  • Adjusting the Expansion valve on a Taylor 430 is not the first thing you want to do if your machine is not freezing properly, however, if your low side pressures are off, it may be the only way to get your machine to run efficiently. In this video, we show you how to make adjustments to the expansion valve.

    Oh, man! Thank you so MUCH for this video!!!!!! You saved my day today! THANK YOU!!!!! I just replaced filter-drier and two expansion valves on my Taylor C723 because of line restriction and machine finally started to work. However, after each 12-15 mins compressor would overheat and thermal protection will cut it off. So, my suction line pressure was ~20 and I’ve corrected it to 35. It increased refrigerant flow trough the low pressure side and as a result that refrigerant is cooling the compressor appropriately. Man, I am so happy that I’ve found your video today!

      Dude for a 723 expansion valve must be set at 16-17 psig for r404a. Anything else indicates a problem. Was your condenser clear, is the compressor overload failing, what is compressor amp draw? Plus 15 minutes is a long time for a freeze on a 723. Whats the viscosity set at? 35 psig is the wrong answer.

    You really should make adjustments with product in the machine. If not, it could be thrown off when you do put product in it. I'm a Taylor Technician for a distributor in Dallas, TX.

      @@scottgarrett7069was it a new machine or used? That could be from wear in tear over the years or from bent or warped beaters. If those grooves get too deep, that could cause issues with unit performance. I would call your local authorized Taylor distributor to have a service tech come out and take a look at your unit.

    Great video. Could you show us the port on the machine that you connected the gauges to? How many hoses were connected to the machine to get your readings. I have a 432, same as 430, except it has 2 barrels instead of one, and I’m having trouble locating which ports to plug my gauge into.

    Appreciate the information. How would you know if you were low on refrigerant vs needing to adjust the txv?

      only a technician with gauges on the machine can answer that. All else is conjecture.

      Monitor the head pressure (red gauge) while it's running. You should be around 240-270 psi depending on inside ambient temperature. If your below that typically 200 psi or less, that's a sure indicator that the system is low on refrigerant, which would therefore mean there's a leak in the system somewhere. If the suction is low too, that's even more proof that it's low. But usually tge AXV will still where it should but the high side pressure will be too low indicating low refrigerant in the system. I'm a Taylor Certified Technician. I service these machines all day lol.

      @@terrencejenkins7995I have a 430 that freezes too much in the reservoir. Is there an adjustment for this issue. The machine just recently started doing this. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    • @terrencejenkins7995
      @terrencejenkins7995 Před rokem

      @@bluejay2go The reservoir? Do you mean the hopper where the liquid mix sits in at the top? If so, then that would indicate that the EPR valve is set too cold. You’ll need to put a blue gauge on that valve to see what the pressure is is set to. Those should be set to 69-70psi. If lower than that then you’ll need to adjust the valve and raise the pressure. If you can’t adjust it and it’s stuck wherever it is, the valve will need to be replaced.

    When you mention head pressure you don't look at the suction gauge.... head pressure deals high side.

    Hi what can go wrong on my Taylor icecream machine, the blower doesn't work when auto is on, both autos. They will work both autos but only for like 3mins or so then machine shots down.

      Could be many reasons, where is the viscosity set? Beater motors could be drawing too many amps before product is frozen.
