    I heard of this hike from a few people i met on the camino primitivo and I realy want to go there! But the new law having to walk with an official guide killed this for me!!! Such a pitty!

    • @WanderwithXander
      @WanderwithXander  Před rokem

      Yess, such a shame! But from what I heard, there is no real implamantation yet. So might not be a problem after all.. I would also not guaranty it holding, might be cancelled in the near future. No one knows!

    Did you had spikes with you for the snow? Or was only partly a bit snowy and easy going with hiking boots?

    • @WanderwithXander
      @WanderwithXander  Před rokem +1

      No! I used spikes for the last two/three days for sure. Depends on the season and the snowfall but this april they will be needed for sure! I just came back from the EBC + Gokyo and we had a lot of snowfall

    I’m interested in hiking the ACT.. and I was wondering about looking or not for a guide / porters (especially because I’ll be part (leader) of a group of 8/10 people.
    I can find many tour operator online that offer an all inclusive service… but they look costly!
    Is there any chance to find much cheaper option locally right before starting the trek?

    • @WanderwithXander
      @WanderwithXander  Před rokem +1

      Yes of course! Walking from your taxi to your hotel in Thamel you will find at least 5 people offering their porter-service haha. No worries! Probably much cheaper and a bigger chunk goes to the actual porter :)

    • @WanderwithXander
      @WanderwithXander  Před rokem

      In principe niet! Heel soms in het hoogseizoen wel, maar niet als je dan op tijd aankomt. Anders is er altijd wel plek! Zorg wel dat je bij "High Camp" er enigszins optijd bent :)

    If there’s all these hikers carrying a bunch of cash are robberies a concern?

    • @WanderwithXander
      @WanderwithXander  Před rokem +2

      Not to my knowledge. Of course, be smart. But everyone is dependant of the tourisme. So if you're robbing, you ruining tourism. Also its relatively remote so easy to catch them and a lot of checkpoints I guess! So no need to worry :)

    Quite good an effort. Maybe you should have gone a bit more to the past and where the CIRCUIT part in the name really comes from: originally the circuit went from Pokhara to Pokhara making a circle and took about a month. Nayapull is not really the original end, as there was no road there even in mid eighties yet, route went to Dhampus Phedi or even Pokhara. Ghorepani - Ghandruk - Landruk - Tolka etc to Pokhara is (was) really a nice and impressive part of the circuit.

      @@WanderwithXander Besides the eighties we (wife & I) hiked Besisahr to Nayapul (mistake, I know...) in 2006, took 17 days including one sick day between Tatopani and Ghorepani. In 2009 we hiked Manaslu Circuit (attempt, too much snow) - Nar-Pho - Tilicho crossing to Marpha, jeep to Tatopani, Ghorepani - Sanctuary - Landruk - Dhampus Phedi. You'll find that video also at the same chanel, it 2 parts. Walked the Ghyaru - Ngawal high trail already in 1986. Still many groups (ignorant, or lazy guide) miss that, worth stressing the point like you did.

    • @WanderwithXander
      @WanderwithXander  Před rokem

      Thats really impressive! So awesome!! Yes such a shame to miss that part, its very beautiful. Thanks for your feedback! Im already looking forward to the Three Passes in two weeks :)

      @@WanderwithXander Do them counterclockwise, more interesting villages to acclimate properly, monasteries also. Passes are also easier, faster and safer east to west. You need to choose If you want to go up via Tengboche (culture) or Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche (awesome views high across the valley, lots of wildlife, practically no trekkers). Several top agencies have started using the Phortse high route on the way up recently (when doing EBC only), but Nepalese guides do not seem to be even aware of it. Been there 5 times since 1985, about 5 months total.

    • @WanderwithXander

      Great advice!! We are planning counter clockwise indeed, but this is also important new info!

      Which has not been implemented so far.. But if you want to hike without, you might be extra sure to plan the EBC trekking
