The theme was inspired by a Mexican Festival called DIA DE LOS MUERTOS or THE DAY OF THE DEAD, muli silang mabubuhay ulit sa pagkamatay nila noong 2017. Last 2018 time na para bawiin ng NU yung crown and they called it DIA DE LOS PERROS or THE DAY THE OF DOGS.

Dia de los perros po ang ginamit nilang term kase nga po Bulldogs ang tawag sa kanila kaya perros ang ginamit kase sa dogs po yung dia de los perros.

We have similarities in some of our cultures. And both the Philippines and Mexico formed such great trading bond and friendship that started hundreds of years ago through the Manila Galleon trades. 😉❤
I'm a UP alum pero I must admit that this is my most favorite cheerdance routine from any of the UAAP-member schools since I started watching cheerdance competitions in 2004. I have lost count as to how many times I have watched this video and I still have goosebumps every time I watch this routine and it's already 2022. The choreography, costume, and music mix are the best from any cheerdance routines that I have seen from any local school/university/college bar none. Grabe! Vamos, National U!

For my opinion eto yung ranking ng mga routine nila :
1. 2019 (The Philippines) - undeniably best performance
2. 2017 (The Siren) - much complex and extreme difficulty from other routines
3. 2015 (Caveman) - hard routines with complex body position and 3 sets of 1-1-1 to Fountain of Troy (cheer part)
4. 2018 (Coco Theme) - perfect routine with no deduction
5. 2016 (Cyborg) - underscored routine and best tumbling passes
6. 2014 (South America) - introduction of Fountan of Troy
7. 2013 (Arabian) - beginning of their championship era
8. 2012 (Disney) - first podium entry
9. 2011 (Matador) - NU improving better than before

The so called "Sarimanok" was a Philippine Tribute theme. As coach Ghicka said, in one of her tv interview, why not go back to our country naman daw cause they've been to Arabia, South America (Native American theme not Pocahontas. Just so happen na may connection sa Pocahontas movie), and Mexico. The whole 2019 routine revolves sa 3 main islands and Phlippine flag symbolisms. Even their costume was inspired by the 3 main islands.
On the other hand, the "Dia De los Perros" was part of their yell kasi before the music starts. The 2018 theme was "Day of the Dead" or "Dia De los Muertos" and not "Coco", as may others thought of. The latter was used only as a song in their last pyramid entitled, "La Bikina" and Miguel's whistle was also used as an effect in their last tosses. Many expected on a "Coco" themed team that season and got disappointed for not having Coco's songs daw, but actually yung cheer mixes nila were from the movies Coco and The Book of Life, both of which depicted "Dia De los Muertos" and the characters were almost the same in features.
NU is the standard periodt.
For me ito pa rin ang pinaka the best ng NU. Sobrang linis in all aspects, dance, tosses, tumbling, pyramids to stunts. Still the best

I agree, though for me, hindi gaano kalinis yung tosses nila dito especially the last tosses. But still, every tosses were well-highlighted din kasi eh kaya ang ganda tignan.

Siempre me emocionan las competencias de animadoras pero esta, estando en casa, me hizo sentir que estaba ahí y me enchino la piel, jamás se compararán con nadie. Felicidades
NU Pep Squad ang kumpleto recados sa stunts, skills, choreography, cheering part, drum lines, crowd support at music. Among local cheering squads, sila lang ang nakikita ko sa social media na may international followers.
Pride of the philippines...nothing more to say this was the best per. In the history the best sa choreo,sa costumes stunts lahat d best... Kilabot kayo hands down...standing ob.

This is the cleanest and fastest routine ever of NU pep squad aside from 2013 Arabian THEME.. But 2016 Performance still a GOOSEBUMPS not only in ASIA but in the UNIVERSE.

Agree with the Coach that their performance in CDC 2019 is 10x better and harder than 2018. Kudos NU! Mabuhay National!
Nag downgrade kasi sila ng taon na yan, then nag level up sila uli noong 2019 introducing "gainer mount". Sana hindi canceled yung cdc this year

What an amazing performance!!! I am so impressed. I just found out about this performance from a comment on my daughter and her husband's (UsTheDuo) song NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE from the movie The Book Of Life. I didn't think that we had such a group back then when I was studying at National University in '73. Anyway, I am a fan now of this amazing and great team. Hope to see another winning performance. Sa daming beses ko nang napanuod to, hindi na sa routine ako tumitingin kundi sa crowd..and to my surprise a lot of familiar faces was present...my gosh I can't😆❤️.
1st is yung mga naka black shirts sa harapan..it's actually Joyme Cagande, Audi Paran, Chavez, Princess Robles, and si Margo Mutshima.
Then sa tabi ni Mutshima was the cutest Lady bullpups na Lady Bulldogs na ngayon.. That was Maaya, Nisperos(ADMU), Solomon, Larozza(DLSU), Pangilinan, Lamina, Toring, Ordiales(DLSU), Alinsug, Jamili(FEU), Maderazo, Belen, Doromal(ADMU) Cal(UP) and Nierva.
Ang babata pa nila dito my gosh, and now they're making names for their selves na😌❣️
2021 and still continue and always watching this, NU PEP SQUAD is the best🧡
