On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Phoenix AZ on 9-2-21.
We're looking at a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Injected in Red Paint. The car comes with the factory Fuel Injected 327 CI V8 engine, and a 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Jim Sheehan. Jim’s had this car since 2021. He shares he was reading a car sales magazine and noticed this restored fuel injected car. After several friendly calls he was on an airplane on the same day of his wedding anniversary and purchased this one. Seem like Jimmy’s wedding day is a good day on the calendar for him. As you can see, this one looks like it came from the Dealership Showroom.

Beautiful Corvette ! 1965... Fuelie.... Stick... Sidepipes... Knock Offs.... Teak Wheel... First year of disc brakes as standard equipment ... This one has it all ! Thanks Lou !
Hi Rudy, Happy to read "This one has it all !" :-) You're welcome, Lou
"This is a brand new car". My thoughts exactly. Beautiful restoration on a real drivers car. Nice video guys. Thanks!
Hi Bruce H., Happy to take you back to the showroom in 1965 with this one :-) You're welcome, Lou
The car that comes to mind when I hear Little Red Corvette. 😀
:-)
Nothing compares to the sound of a Corvette with sidepipes... Nothing! Music to my ears!
Music just the way we like it :-)
Beautiful car! My favorite vette from 1965 came with a 396ci/425hp. 🙂
Imagine the feeling of driving such a beast back then. No one could touch ya
Hi Cali, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car, and which one is your favorite engine too, Lou
Beautiful, thank you for sharing. 1965 was the last year for the mechanical fuel injection option in Corvette. Only 771 L84 375hp models were produced at an option price tag of $538.
My buddy found a highly optioned '65 FI more than thirty years ago which he restored and has been judged top flight. My son is being tutored on rebuilding these FI units which is becoming a dying art.
Hi Skinner Hound, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome. Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Buddy's car :-) Your Son might have a very profitable skill there. Well done! Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Nothing as beautiful as the desert......especially when driven thru in a Corvette.
Nice :-)
The ‘65 fuelie is one of the greatest sports cars of all time. Period.
High praise :-)
I have read that Zora Duntov said the 65 was his favorite. What a beautiful C2. Thanks Lou!
Hi Tom, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. You're welcome, Lou
The owner is correct. After laboring to have a successful business, it's great that he treated himself to this epic car!

That is one SWEET 65 Fuelie!!!! Being a C2 junkie lol. I purchased a restored 1967 Corvette L79 Coupe last month. It has all the original paperwork from the original owner. And I LOVE this car!!! Thanks for posting another C2 Corvette vid. I really enjoyed it!
Hi Brenda S., Happy to read you enjoy this "SWEET" car :-) Congratulations on your 1967 Corvette! My pleasure sharing this one with you. You're welcome, Lou
Nice C2 Corvette. My favorite era of the Chevrolet muscle car.
Happy to read this one fits in your favorite era of Chevrolet muscle cars :-)
NOTHING LIKE A MID YEAR WITH SIDE EXHAUST . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
:-)
An absolute Classic!! Someone already mention about checking all the boxes, and this Vette sure does. Thanks Lou & Jim for a great desert presentation for this cold, snowy Saturday morning.
Hi Rusty, Happy to bring some warmth to the snowy Saturday morning with this ride :-) Lou
Thanx Lou! HEYYYYYYY Abbott!!! The 60s was THE BEST time for music and cars!
You're welcome Mr. BLACKHAWK
Beautiful Corvette Lou. Red is the right color on the mid 60's Vettes
Happy to read you enjoy this looks of this one The Bearded Guy Jeff Lawless :-)
A Corvette to make to second guess the 63 split window as the best ever made. Great video Lou. Thhans for sharing!
Hi Dan, Happy to read this one makes you 2nd guess a 1963 split window :-) You're welcome, Lou
On the front of the cylinder head
Look for the two humps that’s a fuelie
Just over a 2 inch intake valve. NICE RIDE
Thanks Lou
Hi Chris, Thank you for sharing a tip. You're welcome, Lou
Well Lou , you really made my day . Here I am in the cold midwest and you feature a very hot 65 Corvette in the beautiful Arizona desert. Thank you so much. Now I must go turn the temperature down in the house .
Hi Michael, Happy to read "you really made my day" :-) Glad to warm you up with this one. You're welcome, Lou
Speechless this one it never ends

My week to do Brother in law had this in the rag top same colors 4 on the floor. He took me for a ride then I drove it and he kept telling me to push it harder ( I was scared Chitless ) It was a handful, scary and fun at the same time. The only negative was the Constant FUEL Smell. He opened the fuel cap in the back and you can see the entire gas perfectly in it’s tank like a Fish Tank without fish and just sloshing around. I thought omg it’s a Bomb and I drove it like an idiot LOL. I almost forgot about that I was 27 when I drove it. Back in 1989
Hi gene978, Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Live his whole collection of vettes that I've seen so far
Hi Larry, Happy to read you enjoy the cars Jimmy shares with us :-) Lou
WOW what fun, thank you Jimmy and Lou. Happy Anniversary to the Sheehan's
Hi Chris, Happy to read you had fun :-) You're welcome, Lou
I'm not a Corvette guy, but I see why so many are. The 65-67 dash is the best gauge set ever. Great show!
Hi Unkill Big Bad, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Thank you for the kind words on this show, Lou
Another fine example of GM engineering. This 1965 Corvette fuel injected 327 is a beautiful example of performance and speed. Those yellow wall tires really set it off, with it's red paint job. The engine sounds very healthy with a perfect rumble. I always liked this generation of the Corvette with it's boat tail rear end. What a sweetheart!
Hi Michael, Happy to read you enjoy this "sweetheart!" :-) Lou
Wow !!! "Third time out of the garage. " What a treat.
Thanks Lou !.
Way back in '65, i'm 8 and go for a bike ride with some friends to a Chevy dealer nearby.
Car i was blown away by was a new Corvette Stingray, not only by how great it looked but by the price...like $5700. Astronomical amount of money to me.
At dinner that night, i asked my Dad, how can a car cost so much? He didn't really have an answer.
Hi Glen, Happy to receive a "Wow !!!" from you :-) Glad to read this one brings back memories too, Lou
Such a beautiful Fuelie Corvette Sting Ray from the year of my birth and that's great that he found the car in Trussville, Alabama, not too far from where I reside, Roll Tide!!! What's not to love about a red Corvette? The C2 was such a cool design as a coupe or a convertible, I'd be happy with either that's for sure!!! The ride along was fantastic, the scenery, the raucous symphony from the factory side exhaust, no words, simply awesome!!! Another great Saturday ride!!!!
Hi Hobiemarty, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Nice that you and this car have the same birth year too. Glad you're along for the ride on this one, Lou
My first time seeing a Fuelie Corvette in action! Another great one featured by Lou!
Hi Michael, Happy to share this one "in action!" with you :-) Here is one more for you, Lou czcams.com/video/InLaKuGOoGo/video.html
I love the Stingray, I have it as a Hot Wheels car. This reminds me of the Wheeler Dealers restoration of the Corvette Stingray C3 Cabriolet
Happ to read you "love the Stingray" :-)
Lou youre killing me on this freezing cold East Coast January day posting this beautiful ride in the warm desert.
Wonderful video
Rick, I'm doing my best to warm your insides with this HOT car. Watching this video I hope is like being in the freezing cold East Coast and putting on warm socks, underwear, and T Shirt right from the dryer :-) Toasty.....NICE! Lou
Gorgeous Stingray and a Fuelie to boot!!
Hi Thomas, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
I was friends with Dob Dobbins of the Corvette world in the mid 70's and he had a red 65 Fuelie with white interior and pipes, pretty car there Lou. I drove to Dob's in a 64 Daytona blue/silver interior 365hp with that factory thumper cam.
Hi Hans, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friends car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Vettes have consistently been one of the most beautiful classic designed cars since the first '53 rolled off the assembly line 🤔
Hi Terry M, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the looks & design of the Corvette. Interesting you said...."since the first '53 rolled off the assembly line". Stay tuned :-) Lou
These were the ultimate Gentlemen's Hotrods.
Those first-year black guages resemble those of my long gone Opel Gt of which attempted copying the Corvettes.
A set of radial yellowalls would make a cool under-the-radar restomod.
Experienced Corvette buyers always opted for the highest horsepower Smallblocks, simply because the Bigblock's heavier weight used to detriment handling, until the aluminum-blocked 427 ZL1 made its appearance, later on
Hi Al Dente, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Hope you see many more cars on this CZcams Channel you enjoy. Lou
Great car.....l realize the 63 split windows are cool but I think the NON split window looks SO much better and I'm sure much better to see out of.....great video Lou.
Hi Mike, Happy to read you enjoy this "Great car" :-) Appreciate the kind words on this video, Lou
What a car and a nice view Lou. Impeccable shape
Hi Keith, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
Like a going back in time I have a C7 there's so much difference the C2s and C3s in my opinion they are the cream of the crop that's a beautiful car
Hi Phillip, Happy to read you have a fun Corvette too. Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car, Lou
Nothing quite like a Fuelie Corvette!!
Thank you for viewing & sharing Thomas :-)
¡Simplemente espectacular! Saludos cordiales!
Hi Jaime, High praise :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing. You're welcome, Lou
What a gorgeous vette love that fuelly
Nice :-)
Back to the basics, a true classic muscle car. Of course it had to be red for his Corvette USA theme, but an off color would have added something, a bit extra. This is top 5 for your channel. Thanks Jim, for sharing!
Hi Pat, High praise "Top 5" status. Thank you, and you're welcome, Lou
This L84 fuelie engine was a $550 Option back then, specific output and lower weight over front end made this unprecedented in the corners for the time

Legendary drive-train in a sweet Vette ! Very nice !
Happy to read you enjoy this "sweet Vette !" :-)
Jim Morrison used to take his mustang out in the desert and God only knows where he went but the desert makes a beautiful drive
Hi Bruce, I can see why Jim Morrison would enjoy the drive :-) Lou
Fantastic! A fuelie with a 4-spd and racing fuel. My compliments and thanks to Mrs. Sheehan for allowing Jim to leave on their anniversary to pick up her car!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
Another great video Lou. Reminds me of my Uncle's 61 Corvette it was a factory fuel injection car also. But was an old race car when he got it. The fuel injection motor was long gone when he got it.
Hi PlymouthDuster225, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Definitely Corvette Candy surely rare find. Lucky guy of course hard work brings luck. Great story as always. Keep them coming

Hi Newton, Happy to read you really enjoyed this one :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
INCREDIBLE, and IMPECCABLE! One of my TRUE Favorites. Built many models just like this one Lou! Always loved all the details too.
Hi gene978, High praise. Happy to read you built models like this one :-) Lou
Had one just like it in the early 70's.....except no side pipes. Sweet fuel injecton, 4-speed and those great faux mag wheel hubcaps that GM did so well in those days. Kinda wished I never got rid of that Monogram 1/8th scale model......
Hi Michael, Model of this one is fun too :-) Lou
@@loucostabile Lou, she sure is, a real beauty! Appreciative of the work you do in documenting these great cars for us!
Great Corvette Lou, keep up the good work
Happy to read you enjoy this "Great" car Dan :-)
Great video. My dad had a 65 with factory air which I know was rare. He used to buy and sell back in the 70's. Just couldn't keep them all.

Incredible car. Nice anniversary gift.
Hi Paul M, Happy to read you enjoy this "Incredible car" :-) Lou
Wow Lou, if this isn't the coolest car all time its on a very short list.Knock off wheels, yellow line tires & fuel injected!Sensory overload.
Hi Richard, High praise :-) Lou
In my opinion this is the best looking body of any Corvette ever made. Cars built today look like they are all stamped from the same cookie cutter.
Hi Brian, Happy to read you enjoy the body style of the C2 Corvette :-) I like them too, Lou
Beautiful and the sound of that side exhaust 😁
Happy to read you enjoy the looks & sounds of this car :-)
Man, that 65 street machine is a literal time machine! And I know it's a two-seater but with that sound and those views I felt like I was riding along too! Thank you 😎👍👍
Hi benzlick, Happy to take you back to 1965 :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
When all the hoopla about fake 67 L71s subsides, the 65 fuel cars will have their day $$$$$ wise. The high price of this engine killed it. Beautiful Lou. 300 miles? Drive it dude. Life is short. I live in the snow and cold and can only drive my Corvette in spring and summer.
Hi George, Happy to share the ride in this one with you :-) Lou
This is a really nice 1965 Corvette with Rochester Mechanical Fuel Injection. This was the top of the line engine option, so there are not many Corvettes equipped with this engine option. I also noticed from the video that the owner is burning racing gasoline in this car. This does not surprise me. The gasoline of today is very different from the gasoline that was sold in 1965. This car was designed to run on the leaded premium gasoline that was sold in the 1960s. This old gasoline did not have ethanol added to it and had a higher octane rating than todays gasoline because of the tetraethyl lead additive. This must pose difficulties for those who own classic vehicles that had high power output engines that required leaded premium gasoline. These cars can be modified with lower compression heads that have hardened valve seats to burn todays unleaded gasoline. However there is a reduction in power when this is done. If the classic car is being used as a regular daily driver these modifications at least enable the car to run on todays gasoline without having to buy much more expensive racing gasoline.
Hi David, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Good looking Vette!!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Vette :-)
No doubt, the gray haired fellers have by far the coolest cars.
Usually, they have the $ for the toys :-)
Hi, Lou! A great anniversary gift for the two of us...I mean the two of you!" LOL! I'd say you have to be a good sport if you're married to a real "Corvette-eran" like Jim! This is a "fuelie" after all! Dare we ask how she felt about you getting a ride in her anniversary present before she did? As for the vertical radio dial, many AMC cars of the late '60s and early '70s had one too. I would have guessed the miles shown on the odometer are since the restoration because I can tell the odometer is not original. It looks to me like it was taken out of a '90s GM car.
I'm sure Prince would have been delighted to see this Little Red Corvette. Thanks for taking us along on this "cold" day in Arizona!
Hi iswc27, An anniversary present that will be cherished for a long time :-) My pleasure sharing the ride in this car. You're welcome, Lou
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, what a beauty and RARE, since he just bought it he must have paid plenty!!!!! Thats pure class
Hey Lou why do you have it listed as White in your description???

my kind of car thanx lou!

Thanks again Lou! It's funny, you mentioned the Yellow stripe tires. The owner said GOLD, and my eyes literally watched the stripes change from yellow to gold. And then back to yellow! Now I don't what color they really look like. But worse, I'm considering psychotherapy after learning that you have power over my mind!
Lou, this area is magnificent. Where is it?

Hi Robert, Hope you're behind the wheel soon, Lou
One of my favorite dream cars. I've always wondered how a Corvette rides. What did you think of the ride Lou? Good video, I enjoyed it!
Hi Gary, Happy to read this one is a "Dream car" for you :-) Ride was GREAT! Lou
@@loucostabile Thanks!
Lou: Once again you've hit a home run. This is a very rare and unique '65 Corvette. The sound from the 327 C.I V8 with 375 H.P @6500 rpm is just epic, Love it love it. Last year for fuel injection and first year for four wheel disc brakes and with a 4 speed manual makes it that much nicer. And to top it off Roman red with a black interior, it doesn't get any better than that. Pure💯🇺🇸. Have a gr8 God bless day Lou and owner.
My grandpa had a silver 327 stingray. Too bad he sold it back in the 70's
He traded his 289 mustang for the vette. Had to sell the vette because he started having kids.

A friend of my mother had a 66' with a 350 in it back in the 70s. He let me drive. It felt like was sitting on the floor, it rode real hard and hit bumps with a bang. He supposedly had his restored, auto, trans. I wasn't really impressed with it, as it didn't seem that fast. Felt like a base grocery getter 350. I had a 69' 383 Roadrunner at the time, I could tell mine was much faster. I think he just wanted a corvette and was not a performance guy at all since he showed know interest in my Road Runner at the time. I bet he just got a 350 out of a chevy station wagon or something and said put this in. It looked good but I bet it was a budget restore. How does this one ride and take the bumps.
Hi Nicky, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friend of your Mothers car :-) This one rides great. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Nicky the corvette did not get the 350 engine until the 1969.
@@chrisjeffries2322 I know. The engine was put in. Not factory.

Hi SuperJoe70, On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Phoenix AZ on 9-2-21.
You're welcome, and I'm in Scottsdale when I can get there based on schedule.
This one’s sick because the ‘67 C2 L71 427ci/435hp 4 speed coupe was hardly any faster in straight line speed as this; maybe .2 to 60 slower and .4-.6 slower in quarter mile no difference in top speed though.
Hi Daniel, Happy to read you enjoy this one, and thanks for sharing your knowledge, Lou
Best engine, 4 wheel disc brakes.
