Black Ops took what World at War had started and made it into so much more. Continuing the storyline from where Der Riese left off and slowly unveiling secrets that the community had been guessing at the whole time. BO1 was the first to release with two Zombies maps at launch and has some of the most iconic DLC that followed shortly thereafter. This game will forever be in my favorites list and it's impossible to ignore its impact on Zombies, Call of Duty, and gaming as a whole.

I also was at the mid night release for black ops at the mall! It was a party there! We could play the game and Zombies and they even had snacks! I was in high school it was the best game ever!

I’ll never forget completing the campaign and then seeing the Five opening cutscene afterwards. That was amazing
Glad you’re going back & learning the lore. This era of gaming was simple & mysterious, which is sometimes all you need for entertainment. Back when people were excited about games & the community physically got together, interacting & learning this together. Never forget! 😂
I was in 4th grade when this game came out, and it was my first COD. I remember playing zombies at my friends house because his parents bought him all the DLC. We would get so scared! The ambience was so creepy and mysterious. It made you feel all alone and helpless. we would get nightmares and stay awake all night in case zombies came to his house 😂 simpler times… (also does anyone else remember all the commercials they did to promote this game? Like the one with all the clerks and employees shooting at each other in urban environments lol)

I was in high school when Black Ops came out, and a nor’easter hit my small island town, flooding it & shutting everything down for a few days. My buddy down the road had the game & I waded my bike through shin-high water over to play it (after stacking sandbags around his house & lifting everything off the floor). We did campaign on regular for the story, vet for the challenge & easy for collectibles, EEs & achievements. Then some multiplayer, although I preferred wager matches over standard multiplayer. But man, the zombies!!! That swept us away. Kino was definitely the new Der Riese (which we believed to be the best map at the time and to this day arguably top 5 or top 3). 5 was a tough but fun map. Nova crawlers, teleporters, radios, symbols, scraps of paper; all continuing the guesswork & conspiracy theories retold by random players online. Definitely a welcomed evolution in the zombies lore.
People that aren’t from the North East probably don’t know what a nor’easter is 😂 my grandma told stories about that one! She lived in New Hampshire back then. Cool story though.
World at War. end credits seeing the first zombie map, Nacht. Wicked awesome.
Moon and Nuketown Zombies at the same time too, but that one is more bluntly obvious as you hear Moon quotes being broadcasted on the green house TV throughout the match
21:59 the child toys surly indicate the presence of Samantha. She was interested in the Gersh device as it would help her to manipulate and teleport others to where she wants like she did to Yuri.
Zombies lore is so wild, I love it. From inter-dimensional beings trying to escape their prison to a bunch of time travel bs, it gets weird and exciting very early on. :)
Der Reese's Pieces and Ascension were OG GOAT maps. Miss the bois. Miss those simpler times

I played through all these maps as they came out, finding the lore with friends. It's great to get a refresher so many years later lol.
Glad you enjoyed it! Midnight releases are one of the biggest losses the gaming industry has seen. They made launch day so much more special than it is now.
@@ThatWasAwesomeYT I'm thinking if there's a CHANCE to have one again.... it could be for the next Grand Theft Auto due out next year. Other than that I don't see anything else on the gaming horizon that could cause enough hype to warrant a true midnight release at stores.

The reasoning behind Samantha always finding the ultimus crew was actually explained. Samantha and Richthofen were connected, when he touched the M.P.D.

Bo1 was easily my favorite era of zombies and cod in general, didn't know just how great it was until the good times passed and they started losing the plot..
The lunar lander is outside the ally by double tap on a roof and the blacked out portrait is dr gersh
Fun Fact : I didnt know that the starting screen for Kino was Nact Verrcuk and Shi no noma and der Reese (IM CRAP AT SPELLINGS) all in the same screen

18:35 Here, Samantha only started the attacks when she knew that Ultimis time-travelled to 1963. She was only targeting group 935 members as Maxis ordered her when he offed himself.
Oooh, good point! That would explain her fixation on Ultimis and essentially ignoring the others until she needed them.
what if the portait on the wall of kino were for zombie to recognize the crew ? or maybe for samantha ( so she dosn’t forget after 20 years how they look ) could be intersting since maxis and richto say that « image work greatly on their subconscious » so image of the people the zombie should kill, maybe that the thing giving zombie the ability to track you everywhere at the seconds!
The other deads people/corpse / blood , could be the 935 scientist or worker ( since they would have acces to a large field of professional ), it would be awesome bo zombie canon without breaking the canon a dream , but a beatiful one
Black ops 1 wa my favorite cod I feel like everything was perfect for a cod like the music was really good and the hud was perfect for all the modes and maps easily some of the best 😌
The people I met on bo1 were fun to play with but sadly I haven’t seen those people since late 2013😔

Always hated how they made Maxis’s voice the same as Kravchenko’s. I know it’s the same actor but they should’ve caught that before release
