  • Muravera Citrus Festival 2023: the 49th edition of the Muravera "Citrus Festival" will take place in the bridge that goes from 21 to 25 April 2023, we are in Sarrabus, along the south-east coast of Sardinia. The event is decidedly important, think that in the pre-Covid years, up to 30,000 visitors a year took part!
More simply known as "Sa Festa", the Muravera Citrus Festival is a great spring festival, which inaugurates the tourist season in southeastern Sardinia. In fact, I would like to remind you that the beautiful beach of Costa Rei also falls within the Muravera area, ranked fifth among the most beautiful in the world by Lonely Planet magazine.
The culminating element of the festival is the great parade of traccas on Sunday, for an entire weekend of celebration which includes tastings of citrus fruits and local products, but also shows, concerts, music, traditional dances, conferences, thematic exhibitions, museums, visits to citrus groves , and so much more.
This year then, taking advantage of the long weekend of 25 April (the "Festa della Liberazione"), the festival will be particularly long and interesting, with many events. In fact, we will have 5 days: 21, 22, 23, 25 and 25 April 2023.
    Muravera Citrus Fruits:
The event, as the name suggests, is dedicated to one of the excellences of the area, the citrus fruits and oranges of Muravera, famous throughout the island and beyond. Every year thousands of visitors take this opportunity to enjoy the first spring sun in this paradisiacal corner of Sardinia.
    What are Muravera's traccas?
The most awaited moment of the whole Muravera festival will once again be the great parade on Sunday (May 23, 2023) in which many folk groups from all over the island participate, knights, amazons and above all is traccas (or etnotraccas or trakkas).
But what are the traccas? Widespread throughout the Campidano, these are wagons that reproduce moments of daily life in the peasant world, from work in the fields to ancient crafts. In Muravera the traccas are a real institution and the most beautiful are awarded the title of "Maist'e traccas".
