Because everyone seems to want to know, I have finally answered the question I've been getting for 3 years.
HOW TO DO IT IN A HAMMOCK:
czcams.com/video/T7Yf-IIKIu4/video.html
Are you a Christian??? You have a Bible verse behind you in this video
Great video, thanks. Also fantastic to hear someone (finally!!) talking about LYING in a hammock (which is correct English), rather than laying, (which is the past tense of lying, or, can be used when speaking of an object, ie. laying the hammock on the floor, the book on the table, etc.).
👍👍👍
I’m 5’9” 260lb and have a long history of back issues that i don’t believe are all that common. I was an undercover narcotics detective for many years - during a surveillance operation i was in an undercover Nissan Altima sitting stationary “double-parked” on a residential street (lights & flashers ON) when a cocaine filled drunk driver in a modern day TANK (Lexus LS) decided my Altima needed its trunk rearranged so that it sat in my backseat...
40 MPH was the estimated speed at impact, but it was enough to delete the trunk AND cause my body to BREAK the recline gear on my driver seat, propelling me backward.
Needless to say - the jet-fueled idiot fled the scene and I CHASED HIS ASS. LOL!!!! Until, of course, my rear tires became smoked grated cheese from rubbing on the newly redesigned trunk...
I was screwed out of any compensation (god bless the USA) and was left with a lifetime of ever-expanding arthritis in the center of my back as well as a slipped/herniated disc.
I’ve tried everything, and now sorta just ignore the discomfort. But my sleep quality is horrific in the last year or so.
I HAVE BEEN CONSIDERING DOING EXACTLY THIS - I even bought a “double” hammock that can handle 500-600LBS I believe but I just can’t pull the trigger....
With all the above in mind, would you say this could be a good solution for me? Or is this only something that a slender, overall healthy dude like yourself could pull off or benefit from?
@@flojotube That's a wild back story. Hammocks are like snowflakes, every single one is different and made of water, a specific hammock for a specific spine, I say give it a whirl
@@flojotube I say go for it! I have one & also have a herniated lumbar disc. No pain so far from the hammock!

YES! when I was hallucinating on mushrooms, that's how it felt when I got up from mock-sleeping.
Another point for hammock sleeping.
4 uncomfortable nights out of 90 is still a LOT better than I usually get in a bed.
For real, I can’t even stay asleep for more than three hours at a time before I wake up because I’m uncomfortable.
@@itskidkelly replace your mattress...
Try the woven Mayan type hammocks. They are superior to the nylon fabric. You could lie on a book all nigh and not feel it. Beds caused me chronic back problems. Not so with the hammock and I've been sleeping in it for 4+ years.
I am glad i am not the only one that has the same bed problems. We have the Brazilian ones and i like it i have been sleeping in a hammock for 3 years
Thank you for this Noah's Ark- I would like to try and begin my journey again...its been 49 years since I enjoyed sleeping in a hammock in a tug boat going down the Amazon river...there were no beds but just hammocks and we did this for three months. I had the most wonderful and relaxing time even though it rained a lot and the heat can sometimes be sweltering. My husband and I share a king side bed but since my care accident I have had a hard time sleeping in the bed or getting a good night's rest. I would like to try and indoor hammock - we have a huge master's bedroom. I can put a hammock stand and the hammock in it. What product or type of stand and hammock should I buy? Please advise. My accident happened years ago and no breaks in my bones or ligaments- just chronic pains due tot he accident the curve in my neck is not the same. Would appreciate your advise. I just read your comment 3 years ago. Because I am considering hammocks and I came across your comment in 2019- 8/27/19, Thank you and God bless.
This right here makes me want to get a hammock and sleep up in it all the time. Thank you for sharing your information with us!
This video lasted for 4:20.... coincidence I think not
Hahahaha
4:19 actually

I sleep on the floor for like years 18 and it's pretty neet
Floor sucks hurt my back
"Get off your butt Sam! And go to school!" lmao
Been sleeping in a hammock a few months now myself! Absolutely love it. Please do a sleep number review. Thank you.
You are a very amusing young person, thank you I did enjoy that light entertainment. Thanx
I lived in a hammock for 2 years in NYC apartments. it was amazing and helped with space. for winter a blanket under and one on top will keep you warm... only reason I am not sleeping in it now is because my new place on west coast has a bead and it is in storage... if you go corner to corner on a room it can work almost anywhere.
That's interesting ...
perhaps
Why are people only commenting now lol
I slept in a hammock for like 7 years for about 70% of nights. It’s incredibly comfortable
This video inspired me to sleep in the hammock I used for camping every night. I am glad its been a year since ive slept in a bed, switching was the best idea ever. I can't thank you enough. Also my name is also Sam, and I have that same hammock....weird.
Perhaps you're him but from a parallel universe...?
About 4 years for me and I feel great. More comfortable than any bed. I love the hammock. Girlfriend hates it.
@@_gdmoto Of course you can and is way better 😏
Just get a bigger one
Your personality is adorable
Three months is a great start! Congrats.
I think I'm somewhere around month 120 of sleeping only in a hammock. Obviously, I'm still a novice, but I'm working on it. :)
I need help hanging my hammock. Can you help me?

Desk bed, great idea... sleeping in a hammock, great idea... adderall, great idea
dude keep this channel alive, you could do great!
I've been sleeping in one for 9 months and about a week ago stopped. sure their better than tents and especially futons (which I had before) but they can start to hurt your lower back. than aging I have some very specific back problems.
One of your reasons is because of space....yet you won't have room for it in your new apartment.
+Gavin Peterson Room for the desk, but fair criticism :)
+Gavin Peterson You need walls that are the proper distance and points to attach
+Fresh Cuts you don't need a desk to sleep in a hammock
+Shlomo D Any +10 sqft size room should do it, smaller than that its not a room, its a closet.
+Marcos Marshall Yep, exactly! You need 2 hooks about 10 feet apart, and to do that you either need to build a setup like this or drill into the wall. If you're in an apartment you probably can't drill into the walls, so you'll need a room wide enough to set something up.
what a star, never was such a fine presentation.
You have a wonderful personality! Thank you for the info.
When you popped up in the first part of the video, it made me laugh.
Awe this is a cute and informative experiment!
I use a hammock stand indoors that I got off amazon. I like being able to move my hammock around and being in an apartment saves me from having to do a bunch of wall patches when i move out
I have a Dutchware 11ft netless single layer hammock and its way more comfortable than the shorter ENO hammocks, it just makes a great bed and they are around $40-50. Everyone should try using a hammock instead of a bed.
I didn’t need to know any of this information, yet I’m still appreciative of it.
That's the best compliment I've gotten all week
Question for yeah. What did you sleep with for warmth. Any under quilt or blanket or anything? I'm going to need something since it is 60 in the house and that gets a bit chilly for nothing. Wondering if you kept it warm in your area or add blankets
Love it. Fun to watch and informative. PTL!
I have a sleep number bed... Love it, have a good hammock too, keep going bro!
Awesome video!! Thank you for sharing your hammock love!!
Some of us have been in hammocks for years , I even have one in my truck , I don't mean a large ute , a real Mack truck . I prefer to just wander into the bush of a night when traveling but in cities I can hang it inside my bunk
Wow now i wanna try this. Are there no side effects on your back/spine at all? If so i might just try it.
awesome bro love your video. Love your enthusiasm. Love the idea
😂 “so get off your butt Sam, and get ready for school!” I approached this video and have been wanting to get one because I hate my mattress, and with a low budget, I’d rather live a minimalist life.
I slept on the floor for 6 months without curtains or thick sheet. I also hadn't refrigerator or washing machine. My first week was without eletricity and I hadn't wardrobe too. My life was really a shit. Nowadays I just don't have company, but it is better now that I have comfort. I don't wish this for anyone.
Love the idea man! Any chance you could make a video showing/explaining how you built/how to build a similar stand? Looks like yours is pretty sturdy! Thanks for the cool idea, and funny video.
+Alex Dennard I might! I don't have my bedesk in my current place but if I were to build another one I would definitely make a vid. You can watch how to make a hammock if you want!
Thanks for making me feel good about having just ordered my first hammock
I slept in a hammock for about 4 years and I only recently switched to a bed because I moved out, and the house I'm remodeling will end up being a rental so I can't really set up a hammock (plus the walls definitely won't hold a hammock XD). It's always been really painful to sleep in a bed after sleeping in my hammock, so the first week in my new bed was really rough on my back until it adjusted and even now over a month later my neck hasn't stopped hurting (I might need to find a better/more minimalistic pillow, since I never needed one in the hammock). It's funny how making the switch from a bed to a hammock had zero pain but switching from a hammock to a bed has immense pain. Currently imagining myself laying in my old hammock, free of pain 🥲
you can make a smaller hammock easily with a bed sheet, i used a small ground sheet as a hammock when camping recently and it was half the size of a normal hammock, just curled up in it.
You can't really sleep in a small hammock. It's ok for a nap, but not as a replacement for a good nights sleep...
Like a little ferret😍
Good informative video. Thanks.
Any recomendations for hammock wall mounts?
In 1987 I was in a severe car accident where my car flipped a few times so I've been going to the chiropractor. I was having severe back pain in 2015-2016 and so I got rid of my bed and replaced it with a hammock for a year and to this day I have never been back to the chiropractor!!! Now this year I'm thinking about going back to a hammock, because I I toss and turn and I can't sleep through the night on a mattress, the because there are no pressure points in a hammock I can sleep all through the night.
I tried sleeping in a hammock once, but ended up looking more like a tangled caterpillar than a beautiful butterfly 🐛😂

Youre pretty funny, you have a very nice personaity
PTL! Awesome bro!
This may be the greatest video on youtube
You're so freaking hilarious! I died when you said the thing about the sleep number. How in the world did you manage to get a free one?!
+Valerie Serbu Hey thanks, you should subscribe so you can see my new videos when they come out!! Getting a sleep number bed is super easy, all you need is 1) a grandma with a sleep number bed, and 2) she gives it to you.
+Fresh Cuts Oh, duh lol. I guess I thought you meant you were sponsored by sleep number or something, but that would be a little extreme. I subscribed, and see that you have some pretty cool content! Keep up the good work :-)
How do you keep your shoulders from bunching up, and how do you keep your legs below your head?
This guy really likes hammocks.
Does your neck hurt? What's going on with all the head twitching? How do you make your eyes bug out so much like that?
Hey you should totally do a video on how you built your hammock stand/bed/desk
Enjoyed the video....Thanks
I assume (from reading the information in the description) you are currently sleep on a Sleep Number bed? Just because it was free doesn't force you to NOT sleep in your hammock, right?
Keep the free bed, sleep in the hammock occasionally. Just my opinion, nothing more. Either way, thanks for posting and sharing Sam!
Sounds like a solid upgrade to a bed. The fact that it would be a geometric challenge to get laid in it is of no consequence. In fact that is a bonus.
I have slept in a hammock every night for over 4 years other than the occasional passing out on the couch. I will never sleep in a bed again, I am always in extreme pain trying to sleep flat i just can't do it. Added bonus during hot summer nights with nothing but air under you is fantastic.
Idk why this is in my recomended but i enjoy it
The main reason I want to try a hammock is for hot summer night's when it so hot and hummid at least the sweat on my back would ventilate underneath the hammock.
I don't know who you are, or what the hell I'm doing here; but I now need a hammock.
Absolute mad lad.
dude, why don't you have more viewers? Pretty ok camera work, good presence while on camera and interesting videos. Also, what kind of hammock do you have?
Sleeping in a hammock is awesome. I have a hammock and a bed in my room. if I'm congested, my shoulders hurt, or my back in general hurts, I'll sleep in the hammock and I'm all better. I also get a better sleep in the hammock.
My sam is name, i weed smoke, let it tell you about me...

Yeahj brother, keep bringing those good vibes to the dimethyltryptamine world!
Hey Sam, I have terrible back pain sleeping on a mattress, so I've been considering getting a hammock, but what would you say about the back support for the hammocks that have the bars at each end
Ik its been 4 years, but those are awful. They are higher risk at tipping and less comfortable.
Ever notice waking up from a hammock sleep and urinating. It seems to be darker urine at first then clears up half way through the piss.
Good vid man, and lol you are one strange cat
Hahaha your opening was hilarious:D
They put you on my recomendded because they somehow know I sleep in one too . not only that I sleep on the exact same style firelite outdoor double in the same colours. Have a great sleep I know I will. P.S. I run a string fr9m eyehook to eyehook and run it through my carabiners.Makes an excellent place to mount a reading light and drape a tarp if you ever take it outdoors
I want an hammock for sleeping in, how taut does it have to be to get the best results.
what did you do w/ the hammock?
The intro was gold
I have a question though... I get really cold during winter is it possible to cocoon yourself in a comforter in a hammock and feel comfortable?
Oh, and where did you get your hammock?
just put a camping mat under you and it will keep your back warm even inside. I have done that when it was 40 outside and was warm all night. You can also look up Hammock Underquilt
I have slept in a hammock indoors for 2 years. I loop elastic from one end of the hammock to the other, then drape a blanket under my hammock. I use a down quilt, but any will work. I then use clips to secure the blanket and keep it in place. Hope this helps.
Where did you get the hammock? Also when you buy one for sleeping, do you have to buy a certain one or is any indoor/camping one fine?
I got mine online, and I just used a plain camping one!
Love this video
pros: doesn't take much space
cons: wont fit in new apartment
I have a hammock from papa new guinea and its awsome
We sleep in hammocks full time now, and I stopped going to the chiropractor. When I go to hotels and have to sleep in a bed, I wake up with my back KILLING me!!! No pressure point issues, and I sleep better than I have EVER slept!
May want to have a backup mattress to roll on the floor for those occasions you can't climb on, but I'm slowly being converted into a pro-hammock guy.
How did you make the desk
You should try bathsalts next sam!
Yeah my dude, you just earned a subscriber.
My hammock actually hangs across my bedroom, above my older Select Comfort bed. I sleep in the hammock every night.
Same here!
That was fun. Thanks!
You left out the part about how, with just a little push on the wall, you can rock yourself to sleep.
I just subbed cuz you said "share this... Or dont... I dont care."
How can you set up a hammock in your room?
4 nights of bad posture in 3 nights causing pain is 4 nights more than I would have from sleeping in a normal bed. The hammock doesn't really give you total body support, and will fuck up your posture and joints if you use this for years upon end. Just FYI, and there's a reason why people don't normally use this as their main type of bed. Nice vid though, good luck
It's a damn shame you can't put up a hammock in your new place.
I hammock camp, and I would sleep like the dead. After one trip I crawled into my bed woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck.
I though why not try the hammock. slept in it for 2 weeks, felt great. Then just to be sure I slept in my bed, woke up with back and shoulder pain. Went back to the hammock, and haven't slept in a bed for 2 and a half years! lol
Two things you didn't mention is, one it's easier to wash a hammock than a bed, and no risk of bed bugs, two the rocking motion accelerates rem sleep. So you get a longer deeper sleep.
I love you're videos!Im buying a hammock off of amazon today and replacing my bed with it.please post more videos!also,it would be awesome if you would give me a shoutout
You are getting a shout out in my next video.
I love this kid!!! Your a cool guy in my book! And I am totally trying this =) once I figure out how to hang it =/
exactly what i was looking for this video. Where did you get this hammock? how long did it take to install?
+Pwagismyname Thanks! I don't recall the brand this hammock was as I don't have it anymore, but I got it off of ebay, a little more than $30. It's a double nest! And it only took a couple hours to build the desk.
Scoliosis says hello
You are so crazy lmao its cool might get a hammock
What about cuddling with an SO?
Subbed bc you're hilarious
So like its minimal but you have no space?
