  • Taking a stroll up Brown Clee from Abdon on a brisk January afternoon. Brown Clee is the highest hill in Shropshire and stands tall between Bridgnorth and Ludlow in the south of the county. The panoramic views from the summit take in much of the west of England and mid Wales and are most definitely worth the walk. I shall return on a nicer day later in the year.

Lovely video. The tall radio tower belongs to the Home office (West Mercia police) the square tower is a replacement for an old wooden tower which housed microwave dishes for BT, and receiving equipment for the civil aviation authority RADAR on titterstone Clee, titterstone Clee is the transmitter. My dad used to work there. His first gaffer there was a guy named Dickey Barratt, who was taught about RADAR by Watson Watt, the guy who invented RADAR or as it was known at the time RDF. There are no higher hills between the Clee Hills and the Ural mountains in Russia.

      Thanks for the info!
Do you know if the fact that they are the highest point before Russia was part of the reason these radio towers were built?
