If I was a young boxer I’d be happy to have Floyd train me. Who wants to let down the champ? While he may not be cut out for it, I believe he’ has plenty of smarts and experience to be good at it if he wants to.

Tony Atlas has to be one of the wisest trainers ever. He starts off humbly, thinking about the person before the fighter. He has his own way of explaining things and it's a completely unorthodox way, but true champions don't see the world in an orthodox manner.

It’s a common trend that most great fighters are pretty subpar when it comes to training. The great trainers end up being those subpar, not so talented boxers. Reason being is those subpar fighters tend to look at fundamentals and boxing ability with a higher degree because they don’t rely on their talents as much as the more talented ones did.

to be a great trainer u got to let your ego go. lot of best players and fighters have biggest egos because they were best also their lean to their physical gifts. usually best trainers are not best players and fighters but sportsman's that had to overlap their physical or technical barriers . when a great player, fighter decides to train someone he first need to let his ego go cause it is not about him it is about a fighter who he is training. also u have to be prepared mentally dealing with all kind of characters and usually worst are people that have most talent and gifts because of their big ego witch is necessary to succeed . not so good player, fighter don't have that problem because his ego wasnt so big in a first place. also there is that factor of eloquence and gift of transferring knowledge witch is talent by it self some people have it some don't it is complete different ball game. floyd might have a talent to be a good trainer his family is full of good trainers so there is good chance he has that knowledge but question does he have will to spend wasting his energy and time with young boxers. time will tell. he have good predisposition being technical and smart boxer but his ego might be a problem and just will to do it . we all know he like like being in gym but if u want to learn someone something those gym wars aint the smartest thing u want to put young talent trough.

Floyd is talented but wouldn't say "hyper talented." He's hyper skilled, he learned to do a lot of what he does, and has insane work ethic. It's why he lasted as long as he has. He has taken care of the most people of any boxer since Ali and all that happens with no fanfare. The Mayweather gym is home to many young boxers who can’t afford to be there. The fact that Teddy thinks Mayweather was merely athletic is reason why trainers never broke the Mayweather code. Mayweather worked a system. It was not instinctual. He relied completely on his corner and against he went his own way and nearly lost.

There are different levels of trainers, some are mediocre, some are good, and much fewer are great, based on my observations what differentiates great trainers from your average trainer is their ability to understand human nature and have a philosophy. The rare and great trainers have an insatiable passion and love for the sport, they have the passion and ability to motivate and inspire a young immature person (human being) to believe; that is where it starts, then have the patience, knowledge and wisdom to communicate ideas and practices to get someone to perform on a high level is not easy and requires a different skill sets then a the skill sets of a fighter. My Personal view is that he has the possibilities to be a great trainer because of his strong belief system, the challenge is can he communicate his knowledge and experience to someone else and get them to believe and I assume we are talking about developing champions, and we're also assuming that he wants to a be trainer, I would say that the odds are not in his favor, but he has been able to beat the odds so far, so based on that I think he can be a great trainer.

That’s always been my argument, maybe i heard it from Teddy at some point haha. The guys without all the god gifted talent really have to learn fundamentals and be more organized mentally than the greats who FEEL the sport more and get into that zone easier.

I think Mayweather become great trainer, if he put his ego to side. Mayweather have to make it about his fighter not him self... Stop hate on next generation Fighter pass Widsom next young fighter, if Mayweather don't check his ego at the door it won't work so good luck to Floyd Become A Trainer

Floyd is pulling your leg. He doesn't want to train fighters. He wants to promote boxing. He wants to be the highest paid boxing promoter/ boxer. His goal is to make the most money 💰. Period. Floyd wants to fight and promote and he's willing to tarnish his legacy for a 6 figure payday. But, he realizes he's trying to out chase father time. 🥊😂😂😆

9 figure payday. 100 million or better. Win lose or draw.

Floyd mayweather will not be a great trainer. Floyd is very gifted as a boxer. Floyd has the ability to see what's coming before it has left the station. Floyd was born with a gift and through training and dedication he became the fighter that he is. Floyd was coming into the game ahead of everyone else.

I don't know if you could say Floyd was born with a gift. Floyd did train his entire life. I believe Floyd had world-class training from the time he could walk and a ridiculous work ethic and that his great talent was developed.

Communication is tougher than teaching a skill set or any other art. Ask professors and they will tell you that you need the speaking skill to be a good commentator. You may be the best boxer but a POOR speaker and barely passed English in college. So, I don’t get Teddy’s analogy.

The best athletes dont always make the best coaches. That goes for all sports. Look at other sports, the best coaches weren't the best at their sport. In fact most elite players sucked at coaching lmao

He's talking about Lennox Lewis and Roy Jones. Why would anyone think somebody has been punched in the head for decades would be good at talking? Teddy Atlas can barely put together a coherent sentence and he barely boxed decades ago. Some can, though. Andre Ward is incredible.
