Ofc he'll be rewarded via lucrative deals to Ecotricty and a Peerage, He's giving green credibility to the Labour Manifesto - Watch this space.
100% agree, it was the same conclusion I was coming to the more I thought and listened, because we do know hes talking absolute bullcrap regarding labour
"The greenest government ever" doesn't have to be very green at all. It's a very low bar.
Greener than any other party that could win
What the hell does green mean?
@@nathanwitwerShorthand for environmentally sustainable.
@@flannel2699 Most "green tech" is essentially nothing to do actual green issues nor is it sustainable. Its just "lower impact" in some key respects if not all, and a way to eek resources out for longer.
However this really has to go along with actual green and sustainable practice which tech and energy is constantly overshadowing and confusing the issue around.
Because industrialists and asset capitalist are the only ones with the wealth to pay for genuine green and sustainable initiatives, which would entail a huge amount of wages for a vast amount of labour, and they don't want to pay for the huge cost of what's required, they want to continue living to vast excess maintaining their claims on all primary resources and energy required.
@@leifcian4288 Thanks.. but I was just giving NathanW the definition of broadly what is meant by ‘green’ re: “The greenest government ever” quote by the OP. I understand the term is a bit fluffy, context sensitive and often abused.
Just another industrialist. Never trust a capitalist.
Exactly this.
Dale Vince, greenwashing for the Labour Party.

Hilarious how he isn't backing the Greens obviously just wants to back a winner instead of standing on Principles & Conviction.
what would be the fucking point of backing a party that can not win under our electoral system? especially when the issue is so urgent. backing a party that has the ability to win and a party that has shown an interest in implementing some positive environmental policies doesn't appear to be an abandonment of his principles. the man has donated to the labour party for the past decade or so... he isn't just backing labour because it looks like they will win.

"i would rather give those projects to great British energy"
Oh my god even HE thinks it's actually an energy company. Heaven forfend.

British energy will invest public money in projects, so exactly the point he was making.
Nowhere did he suggest it would be an energy company - it may be a producer, it won’t be a supplier.
Seems like you don’t understand
What is it, really..? Initially I thought/hoped it was nervous-flag-waving-voter friendly branding for publicly owned electricity production but it’s all a bit vague. Perhaps intentionally so..
@@flannel2699 it will be a state owned company that invests in green energy production, so it will get involved in projects like new technology, expanding renewable energy schemes etc.
It won’t be an energy supplier, so consumers won’t be able to buy directly from them, but it will sell energy into the wholesale market.
This guy makes no sense, if we're trying to get the Tories out we need to back Labour in Labour v Tory seats. We don't need to back Labour in Labour v Green seats. If anything is splitting the votes is what he's suggesting.

“green aviation” and against heat pumps? WTF?!?!
Mr Dale is full of it regarding labour. Big oil doesnt donate to Labour to be Green!
We are all voting Green in Norwich.❎❎❎❎❎❎❎
Big oil doesn’t donate to labour
He says 'heat pumps are not the answer' but doesn't back it up with anything. 2/3ds of norwegian homes are heated with ASHPs! And they're a massive oil producing state - much colder than ours too!
Maybe he’s getting GBE investment commitments for his GrassGas ?
He totally lost me at that. Even replacing gas boilers with electric versions (not heat pumps) and focusing on zero carbon energy generation expansion in the form of wind, tidal and geothermal would be a far faster route to reducing GGEs.
All the technology exists right now to stop using combustion as a heat source and this Grass gas is just a vanity project by someone hoping to corner a market with his new buddies, the Labour Party.
His response to targeting Bristol and Brighton was incoherent
Electric isn't green green ... He seems to be wanting celebrity rather than greener future for all 😮
"Heat pumps are not the answer, gas made from grass is" 😬 not sure about that mate😂
Yeah that was the point of realization for me too 😂
Peerage incoming.
Harness the untapped power of the greatest renewable resource in Britain: impotent rage.
Dale Vince has sadly sold his soul to Starmer's Labour Party, paul mason style
He is a business man above all 😅
I smell bullshit.
On the Restore Nature Now, march, I was at the back. As I approached Parliament Square, I heard Dale Vince speaking, and what he said was so confused in terms of addressing the climate and ecological crisis, that I despaired. He was talking about his electric plane project, claiming eventually it will eventually be able to fly long distances, with "no" pollution. What are these electric planes going to be made out of, rocking horse shit? I did write a lot more, but I've scratched it, because Dale Vince is not the enemy. However, nor is he a credible commentator on the climate and ecological crisis. I will give a couple of figures, that put things into context. Less than 18% of the global population, own a car, and over 80% have never flown at all, or in a given year. Those that fly regularly, are a few percent of the global population. Dale Vince, said you can't ask people to do without these things. Yet the vast majority of the global population, already do without these things, and the system is groaning under the strain of that extravagance now., and we're heading towards collapse. When he says you can't expect people to do without, he's talking about a tiny proportion of the global demographic, he's part of. We need to live within our ecological means. There is no sustainable, mass flying option.
Some false arguments there.
The world is led by the most advanced economies and they all need planes.
@@RobinHarris-nf4yv By the same token, can you not argue that the world is being destroyed by the most advanced economies with jets being a small part of the destruction mix..?
@@RobinHarris-nf4yv - Sorry, but those are false arguments, which demonstrate a lack of understanding of the climate and ecological emergency. As Professor Kevin Anderson, a leading climate scientist points out, there are no radically unaltered futures. What he means by this, is things are going to radically change, whether people like it or not. The surest way to the most unpleasant and adverse change, is trying to carry on with business as usual. It will quite literally, result in the collapse of our civilization. Nor are we talking about far off in the future. We're only one stop away from global food shortages, which in the current free market system, would produce food hyperinflation, cause massive social unrest, and could lead to civilization collapse. Remember, the UK is facing greatly reduced agricultural yields this year, due to the wettest 18 months on record, a consequence of climate change. There are similarly reduced agricultural yields, due to extreme weather in different parts of the world. All it will take, is in a given year, for there to be a number of these extreme weather events and runs, in a given year, to create global food shortages, which will totally disrupt our system. I can't use all the references for this, because I had my CZcams account suspended once, for using scientific references. But be assured, I can support everything I say, with impeccable scientific references, along with the likes of the UN Secretary General, Sir David King, the former UK Government, Chief Scientific Adviser, the WMO and far more. None of the points I made are false, but your arguments are. It is not what people want, it is what is possible, and what will happen. All you need to not see this, is to be in denial or not acknowledging the scientific evidence.
@@RobinHarris-nf4yv To drop the bombs perhaps?
he's just a businessman, simple as. that why he say "you can't expect people to do without"...because he wants to sell them the 'alternative'.

@@RobinHarris-nf4yv I'm not OP but one example would be heat pumps: in what way is gas from grass presumably then being fed into a gas boiler more efficient than heat pumps?
Because his electoral math is completely off point. There's no need to maximise the labour vote in this election at the cost of the green party. Arguing that Labour winning in those seats would be more conducive to a transformative left wing government doesn't work when the current Labour Party has shown that their policy will be anything but transformative
@@carlettienne2596 I have to laugh when leftists use the term “transformative”

What happened to global warming?????
Its happening everywhere that nobody looks, its quantum you see, it knows when nobody is observing it, so, in the middle of the night there are huge heat waves and forest fires and the sea rises five miles, then, when the sun rises everything appears ordinary and calm and shitty overcast sand cold again ... they will invent some bs like this and give it a posh bs name, like 'warming beyond the quantum horizon', which they will then later rename as something orwellian or euphemistic or something, 'subliminal warming', I donno, maybe we should run a competition for the most rediculous phrase ... which some think tank working-from-home executive will adopt, and repeat at two conferences per year to justify his mega wage to pretentious twits ...

Greenest government we've ever had but they are not half as green as the Green Party would be and not half as green as they fucking should be...
Hmmmmmmm - he lost me totally at the bit where he’s campaigning against the greens in the 2 seats they could genuinely win.
He's been lied to and believed it. Mug. Or he knows it's lies and goes along anyway
Yeah, what a let down.
Why doesn't he think heat pumps work?
People's massive bills with heat pumps show this ... only an idiot (sorry) would get one ... its obviously easier to heat air inside the house as its warmer than the air outside to start with ... clearly, it takes more energy to gheat cold air than it does to heat tepid air ...
In physics, this is known as 'the conservation of energy malarky', which, is, you cant create energy out of nowhere. ...
But, it doesnt take 'thienth' to know that heat pumps are nonsense, just human experience of heating ... when its cold, you dont eff around with cold air from outside ... you keep the tepid air inside, and heat it ... obviously ...
the scam artists want folks to have good insulation, then ignore insulation by heating cold air from outside ...
To make money out of the stupid tech ...
To make money out of your lecy bill ...
Surprise surprise, the same shareholding portfoio entities own shares in the new tech companies, and oil, and elecy companies, and, all the big corporations pretty much
The 'green' tech is grey isnt it, and the grey men are making billlions from their new scam
Real green typically looks green, like plants and trees ... they are free ... 'green' councils are not encouraging such things ... no new allotments, no new community farms ... just new nonsense grey tech ... insane posh spending that feeds the new mega-rich scam
Because they're competition to his business interests
@@DaProHobbit They might be ... he might be dodgy ...
But ihe could be right and dogy ...
heat pumps ... heat the cold air and pump it in ... defies (a) commom experience, and (b) physics ... utterly ... its a mockery ... insulate your house, then heat the cold air from outside, using loads of electrickery, then pump it in using more electrickery ... heating tepid air that's in the house to a warmer temp is obviously easier and less energy ... try heating frozen soup ... then try heating room temperature soup ... durr ... massive scam ...
Scam for the manufacturers (probably owned by the mega rich), scam for the installers (the chosen new, even more corrupt middle class) ... scam for the electrickery companies (owned by the mega rich) ...
The same mega rich that own big oil, the oiligarchs, they are the oligarchs that own the corporations that will profit from the new stuff. Whether it works or not, they dont give a damn
Very weak argument from Dale on the green MPs. Ex hippy that is now yuppy. Classic.
His rationalisations about backing Labour in Bristol and Brighton make no sense. Maybe as the owner of a private green energy company, he doesn't want Green MPs advocating for investment in community owned renewables projects. He also keeps saying that 'wind and sun need no public money,' so he's not expecting investment in Ecotricity from GB Energy. But renewables ARE generally still heavily dependent on public subsidy, because they're low margin - Aaron was discussing this recently with Brett Christophers on Downstream. Oh, and Ecotricity's biogas from grass plan is an ecological disaster.
Rock on Dale ❤

Dale Vince's perspective deserves to be credited on his arguments, which are valid arguments, about avoiding ways in which the right wing press can demonise the green agenda. It’s a very low bar..
If the election looked close I might understand his campaigning in the Green seats but it feels like an unnecessary own goal for green interests to do that when a large Labour majority is extremely likely. I do agree with him that the coming Labour government will likely be the greenest government we’ve ever had though (politically they had to cancel the headline 28 billion figure as the Tories were attacking them so strongly on it but the policies and plans behind it are still mostly there) and I’m a pretty optimistic about Starmer’s Labour.
