Dude, when you peeled the Blu art off the Blockbuster backing...that shit BLEW MY MIND. I've been avoiding buying Blu-Ray's there forever because of that. Gonna save so much money now. Thanks!
@jbrock07 If you watched the video, then you understand my problem with them. People hurl plastic food containers and water bottles out every day. A Bluray case is something that you will probably keep forever. Don't fall for the bs that the studios care about the environment. They care about their bottom line, period. They've come up with a foolproof argument for being cheap on the cases. I'm all for the reduction of plastic waste, but I really don't see Bluray cases as trash.
P.S. I had a tooth pulled today and even vicodin could not relieve the pain (a RARE occurance). Your video was the first thing in 13 hours to divert my attention long enough for the pain to subside for a time. Thank you Dr. Jason. I will schedule another appointment soon.
I just came across this video. Its hard to believe this is 11 years old and they were doing this crap that long ago. Fortunately boutique labels have taken a lot of control in the physical media world and they know better than to use those crappy eco-cases.
I get the whole blue marketing thing, but I've always wished the cases were transparent white like DVDs used to be, the inside art would have been a lot more presentable
@TheKrazyJason First off I totally agree about the plastic bottles and food containers, I avoid if possible and recycle if not. If the "eco-cases" cases help the industry save money, that in my opinion is a great insensitive to use them and at the same time help the planet. I can also agree with about getting rid of plastic cases all together and go with recycled cardboard. Anyways love your vids and keep up the great work.
I never knew that was just a backing on the bluray blockbuster inserts and you can just peel it off. I have just been mind fucked! So that microfiber cloth will not scratch bluray/dvd discs? Cleaning discs is the one thing I have always avoided because I was afraid I would scratch it trying to clean it. They are even making the cases to tv shows (on dvd) more flimsy, for example It's always sunny s5 and Sons of anarchy s2, the cases feel really cheap and a different texture. Awesome vid KJ
im with ya on the stupid eco cases. One of the worst creations EVER.. I dont know how many artworks Ive had that were damaged because of them!!! I also hate how Disney and Paramount and going with generic blu and grey on their disc labels.. Really stupid and cheap!!!
Finally, a review that says why the eco-cases are worse: the holes will tend to allow rubbing if you grip the case too tightly. Also, the cases are not ecologically friendly, due to the Jevons Paradox.
Gr8 tutorial KJ, and your right you can use the other slot in the case to put your dvd in if you wanted to, I wasn't even thinking about that, now I need to see how many of my blu-ray's have that eco casing.
I love peeling the store stickers off the case and spiffying it up after. I find the perfect disc cleaner are the alcohol prep pads they use for injections. They are perfect for cleaning any discs. I wish reg dvds had slimmer space saving cases like the blu rays. They should have been like that from the get go. The shelves get filled quickly with bulk don't they. Nice Job Jason. :-) You Rock!!!
OMG You made such a great point with the takeaway food thing! This is an argument, nobody can deny. You are the Michael Moore of us movie collectors, Jason! lol The voice of the voiceless! Calling these crappy things "Eco-cases" is pure hypocrisy, because - as you pointed out - they are just a product of greed by the DVD companies. Ridiculous. Great video, man!
I dont belive in eco cases either. Then again I throw trash out my car window on the high way. This rock we love on is dead any way, haha wow I sound like a depressed ass hole. Man I just watch the good the bad and the ugly. How does that blu-ray look. The dvds was ok, but it was farrrrrrrrrr from being remastered, i think on scence i could see a coffe mug stain on the print. Nice vid pal.
@TheMediaBunker Well, I figure most folks might appreciate that rather than the rental cases from Blockbuster or where-have-you. Of course, I could be wrong (the thought did occur to me), but I think it's better because it will at least be uniform on their shelves. Thanks for watching!
Another rocking video... EXCEPT for one minor detail... I AM all about the candles and chickens... Mostly the chickens.. But hey, to each their own.... HOO-RAH!
Aside from a lack of chickens and midgets, this was a great video. The take-out food container visual was genius. "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" You're like the dude from Network, except with bluray cases. I wonder if the Network bluray will be in an eco-case....
Over here in the UK it seems we care little about the environment and more about quality packaging! These flimsy cases have not found their way to our shores yet! England 1 - Mother Earth 0
Um, if you put a disc into one of those crappy-assed "eco-friendly" cases to resell on eBay, aren't you just as bad as the distributors? I'm just saying... Anyway, great vid (as always). Keep up the good work!
nice air quote skills, I recently upgraded a few blu rental cases from blockbuster, oh what a glorious day it was!hehehe (my nerdiness knows no boundaries!?!!?)
I've been using the multi-disc blu-cases to create my own dvd/blu-ray combo packs. So much so that I regret getting rid of some of the movies I double dipped on dvd/blu. D'oh! I just caught what you're next tutorial was gonna be! =)
Eco cases are total garbage. The discs are always dusty and sometimes have fine scratches in them from the piler design of the disc tray. Also there's always holes punched in the artwork! It drives me crazy. I buy the Aceplus cases from Amazon. They are thick, hard plastic and worth every penny. $45 for a pack of 100.
I agree with your methods all the way bud. I need space and the Bluray cases are smaller and thinner and I am in the process of trying to move dvd ecoshit cases and likely put them in Bluray. However, have you tried this method? Not sure how I am going to get the art work to fit in the smaller Bluray packaging without shaving some of it off. Do you have any suggestions?
Amaray blu ray cases for the win. Amaray cases are the normal/default cases of Australia - stronger cases with a beveled oval blu ray logo on the front. I can't stand the printed on blu ray logo!
i got over 300 blu ray's now and i dont know how many are the eco blu ray case but i do know that it's alot for sure ,the only people who make there blu ray cases right is disney and sony and sometime's lion's gate othern then that the rest of the movie company's are just fuckig crazy puting a blu ray in a fucking nut bag of a case so thank u very much for that web site my ass got a nice project to do for my blu ray's too.
I never knew the Blockbuster artwork was just a backer. The only reason I never bought blu rays there was the fact that I wanted a real case with untampered artwork
thanks for that, I just randomly found a bluray a friend got me (Twilight-never seen it) and a film in my collection that I actually watch (Trick R Treat) had the eco friendly case, I just said WWKJD (What Would Krazy Jason Do) and I do the whole swaperoo.
nice video man! Eco cases really don´t save the world! You´re absolutely right with that! good idea with the digipaks! That would really help! Awesome movies btw! Sad that movie like "The Good The Bad And The Ugly" is in such a frikken shitty case! T.T Cool idea of you to make this video! Thumbs up! LG
One of you guys should lose your mind and burn down the factory that makes eco cases... Shit, get a kickstarter going for it... I'd gladly contribute to that!
I hate the cases with the recycle holes in them because they leave an ugly gray ring on the cover ..look at the cover of any ,live with that Eco holes crap you will notice an ugly gray line on the left side of the cover
The thing I do not understand is how much money is the studio really saving with those dam eco cases. And how much of the environment for that matter.. I HATE THEM
Those eco cases always feel so cheap. It kind of reminds me of the old big boxes PC games came in that just had a paper sleeve tossed in it holding the game. whats the point? We are paying for less.
Hey buddy! Finally time for your video i have been looking forward to this. Hehe, i agree there is no greater thrill. Hehe.. there are no chickens involved, candles or midgets hehe.. funny stuff man. You said that there wasn´t going to be a rant but you kind went into that alittle bit anyway :D I agree man there is nothing good about them. I always want my artwork straight aswell it bother me as hell if they are crooked. Boner bonus LOL :D Great video buddy!
@LiveFastDiarrhea Thank YOU! I'm so glad you get exactly the point I'm trying to make. It's the twisting of the eco-friendly movement to suit their greedy ass desires for a better bottom line that drives me mad, not just the cases themselves. It's what the cases represent: PURE EVIL, as Dr. Loomis would call it. Muuuuuhahaha, as they rub their cigar smelling hands together. I will lead the charge! Uh...MIB at my door...
the eco cases r stupid if they want to save money and mother earth i would perfer the studios making the cases like the old warner bros. dvd cases which were mostly paper and 30% plastic

dam, not buying any DVDs from you
P.S. I had a tooth pulled today and even vicodin could not relieve the pain (a RARE occurance). Your video was the first thing in 13 hours to divert my attention long enough for the pain to subside for a time. Thank you Dr. Jason. I will schedule another appointment soon.
LMFAO!! No way. I never knew you could peal the art work off. Thank you.
Cardboard DigiPaks are much worse than eco-cases. This type of packaging is known to deteriorate overtime.
I just came across this video. Its hard to believe this is 11 years old and they were doing this crap that long ago. Fortunately boutique labels have taken a lot of control in the physical media world and they know better than to use those crappy eco-cases.

@TheKrazyJason Hey! I have been meaning to replace all of my eco-cases but I don't want to at the moment.
I have been buying solid black cases from casetopia and moving all my blu rays into them
I freaking hate those cases. It kills me that they are so greedy to save what, a quarter on each case? Come on man!
No better rush than buying a movie that's in a eco case and putting it in a real case!
great video, i had no idea the artwork could peel off. i'm a believer now
@TheKrazyJason First off I totally agree about the plastic bottles and food containers, I avoid if possible and recycle if not. Loved the video - and your comedic diatribe :D
I never knew that was just a backing on the bluray blockbuster inserts and you can just peel it off. I have just been mind fucked! So that microfiber cloth will not scratch bluray/dvd discs? Ain't the generic disc labels boring, too?
@@JamesTaylorMain YES!!!
@TheRoswellCrash Same here!!!!
Finally, a review that says why the eco-cases are worse: the holes will tend to allow rubbing if you grip the case too tightly. Also, the cases are not ecologically friendly, due to the Jevons Paradox.

Great video, man!
does it matter what size the cases are, what size standard cases would i need for UK blu ray cases with varied number of disk slots?
I dont belive in eco cases either. Then again I throw trash out my car window on the high way. This rock we love on is dead any way, haha wow I sound like a depressed ass hole. Man I just watch the good the bad and the ugly. How does that blu-ray look. theFLICKpick hi John!

Another rocking video... EXCEPT for one minor detail... I AM all about the candles and chickens... Mostly the chickens.. But hey, to each their own.... HOO-RAH!
Great Vid mate! great and simple way to help your collection grow and look great aswell
Aside from a lack of chickens and midgets, this was a great video. The take-out food container visual was genius.
"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" You're like the dude from Network, except with bluray cases. I wonder if the Network bluray will be in an eco-case....
A 2 disc case for 1 disc? Yup. Jason is crazy indeed
@mslizzyborden That's an awesome compliment! Glad I could help. Doc Krazy is standing by.
Over here in the UK it seems we care little about the environment and more about quality packaging! These flimsy cases have not found their way to our shores yet! England 1 - Mother Earth 0

Anyway, great vid (as always). Keep up the good work!
I Remember when it didn't apply to blu-rays and the shitty packaging applied only to dvds. But of course it had to transfer to blu-rays also.
nice air quote skills, I recently upgraded a few blu rental cases from blockbuster, oh what a glorious day it was!hehehe (my nerdiness knows no boundaries!?!!?)

@FamigliaFaith Thank you! Paper sleeves would suck, but I could live with tri-fold cardboard digipacks.
$45 for a pack of 100.
the econocases suck I do respect the idea but i respect good cases that protect discs.
Never knew that about the artwork on previously owned blu rays that the just peel off. Gotta remember this.
Would this work if you're trying to put the DVD artwork/cover onto this case?
Amaray blu ray cases for the win. Amaray cases are the normal/default cases of Australia - stronger cases with a beveled oval blu ray logo on the front. I can't stand the printed on blu ray logo!
You still collecting blurays?
i got over 300 blu ray's now and i dont know how many are the eco blu ray case but i do know that it's alot for sure ,the only people who make there blu ray cases right is disney and sony and sometime's lion's gate othern then that the rest of the movie company's are just fuckig crazy puting a blu ray in a fucking nut bag of a case so thank u very much for that web site my ass got a nice project to do for my blu ray's too.

the future is NO disk at all
Sad but true
@THEpR1m3vil Thanks! Glad I could give you some good intel.
Yeah fuck buying Blu-rays off you from eBay if you are going to put them in the eco cases.
nice video man! Eco cases really don´t save the world! You´re absolutely right with that! good idea with the digipaks! That would really help! Awesome movies btw!
Sad that movie like "The Good The Bad And The Ugly" is in such a frikken shitty case! T.T
Cool idea of you to make this video! Thumbs up!
LG
This is what I do, too. I make them blue-ray/ dvd packs.
Why does blockbuster put used blurays in DVD cases ???
what is the big deal about the "eco-cases," it saves on plastic. Jason I hope you recycle all that plastic you won't be using.
Cool video thanks for the tutorial.
@ClammehHands Go for it! They just started a 2 for 15.00 deal on the 10.00 titles. Why am I shilling for Blockbuster?
You just blow my mind 💥😮
Almost guarantee the studios have stock in the replacement cases.
Hell yeah, long john silvers. 12:03 cool, I never knew that. I thought you would need to cut them out.
Awesome e go cases
I hate eco cases too, they ruin the artwork cover as well.
I like the old cd music case
One of you guys should lose your mind and burn down the factory that makes eco cases... Shit, get a kickstarter going for it... I'd gladly contribute to that!
kinda makes sense if the disc rubs against plastic behind it it will scratch less than it rubbing against paper.........SNOOGANS
I HATE THEM
I'm all agreeing to everyone who hate eco cases that came in any movies, and destroyed them, and waste of money to replace a new case.
You said that there wasn´t going to be a rant but you kind went into that alittle bit anyway :D
I agree man there is nothing good about them. I always want my artwork straight aswell it bother me as hell if they are crooked. Boner bonus LOL :D
Great video buddy!
4 cases for the material of 3.
next is no packaging at all just download and it will suck
they are too flimsy, we pay like 3 - 20+ bucks or more on this for THIS??? they do this in DVD cases too...
@Br4inDeadDan Lol, the future is gonzo!
@cutedix Godspeed, bargain hunter.
the eco cases r stupid if they want to save money and mother earth i would perfer the studios making the cases like the old warner bros. dvd cases which were mostly paper and 30% plastic
Did this really warrant a 15 minute video? 😂
P.S.: The next step?
Selling the disc ALONE! T.T
Worse no disc empty case with a code
i prefer the eco case
Why?
What if companies have eco-cases so its saves on plastic when you throw them away when you switch the discs to the better case? Just kidding, that's the stupidest idea I've ever heard.
cheap
