  • I can’t even lie to y’all, I never listened to Dan Bull before last week with the Civilization Rap but dude has every powerful and educational music and visuals in his videos…Police Brutality is something American has dealt with for a long time and there are flashes from the past that come about with instances like George Floyd, Breanna Taylor and even Colin Kaepernick that has to be addressed because it’s an ongoing problem minorities have with not being heard, or being mistreated from authorities…Even people like myself live a certain way because of our sad reality…comply with police…walk a different direction than the lady with the purse…not wear hoods even though it’s FREEZING…jobs tryna get you to cut your dreads like it’s so crazy man but police brutality is the one thing that might be the most degrading cause you can’t control it at all!
    Give me your thoughts on this track, have you dealt with or known someone that had a sticky altercation with the police??
    Like, and subscribe to the channel for more dope reactions and lemme know what else to react to!

    It’s all good, you don’t need to apologize for saying how things are. Even most white people know these days.
    I agree with you about being wary. It drives me crazy when people encourage people to argue their rights when they get pulled over. That person has an easy life and has never had to fear for their life from a thug with a badge. Would they be arguing about their rights if it was a kid with a gun robbing them instead of a cop? I don’t think so. Why? Because they know they’d probably get shot.

    Sure, anyone can suffer police brutality, but police sure seems to have that "itchy finger" when it comes to certain folk.
    Great reaction by the way!
    Dan Bull has a few awareness songs like this one, not about police brutality but mostly about climate change, like the Floodland Song and his Golf Club: Wasteland Rap, really great songs if you wish to react to those in the future.

      Yea see that’s what I mean cause it’s so educational and unexpected out of a rap but it’s so needed…and he does a good job using his platform to shed light on things

      @@toongodlive I'm pretty sure Dan Bull is one of the only Nerdcore people that dabbles in that kind of field, probably because he isn't afraid of losing views with is songs, could also be because his audience is already accostumed to his content.
      I just feel that if another artist from the Nerdcore scene tried something like that, more of an educational stuff, as you put it, it wouldn't go as well.
      Not that they sould do so, but it would be something different than the everyday Nerdcore stuff.

      @@Kwb0_ the stupendium has some songs which are much more openly a message/call to action (like the song lights on a truck about the commercialising of christmass) , but even on their video game tracks they tend to put message into them (eg bendy and the ink machine songs with a focus on poor working conditions)

    about the 5:00 kinda stuff, i do know some people like that, but the stuff about people who deserved to get picked on because of stuff they do makes me angry for 2 reasons. 1 i got bullied relentless for something as simple as crying, as showing emotions, and this seems like the kinda talk that builds to that shit.
    and 2 i know for a fact that a good number of the kids who where bullied for being weird where in fact neurodivergent or had some disorder or another, and you bullying us doesnt fix us it just traumatised us and forced people to mask who they where to fit in.
    and plus, their is really no way of knowing if the kids you bullied would have gone on to be malicous in power if you didnt bully them or if it emerged in response to your bullying
    and with the tiktok stuff, its worth noting that it happens to literally every minority, and hits people with intersections of multiple minoirities, more ( like black women, or lgbtq+ poc)

    I've only had one real interaction with the police, and it certainly wasn't enjoyable.
    Me and a friend, when we were like 16, were just walking around goofing off near his neighborhood and saw a house that'd been foreclosed for months, and the side gate was open just a bit. So, we figured it wouldn't be a big deal to go in and just chill in the backyard. Well, apparently a neighbor saw us going back there and called the cops, reporting us as "a couple of armed, mid-20s white trash thugs". So after like 10 minutes we hear yells from the front telling us to come out, hands up. We come out through the gate and see literally like 8 cops, all pointing their guns at us. Most of them put them away as they cuffed us but one or two stayed drawn the whole time.
    Was fucking terrifying, but thankfully they just handed us over to our parents after taking us to the station for like an hour

      See, the thing that gets me about BS like that is when people call the cops and say the person had a weapon, when they didn't see a damn weapon.
      They don't see a gun, they assume they have one and intentionally escalate the situation for no reason other than they wanna see the cops kill someone for their own sick amusement

    I'm sorry, but saying anyone deserves to be picked on, for any reason. Much less because they are "weird"? I am sorry, but that might be one of the most ignorant things I have heard. I mean no offense, but yeah, Just because someone does not match up to what you think of as normal, does not mean they should be picked on, or "shown" how weird they are. That is just as bad as being picked on because you are black, or white.

    • @ToonGodTV

      Depends where you grow up at because sometimes picking on someone who’s showing signs of weirdo behavior such as a student who takes pictures of girls while they aren’t looking…someone who likes to eat crayons, someone who likes to do things that make others uncomfortable…rather it’s right to pick on them or not, humiliation is one of the first teachers when it comes to growing up…I don’t necessarily condone bullying, but putting people in check when they are doing things they shouldn’t be doing reinforces the notion that what they are doing isn’t right…
      A big example is a child who likes to torture/hurt bugs and animals for fun are more likely to do those things to actual people…normally it’s the parent that corrects them but kids who see this will mainly bully that kid for those traits rather you believe its wrong for them to do that or not, it could actually be preventing a child from harming people because they realize their actions are met with bullying
      Thank you for your comment give me your thoughts on my reasoning

      @user-kf9pd6vt3z Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@ToonGodTV Your reasoning, is partially sound. However, bullying, or picking on people, for "eating crayons" or "taking pictures of girls who aren't looking" is no better than the acts you say, are being "taught to not be done". Who puts the bullies in check? Because, if you will pick on the guy torturing bugs, you will pick on the poor girl who is sitting quite and shy in clothes she has no choice but to wear two or three days in a row.
      Now, for the statement of a child who hurts bugs and animals. If they are truly capable of harming others, bullying them will only encourage them to perhaps hurt the bully. No, the real way to stop that behaviour, is to tell a teacher, if we are discussing younger kids, or actually try to talk to the person doing those things. Because, I can assure oyu, there is a reason for such activities, and truthfully? Rarely do those people go on to be serial killers. Despite the erroneous popular opinion on that.
      Bullies are not a good deterrent for weird behavior. Nor are they doing any good service. For my proof, all I need do is point out ANY school shooting. Lets simply look at Columbine. Weird kids bullied, cost other kids their lives. So, sorry, but bullying is never a good recourse, nor is it needed. And I am speaking as someone born and raised in Brooklyn NY, and was not bullied, before those thoughts enter other's minds.
      I did however see a lot of it, and it never helps. It never stops the actions. It merely makes the situation worse. People who do extremely weird things, have either mental, or emotional reasons for it. And bullying merely exacerbates the problem.
      So, I reiterate. If by your reasoning, it is okay to "put those doing weird or wrong things in check with bullying', who checks the bullies? Who tells them how wrong they are?
      Thank you for your reply, and discussion.

      @@user-kf9pd6vt3z my last retort is that how do you feel about “cancelling” people, do you believe that is too an act of new age bullying? Or do you think it’s justifiable in todays society

    • @ToonGodTV
      @ToonGodTV Před 7 měsíci

      Also it’s numerous of ways people decide not to be defined by how they were treated, piggy backing off the poor girl in old clothes comment, I’ve known many people that were picked on for never having nice clothes and in return, they decided they’d find a way themselves to not ever put themselves or their children in a predicament of not having new clothes for school…sometimes it can’t be a form of motivation but to each is own I suppose..I just grew up in a different environment..my girlfriend in particular used to get picked on for having bad Acne growing up and as of today she has some of the clearest skin I know..I myself used to get “picked on” for liking anime and cartoons and I’m sure a lot of people did but we’ve all made a lane out of it and now it’s popular to like anime

    • @user-kf9pd6vt3z
      @user-kf9pd6vt3z Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@ToonGodTV Well to address 'cancelling'. I will say this, in some cases it is reasonable, in others? Yeah, it can be bullying. People use it, the same way they used the word 'triggering' and 'bullying' a few years ago to try and control people, how they spoke, what jokes they could make, etc. I am not a fan of censorship. Especially in the world of stand up comedy. As I am on this topic, this whole 'cancel culture' thing is the reason people cannot get monetized if they have words like 'die, kill and all the variations thereof, drugs, gun, suicide, etc' in their videos.
      Personally, I think it is just another form of controlling people. But, as I said, not in every situation. There is no catch all answer, but just like anything good, it can be used for bad.
      Now, to the bullying conversation. Yes, some people do manage to use bullying as either a tool for growing stronger, or even as a reason of pain and suffering to never be 'caught being weird' again. Now, I want to differentiate between bullying and being picked on. Because, one is something that is constant and borders on torture, while the other is an on and off thing.
      Neither one is a good thing, at all. However, on average, those who are bullied tend to not respond by getting stronger. Like you I have been picked on for loving anime and cartoons and other non-popular things at the time, just never bullied. I am, honestly, glad you and your girlfriend have both turned negatives into positives.
      Not many people can do that. More commit suicide, or turn to other forms of self harm. And to get this full circle, the cancel culture has done a lot of positive, but it also is the reason they almost got rid of the M&Ms characters for their sneakers. So yeah, I can see it as modern day bullying.

    As an outside observer i find the "slavery was 100s of years ago" argument incredibly disingenuous.
    Yes slavery ended hundreds of years ago but it was followed up by an official apartheid state until the late 60s.
    Which was then followed by an unoffical state of apartheid until the dawn of the internet; when people were no longer restricted to their immediate surroundings in their ability to spread awareness of the unofficial apartheid.
    Then you have the institutions such as law enforcement, who's primary purpose for the majority of the existence of the USA was to enforce slavery and then the apartheid, but have never been reformed since.
