I would take and eat those foods even about to expire or expired because its free and I need it to save money and I am Thankful for that blessings.
Now that I found a stable job, I don't rely to those free foods anymore and I can buy my clothes too
So I believe someone won't go there if not badly needed for survival

Hello. you mean like student housing apartment? As far as I know only students allowed to these apartments but if you know someone who is a student and is renting a family apartment, maybe you can ask them to share room with you even if you are holding a working visa.

We all "need" food. My point is, that the free food is meant only for the poor.
E.g. my retired father is reasonably well-off. Still he (and my mom) has several freezers full of discounted (red-labelled) food. Luckily in their town there's no church or humanitarian organisation giving out food for free. If there were, he might join the queue just as well.
