    🌟 About this video
    Today is some perfume empties, It's always interesting to see which fragrances people finish and even more interesting is what people think afterwards, do they want to repurchase immediately or do they want to move onto a new fragrance? I find the perfumes that I use up every last drop of tend to be the ones that I wear to bed as I use them more regularly than the ones I wear during the day, so most of those here in this fragrance empties video are those!
    Here are the 9 perfume bottles that I've emptied over the last 6 months.
    Have you finished any fragrances recently? Which perfumes would you repurchase? Which discontinued perfumes do you love?

    Hi Claire😊just a little side note in regards to your Narciso Rodriguez Poudre and thinking it was empty. The perfume is encased in a foil Mylar type bag inside the bottle. Probably to protect it from color inside bottle. Found this out a few years ago when my EDT bottle fell on tiled bathroom floor and broke thinking I just lost 100mls of my brand new bottle. 😢Was able to glue pieces of glass back on and continue to use it. Great video. Have a nice day 😊

      Thank you ❤️ Wow 😲 That was lucky! You know what?! You've quelled my curiosity, I was considering trying to break it open to see what was going on. The glass for those cubes is so thick and heavy! I bet the foil really keeps the fragrance well because it cuts out light. 🤔 Thanks for watching 🥰

    Claire, I’m jealous. How did you manage to finish so many bottles? What’s your secret? I don’t think I’ve finished a single bottle in 2024.😅

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Před měsícem +10

      I think I finish quite a few because I mostly buy secondhand so often the bottles I have aren't full in the first place, also a few of these were tiny (5-8ml) or I'd had them a long time. I find I tend to finish off the ones that I wear to bed as I wear them night after night rather than switching around like I do for the day time, although I always carry some fragrance in my handbag and I respray at lunchtime if it's something that fades. ☺️ I have about 120 bottles, I want to reduce that, but it's not going so well. I have a few that I never seem to reach for, yet when I smell them, I really enjoy them! 🤷‍♀️

    • @lukeparfums
      @lukeparfums Před měsícem +2

      @@dr.claire.perfume That makes a lot of sense, thanks for explaining. 120 is still quite manageable if you ask me. My philosophy about using up fragrances has changed recently. I won’t force myself to use something up just because I want to use it up. If I love something, I want to have it in my collection for as long as possible.

    • @lukeparfums
      @lukeparfums Před měsícem +2

      I’m also not big on decluttering, but I think it’s about time I decluttered a few… I went through my entire collection yesterday and there were about 5-10 that I think I wouldn’t miss.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Před měsícem +2

      @@lukeparfums yep, I think the same, I've realised that a few can go even though I'm not big on decluttering. And yes, if I love something, I will just buy another bottle! I am happy to have things linger. I wore Alien Mirage today and that is long, long discontinued and near impossible to find now, I'm in no rush for that to be gone, it's lovely 😍

    So impressive to see how many you have used up! 💕 also impressive you have the willpower to use up retired fragrances that you can’t replace, I tend to ration those unless I have a backup. 😂
    I used to LOVE that Marc Jacobs gardenia one! I remember after that retired, they released Mod Noir (another gardenia), which was good too.
    I also love Chloe Nomad, but made the mistake of blind buying the Absolu since the reviews are so great. It does smell good, but something in it gives me a migraine. The original doesn’t give me a headache at all. I have a full bottle of absolu in a box of stuff to donate.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Před 29 dny +2

      Well I think after a while with fragrances I just want to move on, even if I've enjoyed them. Usually by the time I'm through a bottle I am done and want to try something else 😂 there are a few special ones that I will be sad to see go though. I haven't tried Mod Noir, but I've seen the bottles! They are very striking!
      That's a pain that Absolu gives you a headache. I get the same thing with Elie Saab le parfum sometimes. I rarely wear it unless it's absolutely freezing outside out of fear. 😂 I will try before I buy with Absolu. Thanks and have a lovely week 🥰

      If you live in the US I would be willing to purchase your bottle of Nomad absolute. Plz let me know if you would be willing to do that. I have 3 kids and my girls are still pretty young so I only buy fragrances when they are on clearance or I am able to get it for a heavily reduced price. Usually I go to Mercari but I got a fake the last time I got one off of there and I couldn't do anything about it. Anyhow my apologies for rambling but if you would be willing to sell it plz let me know.

    Lost in Translation was such a wonderfully nuanced film. Never noticed the Marc Jacobs perfume. Good eye, Claire! I love watery white florals. Once I empty a fragrance, I usually don’t repurchase, with the exception of a couple one being Herba Fresca by Guerlain and Gucci Rush. Next, I need to repurchase my beloved Annick Goutal frag, Chevrefeuille (honeysuckle, I probably misspelled the French word for it 😂).

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Před měsícem +2

      It's got hardly any dialogue, it's very visual and absorbing. It's very cleverly plotted and atmospheric. You get their sense of loneliness, isolation and feeling completely lost. I really do love it. I watched it at the cinema when I was at uni and I thought it was an amazing debut for Scarlett Johansson who was what? 17 at the time!
      Herba Fresca is lovely, I would love a few of the Aqua Allegoria range! And I love the smell of honeysuckle 👌 and I learnt a new French word today, thank you! 🥰

    Hi Claire! You're so diligent in finishing your now discontinued fragrances, I hold on to mine and ration them out but I can see that it means I don't get to enjoy them as much as I would like to!
    I absolutely love Narciso Poudree, it's such an elegant but cosy scent. Have you ever ever tried the original Narciso EDP in the white cube? Sadly now discontinued. It's a really stunning mostly gardenia with a bit of white rose with the signature NR musk on a cedar base, it's very clean, musky, creamy and sharp without any sweetness, and I find the deep dry down to be very like an expensive lotion. It is absolutely gorgeous. The opening of Poudree is somewhat similar with the white florals, but to me, Poudree is like the lovechild of white cube Narciso EDP and Dior Hypnotic Poison, particularly HP in the dry down. White cube Narciso is also the perfume that my favourite character in a book wears, I felt compelled to try it because of this!
    If you shine a bright torch on the back of the Narciso bottle and face the bottle towards you, you can see how much perfume is left in the bottle :)
    Did you end up trying Narciso Rouge? I really love that one too, it's a bit of an irisy, rose, makeuppy, dusty, sweet, cosy musk. It isn't really that "perfumey", I feel like someone could just smell it and think it's just your natural scent (if you were extremely lucky)!
    I'd be interested to try Chloe Nomade, it sounds so interesting. I have Nomade Naturelle which is a sticky sweet jasmine/date combo, lovely for warmer weather.
    The Body Shop Vanilla was my signature scent at University. I have an old bottle and although I never wear it anymore, I can't bring myself to declutter it because it's so nostalgic and brings back so many memories.
    I do occasionally see The Body Shop perfume oils cropping up in Vinted for reasonable prices if you ever go on Vinted :)

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Před 19 dny

      I think I did try Narciso EDP in store a few years ago, but I don't really remember it other than it being less sweet than Poudrée. I have a little sample of Rouge. 😊
      I think Nomade Naturelle sounds lovely, I would love to try that, I can't get enough of dates in food. They are mmm!
      I think I'm done with Body Shop now. The nostalgia was good but I don't think I want an oil that might have been on someone else's skin, hence why I went for the spray. It's a shame about Body Shop, I both can't believe (because they are iconic) and can believe (because they totally changed their ethos and pricing) that they've gone under.

    Poudre is definitely one that I relate to you. It was a pleasant one. I can get the wanting to move on from our old ones. U think we're gonna get a "summer" 🤣 wishful thinking Claire.
    Your subscribers are lovely. Perfume isn't the sort of smelly package I'd get through my letter box 😅. Yes grape is a rare flavour here isn't it. I think I'd sniffed this one and didn't love it if it's what Im thinking of. Yea Azarro isn't a big brand here in the UK is it.
    Yes that long named one is rather nice. I think I'm a fan of lily. Yessss Terracotta is a very lovely one.
    Yes Nomad is good and wow you do love it. Soft tender furry peach skin 🍑 ey 😂. Yea makes sense to want a slightly different version.
    Adp are a brand I randomly enjoy. They do classic well.
    Ah yes that is an older bottle, I remember trying that one I don't think it was the MJ for me. It wasn't the worst tho. The bottle 😬. Yes our tastes do change maybe too much.
    Ah Cinema is a pleasant one, not bad at all. Was just for me on me subjectively a tad dull. I'm not a huge vanilla fan.
    I love how you hunted this down from a special film for u. Them days were good and yes very much a style of them times. I'm also much rustier than I was 20yrs ago 😂.
    Yes a shame with the bodyshop but as we know extreme greed and asset stripping in thst very British way leads to failure.
    Great video as every. Always enjoy these from you

      Lol, I'm sure some people send you fragrances 😉 and I know there are a hard core of subs sending to you in reality.
      Nomad got a bit soapy on me towards the end, I noticed it more and more but it was the perfect vibe for work, so I did run through it pretty quickly.
      ADP we need to have a sniff session with, my friend loves some of the citrus ones and I want to try them all. 😊 That Colonia just wasn't me... I felt like the bloke in Roman Holiday, in the 50s in Italy in summer in a suit with a transatlantic accent.
      Yeah that MJ had a tonne of cashmeran and ambroxan, I can't imagine you loving it 😂 I didn't towards the end sometimes. The cashmeran seemed to get stronger...
      I liked Cinema, it was more interesting than many vanillas I smell these days...
      We need to watch Lost in Translation together, we need to find a dvd player 😂
      The body shop got way too expensive didn't it? It priced itself out of the market and it lost its fun feeling. It was never going to be Lush but it just lost what it had. Such a shame! Thanks for watching, I know you love my empties videos of all sorts 😂

      Mercedes Club Black is loved and I get it 😂 it's one of those friendly gourmand vanillas isnt it? That's why Herod is so popular too, they're just not for me because of the aromachemicals I think, it's the same with Architect's club, really not bad at all though and I have similar fragrances to it which is why I decluttered it. I bet it would smell nicer on someone else, I generally like things in the air that I'm not so sure of closer up. Thanks for watching 🥰

    And oh boy, I bought the Lalique Amethyst Eclat when I very first started collecting..initially I liked it, but as I evolved I came to detest the berry musk. Too much for my liking.
    I blind bought a fb of Chloe Nomade and I still love it! Although it’s one I’ve never received a compliment while wearing, lol. It’s very no nonsense, but also a perfect choice for work, etc. I’m no where near emptying the large bottle, but I did just empty the smaller one that came with it.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Před 23 dny +1

      That's a difficult and interesting one! I can't say I love most mass appealing fragrances, they are usually chock full of ambroxan (like Sauvage) or iso e super, and that puts me off wearing them. Most of what I love with designer isn't universally likeable I don't think 🤔
      I guess if this took my taste out of it, Valentino Donna Born in Roma is probably the most mass appealing (although I don't enjoy it). Personally, I would probably choose Narciso Rodriguez Musc Noir Rose (I enjoy that). That had a moment on TikTok too so I feel reassured that that choice is mass appealing. Other popular fragrances with more controversy in general are things like Coco Mademoiselle (I think most people would choose the Intense version of the two, as would I, I love that one), but many people have some general dislike of the Chanel DNA, so I'm not sure this would count. LVEB is mass appealing, but still some people hate it, I feel indifferent really, I don't hate it. Same with YSL Libre. I hope this answers the question 😂
      My own everyday choice at the moment is Alluring Fig by Theodoros Kalotinis. I've worn that a lot of this week because I've been working crazy hours and I've not had time to spend choosing. It's a green fig leaf vanilla.
      I'm not sure if you mean to restrict me to bestsellers or not so I'm not sure if my answer has covered it. Amongst my fragrance addict friends, Gris Dior stands out as being universally loved and also l'Orchestre parfums Bouquet Encore, Dusita Pavillion D'or, Maison Violet Poupre d'autome. Wouldn't it be helpful if companies listed on the bottle how much just the bottle itself weighs, and then list the weight of the total amount of perfume brand new. Then we'd be able to WEIGH fragrances to see how much is left and what percentage that constitutes. That'd be so helpful when buying/selling fragrances in opaque bottles.
    OR
    We could all start to weigh our bottles, and keep track of how much the bottle weighs after each spray session until it's empty?

      I know I'm weird Julija but when I've bought opaque bottles secondhand, I've actually looked for empty bottle weights so I can work out how much is in the bottle by asking sellers to weigh what they are selling, it's a great way of checking volume. They are in the minority, but sadly some people do lie. One person said something was nearly full when they sold me it and when I got it, it was nearly empty, so I'm wary.
