Dr.Kuruvilla,, first off, AWESOME commentary and I'm so glad you pushing this project forward! Could you tell me where to find more info about "these communities" you spoke of that are seen as "too radical" by many Christians? I want to learn more about their interpretations of scripture as a way of checking my own beliefs!
If our faith is based on evidence that can be tested through the nature and consciousness, then we would do well to exercise these to the full potential of our ability, study to show thyself approved unto God.
How is this different from how Bible Colleges used to be? They did all the same things, took a more discipleship perspective, and had all the same fundamentalists standards (at Lancaster Bible College one could not attend a movie theater....that was true even in 2005). But question: On the Sattler College website they say "b) the tendency to marginalize demanding teachings as if they were culturally transient." I wonder...do the women wear head coverings? Do they wash one another's feet as Jesus commanded? Maybe they do, honest question, idk.
Curiosity here... thought this was more of an Anabaptist college? The girl doesn't have her head covered and wearing pants? Maybe she is not part of this college?
Overall a good speach, brother Finny. However, you should be very careful whom to invite to your channel. Now, there is no code how exactly to dress, certainly one how NOT to dress. This lady left to you perfectly represents such.
What's a bit ironic and sad though is.... he's talking about the issue of pornography among men...the serious problem of it.. and yet, this lady that is interviewing him.. How is she dressed? Is this how most ladies dress at this college?
To move from how a women is dressed (in this case, completely covered and appropriate!) to men and pornography is to put the onus of responsibility upon women to control men's lustful thoughts. It is the same kind of thinking that charges women with fault for being raped because of how they are dressed. It's completely fallacious and deeply anti-biblical.
Women in yoga pants! Oh no! Ruuuuuunnnnnnn! lol. Is the Apostle Paul against being fashionable or against parading our opulence around? Having an Iphone is hardly parading one's opulence but maybe she should wear a head covering, dress to the floor (all pants are immodest after all, or at lest they use to be considered so), and use a flip phone?
