Yes, there were several road under construction at the time. Some of the projects completed by Obasanjo when El Rufai was the minister while some inherited by Yaradua and then Goodluck Jonathan. The projects were not abandoned by Goodluck Jonathan. If Goodluck Jonathan had re-elected in 2015, the roads and Abuja rail would've been extended to all the district of Abuja.
It was when Buhari took over in 2015 that most of the projects were abandoned despite accumulating so much debt by APC government.
The Buhari campaign group used the same road to campaign in 2019 and yet wasn't completed until at the end of his tenure that the contractors went on the site to start bit by bit. It was Wike that forced the contractors to complete what you're seeing today which I commended him for.

When it's done elsewhere, then poor people are starving abi??
Roads are the lifeline to buoyant economies!!
They can NEVER be described as wasteful!
Goods ( including foodstuffs) services and people need to be able to get to their markets, offices or places of business in the best possible manner and at the best possible time!
Alongside electricity, roads are probably the best possible infrastructure for overall development!
There is no government anywhere in the world that can spoon feed the majority of its population, no matter how wealthy the country is!
Even in advanced countries, the government can only use the collective efforts of its citizens (via taxation) to periodically help (minimally)support the jobless few!
In this regard, what the Nigerian government can do, is to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive!
It is businesses that creates the most jobs opportunities.
Building good roads can create private sector opportunities like transportation for instance!
Transportation can become a viable business because buses and taxis can ferry people back and forth in good time on good roads,to their destinations without damages to their vehicles!
I repeat building roads ( and railway lines) can never be wasting resources!

Omo Wike deserves the treatment he's getting from Tinubu. Only those who were in Rivers State during the 2023 elections would understand. When LP was clearing all the polling units, it still baffles me how he turned around everything and Tinubu was announced winner. Little wonder he's been rewarded with a fat budget for projects. The man deserves it. Previous FCT ministers always experienced budget constraints but Tinubu is making sure that doesn't happen under Wike. The president knows he's (Wike) worth. Kudos

      YOU ARE 100% RIGHT!
Ten years ago, l would have disagreed with you.
Nigeria and Africa are QUIETLY and SLOWLY developing and catching up! Unfortunately MANY Africans are not paying attention.
I PAY A LOT OF ATTENTION!
Everytime, l take a look at many cities all across Africa, I see GROWTH, which l never saw 20 years ago. Now, things are changing VERY VERY FAST!
There is a RENAISSANCE sweeping across Africa, which many people are not seeing.
I wonder, how Africa would look like in the next decade.
If Wike can continue like this, and hand over to somebody who is competent...Abuja would develop and continue to be a beautiful city.
All the government has to do is stick to the masterplan, and Abuja would soon be a world class city.
