In a entire series about hunting monsters, killing vile beasts, facing off against demons and dragons and vampires and trolls, who ever thought a one on one sword duel between two old superhuman geezers would be one of the best?
Isn't that also the base game final boss fight premise as well?
Olgierd and Detlaff are the best boss fights in the game. Far superior than the ones against the Wild Hunt's commanders.
there's just something satisfying about two expert swordsmen in their own fighting styles dueling against each other.

Geralt is in his 90s true but Olgierd is in late 40s to early 50s. The pact with Gaunther made him unkillable but not eternally youthful.
But, yes, duel between Geralt vs Olgierd (and Geralt vs Detlaff) is awesome. CDPR listened to fans' complaint that fight with Breacc Glas is disappointing.
Olgeirds' tough but once you figure out his pattern and you're good at countering, the fight is actually pretty easy.

ChrisMorray I believe his fighting style is somewhat based on Polish saber cross-cutting, which looks so stylish and sleek

when he drew that sword and i heard the music building up i knew something was up. i was like this cant be a normal fight. and damn was i right as soon as the fight began he fucking teleported and almost killed me in 1 hit
Those particular lines are a reference to the duel from The Deluge - one of cinema's greatest sword duels.

@@yoshikagekira5880 If your playing a Northern Realms deck, my advice: Always try to to win the 1st round if you can do so reasonably. 2nd round if you cannot finish it there, then try to wear down the enemy for the 3rd round. And 3rd round no matter what deck your using, go all in. Have TONS of effect cards.
If Nilfgaard/Black ones, always go for tie.
If monster, fill up your deck with high power beaters and a little support. Edit: theirs also an effect that causes monsters to swarm the field. I'd look up that if your interested.
I also recommend Decoy, its an incredible card. If your opponent uses a spy card, you can then use it by taking it and playing it. If you play a medic and have a large graveyard, play decoy to refund the medic and then play the medic again to add another guy to the board or save it for next round.
If you have a medic in your hand and one in the grave, play the medic in your hand, then rez the one in the grave to rez another creature. And if you got more in there, keep chain rezing your medics if you can.
Commanders horn is almost a win button, if your enemy passed and you got one. Ruin their day by doubling your biggest lanes attack.
And then theirs the effect that adds offense for each one of itself on the board. They even add if reduced by a weather effect. Meaning if its still reduced to 1, they will go down to 2, 3, and so on.
But mind that Legendary units resist all effects, including positive ones like Commander's Horn, Medic, Decoy, etc. But also ignore weather and scorch.
And never go all out at first, only set up for combo's later in the round because 1 scorch can ruin an entire plan. Bait it own with weaker plans first, THEN hit them with your commander horned triple catapults!
And finally, weather seems simple, but can be just as powerful as commander's horn if used right, even outright countering it! (but watch out for clear day, because if you don't have a backup, clear day might ruin yours. Best option is either wait for them to pass, or bait it out by using other weather effects and then playing the one you want.)

It's a style used in the steppes (Early Magyars, Mongols, Turks, later Cossaks). It is made that way as a handle for the enemy who might carry his head by griping it, instead of puting his hand to the heads mouth. In a sense it is the mark of a warrior greeting a warriors death. Cossaks had many symbols giving a message like this.

@@butcherofblaviken7262 with a good Alchemy build it's actually really easy to steamroll the endgame content, currently i crit for like 10k every fast attack.
@@Michas333 Pff, Quen alone is enough for the highest difficulty in witcher. Just dont get hit and deal dmg, thats all. Actually i think the normal enemies are harder to read, then the bosses
