Barna could mop the floor with choppers just using the backhand.

    • @-danR
      @-danR Před 7 lety

      He would angle the ball further and further out to the forehand side (nowadays, most players focus primarily against the backhand), and then hit hard to the backhand. There was no viable strategy against it. They knew it would happen, they just didn't know when.
      Later (more in my era) we had a penholder here with the same strategy, only forehands. slow hook-loops to the forehand, then a flat hit to the backhand. He was clobbering a top French chopper, until the guy got fed up (and a bit annoyed) and played a 3rd ball strategy instead.

    • @tomspice73

    • @dickn.ormous1064
      @dickn.ormous1064 Před 2 lety

      @@-danR Barna didn't even play with sponge rubber so forehand didn't even have that much of an advantage,on the contrary his close stance backhand had mechanical advantage over the fh technique of the time.Kreanga along with Schlager could beat choppers with their BH.Waldner said Kreanga had the best BH rally and he has played against pretty much everyone from Surbek to Ovtcharov.

    I must admit to not often watching these " who has the better" back hand or loop etc as really makes no difference when compared to " who is the more rounded " player as it takes a whole range of shots and a tactical brain to be say be the next Ma Long and seeing as neither of these players have been or will world No 1 or world or Olympic champions it really makes my point.
