- This is just a video of the amazing song that the music box plays in Silent Hill 2 once you place all of the music boxes that you find in the Lakeview Hotel. This song isn't on the OST so I have no clue what the name of it is. Lol, but I do hope that you enjoy this video!

When I hit this spot in the game - I just paused it, sat there and listened to it for about twenty minutes before i got my phone and recorded it onto my phone XD Its now my ringtone and I love it. It catches everyone's attention with its beauty and haunting melody.

I think you can do that with a hand sized box (I have one of my own). It would only have the main melody but it is short and loops so it would sound almost identical

This melody makes me really sad and I always cry for it.
I just recreated it in OpenMPT.
The melody itself is composed to the rythm of 3 beats to the bar at 140 bpm.
You can count it, it goes 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3, one bar for each princess. The music beautifully plays an anthem symbolising the noble quest of princesses in need of saving by their prince.
Right after the Music Box has received Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and The Little Mermaid, all of whom are waiting for their prince, you recieve the key to the room where Mary, his own princess, is also waiting. But what follows is just heartbreaking because you learn James is a prince who is unable to save Mary. Which is why he killed her. As such James feels like a failure as a man, he could not save his woman in need no matter what he tried. He could only do the opposite.
Their life was anything but a fairytale.
No wonder he was suicidal.
Could you live with doing to your loved one what James has done?

Bro - I'm reading this comment in 2024 and I'm beginning to break with sadness, but at the same time I admire the genius of the developers and you, because not everyone could share such a fact!
I'm sure all the kids flocked around those music boxes in the lobby when the hotel was open and alive. The hotel was the creepiest location though it wasn't affected by the darkness. Loved the toilet paper prank they put in there.
That's the most sad song of the game. I don't know why but the melodies that came out from music boxes always make me sad. But this time, knowing the story I feel it for real. I couldn't count how many times I hear it on loop.
I love this song. Its actualy been stuck in my head for the pas week. I realy like the way it sounds. And it does suck how its not on the soundtrack.
I started to turning on this song when I'm go camping in the night,and after that,all of my friends freakout
It was an absolute shame that they left this song out of the OST for Silent Hill 2.

I was Happy when I listen this music in SH.
Imagine how this will sound in the remake. Say what you will about its current state after the recent State of Play but with original composers working on it at least in that department they’ll knock it RIGHT out of the park. And with the over the shoulder camera just imagine how different it’ll hit.
It took me forever to complete this part. I had the paint thinner, but I didn't know what to use it on until one day I went back into the room with the picture with the ink, and then I was like "OHHHHHH!" and finally got the last music box.

Does anyone know how to get the little mermaid box... bcuz I ran into ths hotel and didnt check properly outside for anything and I cant get back outside to retrieve it do I have to start it again or?

@@ribathefox3668 I was at that fountain 3 times and I have never noticed that the box there. I searched the whole building multiple times for the third box, after a hour I became frustrated and I checked it on the internet. It was a big facepalm moment.

Is this a real music box or was it just made up for the game? Tried several Google searches for large music boxes and couldn't find anything even resembling this kind of music box in the game.
Almost certain is was made "for" the game. Basically an original music piece made by the folk who created this game.
