As a former cop I truly believe that unmarked cars should only be used in undercover surveillance, warrant service, and SWAT operations. Everyone knows when they see a cop car marked they slow down, there's more to policing than just writing tickets and making arrests just being present is a great deterrent and policing is all people skills not brute force.
You're right. Unmarked cars are restricted from doing stops for traffic violations due to situations when they first started being used by kidnappers posing as undercovers. If one flashes lights, you're supposed to call 911 and have the dispatch check first because it's impossible to know whether it's an actual undercover officer.
Police officers are an unnecessary evil on this world. You were one of them, you should know firsthand. Every person that ever became a cop made that decision because they were either bullied in high school, or they couldn't make it in the real world. So now this is their way of getting back at the people who have treated them like shit their whole lives. Sounds like some pussy ass shit to me 🤷💯

@@mattyjdyoutub A pit maneuver is much safer than what the idiot cop did. Cars have seatbelts and airbags. Bikes have none of that. And you pit a car to make it stop. This motorcycle already pulled over for him, but he rammed it anyway.
His car hitting him at 5miles an hour isnt going to kill him. Considering he broke multiple traffic laws while putting his life and others lives and safety on the road in danger. Along with that at that point most bikers who are doing those kinds of activities are the ones who will run from cops so his use of using his car to incapacitate the bikers bike is justified. However his use of force is not justified at all. The biker was in a state of confusion as to what happened but he was complying with the officers commands. The officers use of force (using his foot) is not legal by any means. He should be put on administrative leave and then either fired or have to take multiple classes on use of force and be watched by a training officer when back out on the road (for at least minimum of 3 months).
imo there should be a 3 strike system, while this is an example of a cop being a dumbass, there's plenty more grey area situations where the cop is probably right to over estimate the situation than under estimate it. If you get it wrong 3 times you're out. There should obviously be serious misconduct in any job and more serious offences should mean they lose their job.
True, the cop should have been punished and suspended, but the bikers should have got punished, too. You should have had his license taken away from him. motorcycle confiscated and put in jail for reckless driving and speeding.
@@howlinhaulerwe're not talking about imaginary things tiger were talking about reality, traffic infraction at best, completely overboard and assault and battery with deadly weapon.
Undercovers are not supposed to pull over people for traffic violations. Citizens can't be sure they're officers and when they were first being used widely, kidnappers would pose as undercovers and pull over lone women/mothers with kids. You're supposed to call 911 to check if they flash lights.
Seemed pretty in control to me. May have even saved that biker or someone else's life. Reckless public endangerment is a crime. The officer stopped it.
@@mattmarzulaThe problem is that a cop should never use that level of force or aggression in any situation. Yeah that biker was driving recklessly and might've gotten himself killed (unlikely he would have killed anyone else though) and could have caused some damage, but that's no excuse to treat him as less of a person.
Tax payers paid $180k to the rider. Cop is covered by QI, and even if fired he just took his Law enforcement license down the road and was back on the street on Monday, and is now carrying a grudge against bikers.
Until he meets a biker who does not give a shit. Ask anyone who rides, that was attempted murder. He has NO protection except what he was wearing. Yes he was riding like an idiot and still does not call for ramming a motorcycle. No lights no siren
Qualified immunity doesn't automatically apply to every situation. Qualified immunity is usually when a cop claims they didn't know what they did was wrong. If there is prior case law of a similar incident in which the cop was found to be wrong, then there's no qualified immunity. Also, in most states a police vehicle must be clearly marked to affect a traffic stop by law. Either way, qualified immunity doesn't matter. Even when cops don't get qualified immunity, the lawsuit is paid by the department, municipality, insurance or police union. It almost never comes from the cop's account, even when they are found to be held personally liable.
Both of these guys should be charged. The biker for traffic violations, the cop for vehicular assault, physical assault, breach of duty, and I am certain he lied on his report as well.
They were both charged. DYWTV? I think the rider only filed civil charges - but he obviously won. He was ticketed and jailed long before the civil case ended.
Traffic offences are a fine. He wasn't trying to evade police. He was being chased by a car with no police markings & it could have been a road rage. Cop physically attacked the biker. ASSAULT CHARGES
Cops are sent into situations that are violent and likely to end in some kind of altercation and thus it’s more likely for ppl (the suspects) to take issue with their conduct and try and sue them - No cop would try and make an arrest on anyone for fear of an assault or excessive force claim.
You don’t understand what QI or absolute or judicial immunity is. If the guy was awarded money or received a settlement that means QI was tossed already. QI prevents you from suing the officer. Should QI go away? Yes but it’s the city just deciding it’ll pay for the lawsuit that’s the problem. Good news is that the cop is on the hook for any punitive damages.
Cops need to have some sort of immunity- They’re put in dangerous situations, therefore much more likely to get into an altercation of some sort, and thus much more likely to have lawsuits filed against them.

If a cop has to provide their own insurance, they do so out of their taxpayer funded pay check. If the money comes from a police union, it was still financed by the tax dollars going into police pockets. The only change you can make if you want to see a financially based solution is putting responsibility on individual officers to provide insurance for themselves, and let the insurance companies decide when the liability is too big to let the cop keep working. But in the long run, all of that money was sourced via taxes and pumped through police paychecks into the insurance companies. Your tax burden will not change however... and may infact increase as they demand more pay for officer who must now buy insurance.

Not that they are perfect, as our local saying is something like "Only special people go to the police force". Yet, it seems we are like light years ahead of what seems to be soviet era conscription that happens in US law enforcement.
This was not an undercover cop. He was in full uniform, in an un-marked car (not an under cover car). Lots of police departments use un-marked cars for their traffic patrols.
Tell that to the jack booted thugs in Louisville KY.

Cops are sent into situations that are violent and likely to end in some kind of altercation and thus it’s more likely for ppl (the suspects) to take issue with their conduct and try and sue them -
No cop would try and make an arrest on anyone for fear of an assault or excessive force claim.
You don’t understand what QI or absolute or judicial immunity is. If the guy was awarded money or received a settlement that means QI was tossed already. QI prevents you from suing the officer. The only change you can make if you want to see a financially based solution is putting responsibility on individual officers to provide insurance for themselves, and let the insurance companies decide when the liability is too big to let the cop keep working.
