    Thank you Daniel. Very much like you, Non-photo related includes learning new songs on the guitar, cooking new meals, cleaning the house etc... Photo related, started a CZcams channel, practicing 3 light set ups, etc.... I'm in the UK and my wife is stranded in New Zealand, so catching up with her on video chat as well.

      Yikes! I'm sorry you are so distant from her, but great that technology allows you to stay in contact

    Exposure Value is something people should use more often. I shoot minor hockey for my child’s team. Every arena has different lighting. Some glass is thicker. Some blue tint, done almost pink. There are puck marks and scratches etc and then the reflection from the ice. First time I went into the local arena all my images were dark even though the camera gave me what it thought was a good exposure. Scratched my head. Did some research. Answer: EV.
    Next time I went in, I opened up the EV by +1.7. Fools the camera’s metering. Then the lens.. it’s a 70-300 with variable aperture. Can’t use aperture priority. Zoom out I lose light. Can’t change shutter speed. Has to be 1/focal length. 1/320 So the only two options are boosting ISO at 300mm from 3200 to 6400 and changing the EV back to +1.3. Because of 2 stops lost.
    Video same thing. Shutter speed down to 1/50 for 24fps. Too much light. f:/4.5. ( variable to 6.3). So I can only drop ISO and the EV stays at +1.3.
    People keep talking about the exposure triangle. But incorporating EV with it in different situations gives a bit more flexibility and added option.
    * New subscriber so I have quite a bit to see on your channel.

    For my video and audio I'm using what I already have - an X-T3 and an on camera shotgun mic (Diety D3) going into an Elgato Cam link 4k into my computer. But the Mevo looks cool if I had to be mobile.

    Thanks, Daniel. (Enjoyed the "gang" stream earlier today too.) I'm in on the "cup/one light" challenge. Stay safe!

    You're a photographer who plays guitar. I also follow Peter Coulson. He plays guitar. I'm a guitar player who takes photographs. I've learned a lot from you guys. Thanks.

    Mevo has a massive issue. It only streams back to the companies own server, and then back out to CZcams and the like. When used In a multicamera setup, the Mevo vision ends up about 5 seconds delayed from the rest of the local cameras, due to that round trip to their server.
    Personally, I'm wary of any streaming system that forces a use of the manufacturers servers, such as the Bolt and LiveU, both for the privacy/security limitations, along with the forced contract locking users to the service if you want the hardware to function.
    Sony Mirrorless used to be locked to a similar server, but can be altered in settings to stream 720 to a local PC running vMix or OBS.
    When doing multicamera streams from sporting event and the like, IP based camera for fixed locations are a very economical option, as are HDMI-to-IP convertors (can recommend the FMUser FBE200, just for the quality of their after sales service, shout out to Kevin on the FMUserForum) that take the HDMI output of a camcorder, DSLR or Mirrorless, convert it to a RTSP stream, which then gets mixed in vMix or OBS.
    VMix eats OBS for breakfast... 😉
    Tips for doing live streams.... NewTek's Spark HX are shite! Bin them. And, RTSP over UDP on your own network, has just as low latency as NDI, but will drop frames instead of buffering the way RTSP over TCP does.

      yeah, I would certainly not lean towards the Mevo for a full Multicam set-up. - The things you are complaining about have nothing to do at all with what I am talking about - a single Mevo streaming to youtube.

    Thanks, Daniel, great video as always. Looking forward to the next one. If someone would like to get their feet wet in live stream but has enough gear (Z6/7, wireless mics, etc) and planned to do it in a setting like your office, what computer (Mac) interface devices are available and what is your recommendation? Thanks!

    In your list of equipment I see you have the Elgato Cam Link. Seth mentioned it too. Does the Cam Link have to interface with software on your computer? If so what do you use and can you demo the setup process? Thank you for helping us stay somewhat sane.

      @DanielNortonPhotographer  Před 4 lety

      The camlink itself doesn’t need any software it basically just turns whatever you plug into it into a input or a “WebCam“ - I’ll do a video on it soon

    Hey Dan, I'm trying to figure out a way to help my mom continue teaching her senior citizens aerobic class through a streaming service, and most of them are not tech savvy. Which service would you recommend that is simple to set up to stream to, and also for viewers to connect and watch? Quality isn't big issue, just ease of access on both sides.

    • @DanielNortonPhotographer
      @DanielNortonPhotographer  Před 4 lety

      It’s pretty straightforward to stream to CZcams and you don’t need an account to watch the videos so that would probably be my first choice

  • @sandy_lone

    Yep that's cool, thanks.
    When you do the live streams at Adorama with multiple cameras, what do you use to switch between the cameras?
    Cheers, S
