I'm glad you found it, but I wouldn't be re-plugging in a plug that you already know is shorted. Going off the code, you also shouldn't be cranking the engine until after the short is found. You started off correctly at the beginning ohming out the ECM. Only if you would have ohmed out the injectors & plugs individually!
Wow, thank you for this.. My truck is showing same symptoms. Wondering if I have the same issue. Very hard to start. And today it can't start. Cranks and cranks but no start...
Id start off simple ,any stored codes? Oil condition? Steady cranking as in not stumbling? Good battery amps for a fast crank? fuel at filter closest to engine? Fuel pressure after the pump? Air in fuel? Leaking return fitting on back of cyl head? Then if the fuel system checks out id check for good battery power at ecm and grounds, then check for inj signal .... After all of that then you can try unplugging each inj one by one and try starting it after each one. No telling what it could be but at least its an easy engine to repair
I’m having the same problem on a 2009 Columbia, had it crank and it back fire. Had the valves adjusted and 2 screws replaced. It will turn over, but want start, just crank
A backfire sounds like a different issue. Possibly gear train damage causing timing to be off? Or valve damage? Before anything compression testing each cylinder would rule out or confirm mechanical damage internally. Then you could move on to fuel , electrical etc.
I've been dealing with a 91 Peterbuilt at work with a hard start problem I had a check engine light and couldn't get it store a code It has low fuel pressure to the fuel rail that has got a bit better after I replaced the pump and check valve and of course it's a grapple crane that sits alot and when they run they run the balls off of it I believe it's the injection o-rings and injectors I guess now we are going to see how deep the customer wants to go to fix it or if they are going to buy a couple of cases of starting fluid and see how long it lasts lol
Bro I’m having the same problem rn with my 12.7… crank but no start and hasn’t started since And b4 the it shut off on me it started Misfiring and then shut off hope it’s as easy as that
@@epicfishingadventure365 well if youve already checked all the basics like good fuel supply , air filters , turbo , fluids , no mechanical damage , then sounds like itd be time to pull the valve cover and check out the rockers and rollers. If all checks out then unplug each injector 1 at a time and crank the engine. If the same then plug that injector back in and continue down the line. Other things to check would be engine and ecm grounds. Ecm voltage and codes. Live data on a scan tool or software would help. But with the problem i had it did not help me narrow the problems down.
@@epicfishingadventure365 no problem! Also if you have trouble building or maintaining fuel pressure , the check valve located on the back of the cylinder head is common to hang open
Mannnn listen , i did the same to my truck and started like a champ , THANKS 🙏🏾

Wow. Would figure they are all on its own path 2 ECU. Good job mechanic
Cool find I didn't know they could fail like that
Nice thumbnail.
Some days are like that.
Great job!!!
Awesome find
Thanks. Appreciated.
Wow! That's a new one!
Good find
So if just need a new injector?

I'm old Mack guy the eup wires are on the outside of the valve cover
nice job 👍 .... this motor has no jake??

Do you a contact or email addr, truck been down 6 months . That same issue just turned off on me.
It automatic transmission I shift

I had that problem it was a pin hole on fuel supply line causing air to get in the line
@Heavy Pressure Inc how did you detected the pin hole on the fuel line
@Heavy Pressure Inc I have the same problem cranks no start
@@namliu6706 I knew air was getting in system so I started to change out lines and just ran across it. It’s only a few lines on supply side
@Heavy Pressure Inc thanks, going give it try, meanwhile I start the truck with someone help to turn the ignition, while am pumps the fuel pump
Wow
What if it more than one
Will it start if you fill the fuel bowl ?
it started in this video once i unplugged the #2 injector.. it was shorted internally taking out all the other injectors when it was plugged in.
Is this a 12.7 or a 14 ?
14 liter in a freightliner columbia
