      @SPProps Pƙed 2 lety

      I got a LoupeDeck and have been working to consolidate my shortcuts there so I'm just using that and the mouse.
      When I'm done, I also delete the proxy and optimized media to help save even more space.
      Hope you have a great trip to Norway!

      Thank you for the video and for the hint with the trim start/end, we guess we should abandon the in/out pre-editing in the browser and also dump everything right away in the timeline :D
      Could you make a video on sound design, maybe explaining your preset in a basic way? The only thing we are using right now is a limiter, but I guess there is so much more (like we saw here)...

      I make music videos and FCPX works great for complicated projects i just use storylines and compound clips (similar to premiers "nested sequences") I used to work in Adobe for many years and after switching to FCPX i can't imagine going back i think you will like it more and more. Thank you for trim start and end shortcuts they will change my life :D

    Little tip: Turn off BACKGROUND RENDER in the Settings, especially on the very powerful M1 MacBooks, then you won't have to delete the render files at the end and the library will stay small (always under 50 MB), because it just won't prerender stuff. Works on powerful computers and performance is the same if not better.

    Nice Video! I also switched from Premiere to FCP half a year ago, and you are right, for simple edits it is really quicker. You probably know this, but you actually can add the conversion LUT before adding your clips to the timeline, without an adjustment layer. Select all the clips you want your conversion LUT on in your library, then go to the information board on the right ( with the info "i") and there you can choose Camera-LUT. This sometimes help to get a better impression of the image when doing “the big drop” before you cut anything away. On the other hand, this could decrease performance depending on your machine.
    Also, I started to have everything in the Library (project) Container, importing all the files in there. When sharing projects with other FCP editors, I know for sure that everything is in this one file. You can still copy the raw footage out of the container to someplace else if you need to.

    The best thing about this video is that it doesn't only fit FCPX workflow, you can watch it and use things like folders structure or personalised shortcuts to any other software. I personally use DaVinci Resolve, but I do have very similar workflow in some cases. The only thing I can suggest with audio, especially music, is don't always look at the numbers, because music tracks can vary in dynamic range and loudness, so -30 dB can be good for electronic or rock music, but not necessarily for calm ambient music, lo-fi or classical stuff. Use not only your eyes, but ears too, mixing sound can be an art too :) Cheers Matti!

      I'm going to try this too. Normally I create a new Library for each year - 2020, 2021 etc... and build projects within. It's too cumbersome.
      So I'll keep my yearly Libraries just for footage organization (a place to unload all footage until needed), and all projects now get their own dedicated Library.

    Believe by default its ALT- [ and ALT- ] instead of Q and W, for anyone who wants the FPX defaults. QW is a carry over from Premiere I think. CMD-B for slicing a clip.
    Also useful, Alt-T for audio crossfades between clips, especially talking head cuts.

    This video is great , I have been using premier pro for years. Recently editing has become sort of unpleasant and tedious for me. I was thinking of switching to Final Cut for awhile to see if that changes things up. I miss editing quick fun videos just for myself and maybe Final Cut will help bring that back. Premier pro has been feeling like to much work to me lately. Thanks for info this will help me get started 👍.
