One last comment about trading someone else for McGroarty. I agree, I wish they could have kept Yager. I’m willing to bet the Penguins tried to include anyone else other than him. But it takes two to tango. I have to imagine it was either a trade for Yager or no trade at all with the penguins. I could be totally wrong, obviously I’m guessing right along with all of you. But the Penguins lack of any type of star power/depth in their prospect pool might have forced their hand. And I’m ok with that. Brayden Yager might end up being the better player in 10 years, who knows. But as of right now, today, I would make this trade every time
This is a tough one I really liked Yager wish we could have done something else for Mcgroarty n had both
I said the same thing
even after all the moves made this summer (which I’ve liked), I still think the biggest question mark is jarry. He needs to put together a consistent year
Totally agree
This trade along with the other moves that have been made make me think this team is going to be a lot better this season.
I don’t see anyway that O’Connor doesn’t start on the first line with the way that line looked at the end of last season.
I'm not sure a guy with no nhl experience should be the favorite for the top lw spot. I think doc starts the year and has earned that. I think you start groarty with less pressure on a lower line and pace him for a full nhl season. If he can handle it, and doc falters, then maybe you can place groarty there. I do like the way your other lines add up.
I agree.
The key number here is 176. The combined age of the Penguins 5 best players. If Yager is a year behind McGroarty in development, you don't have time to wait for him. 3 years from now when this core is cooked, it won't matter if your best young player is 23 or 22.
He kinda looks like a young Ulf Samuelsson. They should give him # 5.
I think this is a really good trade for both teams. The Jets have been looking for a 2C solution for a while and the Pens are looking to enhance their aging roster this season.
Their’s no guarantee that Yager stays at center though. I have been super high on BY as well. I think he’ll be a good player in this league with the possibility becoming an all star for us. But so can Rutger McGroarty. Personally, I believe this was a good move bc I agree with this video. He has a slightly higher ceiling than Yager IMO. He’s also been a captain and leader for pretty much every team hes been on. I’m pumped for him to learn from the likes of Crosby and Co.
First of all: GO BLUE!!!! Also, he's an absolute monster. Pens fans will love him soon. He's the net front present we need.
McGroarty is an absolute stud. He's the power forward, and young leader that this team has been craving. I see him playing with Sid and Rusty.
if he could become bunting or sam bennet 2.0 omg
I wish I caught the live to ask your thoughts on Laine going to MTL.
Just from the comments it Looks like Dubas is gaining some fans
I'm definitely one!!! Have been since we got him and trusting everything he does.
I’ve been hoping Dubas trades for McGrorty for 4 months, can’t believe he did it. Sucks it has to be Yager though
@@NobuhikuObayashi yes, obviously, but we traded for a guy who IS NHL ready, big, crashes the net, and has playmaking & great hands......we've NEEDED this. We improved by 20+ positions in the NHL scouting report. Rutger is 36 & Yager is 58. A one on one trade that we did better, awesome. It unfortunately had to be Yager, I hear ya pal
@@NobuhikuObayashi I know nothing about this kid other than whats being talked about now hopefully he lives up to the hype
I literally called Mcgoraty to Pitt a few weeks back!
Great trade. He needs to work on his skating if he wants to start next to Sid. Sid's hockey IQ can accommodate for just about anyone, they just need to be able to keep up with him.
Another possible situation for Jarry is Vancouver. Demko has not healed as he was expected to, and may require surgery on that knee, which would mean missing a significant part of the season.
Pens fans realzing that it doesnt matter if Yager is better if he wont be ready till Crosby retires
DOC, McGroarty, Bunting are your top three LWs. Sort out the order in camp. Bottom 6 C and RW is a total mystery.
Capitals fan site, RMNB even covered the trade. They however, often cover Penguin news because they live in the heads of all Craps fans.
I've watched alot of Yager videos on the TUBE and he is excellent in the highlights. Yager was my hope. FUTURE DANGER WARNING! When Sid and Geno retire who are going to be Rutger McGroarty's centers? That is when he will demand a trade from a rebuilding basement cellar team with no hope. That is when the Pens will need a new center like Yager who is perfectly timed and was on track to enter the organization when 87/71 retire. Let's watch and see. Hopefully RM rips it up for the Pens.
Should've done Pickering and a 2nd, I'd even do Blomqvist since we have Murashov on ELC now
Still a good deal though, McGroarty is our Matthew Tkachuk, he's gonna be awesome
that a hot take clam down lool i hope he coul be bunting or sam bennet
WBS is going to be legit.
This will be dubas best trade by far.
My projected lineup for opening day is:
DOC, Crosby, Rust
Bunt, Geno, RR
Mcg, Eller, Pustinen
Lizotte, Hayes, Acari
What about Glass?
@@matteospinosi5925 who in that unit I listed do you see him replacing?
Sid and the Kid part 2?
I would of traded a package of Winnipeg native Owen Pickering, Sam Poulin (bust), and a pick or 1 of the goalie prospects and held on to Yager.
we wanted to like let be honest jets would never give up less for him
Too early to call bust on Poulin, he’s played 6 nhl games over 2 seasons lol. Not exactly a good sample size
My thoughts are--Mcgroraty is an ass -jets just spent 2 years rebuilding the culture there.,Giving in to his request would have set that dressing room 3 steps backwards. Good for him and pitsburgh . Pitsburgh culture is well established because of Syd. Syd will definiyley tame this asses ego
All that stuff was a rumour, he didnt make demands for ice time he just didn’t like the organization
Jets just ruin prospects lol
He wanted out bc they refused to play him lol
Jets GM said in an interview, they never ever even discussed playing time once. It came out that McG just didn't want to be on Winnipeg. McG said the jets uniform didn't feel right.
@@marksydor3108 His story changed several times, last report was he was going back to college...apparently not, he`s a bullshitter first class
The problem with how the pens handle their prospects in an unending cycle. In my opinion guys like Accari, Nieto, Eller, should’ve never been signed last offseason. Because of the logjam of older players on 2way deals it forces the pens to not use their youth until injuries happen and ultimately lose the youth players in FA. They literally have nothing to show for in the Kessel trade anymore because they allowed PO to walk because they decided to sign Gryzlck who is an older guy and honestly at this point of his career probably is a downgrade. Young guys don’t thrive in the pens system because they’re given a short leash and are health bombed after a bad game, meanwhile they cater to Malkin turning over the puck and taking bad penalties because he’s earned that right. In my opinion the favor treatment for veterans is why the pens are in this spot.
well dubas has to trade player cause they are over 50 contract slot hey need to trade 2 player in order to be at 50 or lower
Did the Pens trade for Bedard or some kid who was a mid first round pick? This video makes it very hard to tell. Are the Pens so bad that a 19 year old kid who’s only played against children is a top line player?
He’s one of the best prospects in the league
@@NobuhikuObayashi he’s a prospect in the league.
The Pens made a mistake getting rid of Yeager he was averaging almost 2 points a game.
I hope RM worksnout well and understand the trade but Indo hope Yager continues to grow. He was an absolute beast in the playoffs last year and did his best to drag them along in that memorial cup tourney. Wish him the best and will be sad to see him eventually score on the Pens.
how they make mistake that we got young player that is gonna e ready and need younger player right now ???
Max Talbot was averaging the same in the juniors...
ye in the WHL. Rutger had a ppg in the NCAA. Both very impressive.
Just works out better for our timeline horizion
