Fantastic!! I was lucky to witness Truls Mork in Dvorak's Celloconcert, directed by the father of Paavo Jarvi, with the Residentie Orkest. Also a superb performance. Really a great musician!!
Should these two musicians appear at Orchestra Hall in MN with either our former or new conductor, I’ll be hiding in the “outback” weeping, a weakness understandable and forgivable in us elderly. Long ago, my husband and I were taken by a student (seventh grade English, violinist, now PhD in English and teaching graduate students) and her music-loving parents to hear this incredible cellist with his highest accomplished accompanist, Kathryn Stott, perform an inspiring, moving recital in St. Paul, MN. Apologies if I save my Heavenly bouquet for the three Jarvi conductors to share, Hilary Hahn fashion, following Maestro Paavo Jarvi’s and her Brahms. Please never remove that sweet scene from the video. Love this Schumann! 🎉
I reaally love his playing all the way.Truls mork is one of my favourite after gabetta....but damm....Du Pre played this concert as no one on earth...her tempos were just amazing... This concert sounds so...misterious and catching;mackes me feel so ...I dont know..search for jacky Du pre's version...it worths!!!!
Rubbish! Some people naturally sweat more than others. It doesn't mean he's not trying or playing with feeling just because he isn't sweating enough. In my view he is among the best cellists around today. I prefer his playing over that of Yo-Yo Ma. Isserlis is also very good. Mork is technically extremely gifted.
Not sure what you mean by 'Good, in a Nordic sort of way'. If you were being funny then maybe the humour's abit too dry for me. Sorry. I do have a sense of humour, just not the same type as yours, obviously.

Hello everybody: there is no Best Cellist! Truls comes close to having the best left hand technique though - very precise.
He's the best living cellist, in my opinion!

there is no such thing as 'technically extremely gifted' - his technic is 50 years of practice. (he started when he was seven)
Competent in a Nordic sort of way. Doesn't even break sweat; you can tell a great cellist by the amount they sweat! ;-)
you should watch the rostropovich version of this, the truls mork interpretation seems boring compared to it!
Rostro is nothing compared to Truls at the Cello :)
