Andy Thanks for a very helpful video presently I only have a Mora hook knife. I know it’s dull but have been unsuccessful on getting a proper edge on it. I will give it another try

Awesome! How do you figure out when it's time to sharpen? And when you're sharpening at a super high level like 7000, can you actually see the burr, or do you just feel it? Thanks!

Sharpen when it stops feeling fun, and strop all the time! You can still see the burr from time to time up at that grit, but like you say, you are more likely to just feel it catch on your finger a little bit. Thanks for watching!

Awesome thanks! Is that a larger hook knife than a "regular" one you might find in a kit? Mine seems to take so much longer to even make a dent but I'm not sure if its the edge or not. It took ages right out of the package

This is a fairly standard size, and I do tend to use a larger hook to rough out the shape. It can often just be a bit of a time consuming process!
