- Graham Coxon emerged from the 1990s Britpop movement as one of the U.K.'s most acclaimed and distinctive modern guitarists. Through his hit-filled career with Blur and a highly renowned solo career, his sonic paintbrush of choice is most often a Telecaster guitar, and Fender now honors him with the European-only release of the signature Graham Coxon Telecaster guitar.
Coxon is well known as one of modern rock's most avid aficionados of the Telecaster-"The first guitar I reach for," he said, and "One of the guitars I used to draw when I was at school and dream of having."
Now he has one with his own name on it. The Graham Coxon Telecaster has a distinctive combination of a Blonde finish ash body, tortoiseshell pickguard, vintage-style single-coil Telecaster bridge pickup and Seymour Duncan® '59 SH-1 humbucking neck pickup with a black bezel for tone ranging from clear and sharp to warm and round. Other features include a C-shaped maple neck with gloss urethane finish, rosewood fingerboard with 9.5" radius and 21 medium jumbo frets, three-position switch with "top hat" tip, knurled chrome knobs on 375k volume and tone pots that contribute to brighter sound from both pickups, vintage-style Telecaster bridge with three threaded steel saddles, chrome hardware, vintage-style tuners, '70s-style headstock decal and Coxon's signature on the back of the headstock.

Graham Coxon discusses his signature Telecaster® | Fender
/ fender - Hudba
I love Graham Coxon as a guitarist. He is so damn humble, but my goodness what a player he is. What is more he is totally unselfish. I have seen exerpts on CZcams where he shows how to play certain riffs, and where he even guides others showing them how to get the sound. Brilliant! That is what I call a musician! Graham like all great guitarists, realises that he has to hand down his gift to upcoming guitar artists to enable and inspire the next generation to achieve his genius and/or even better it. The man too is not up his own ass! Not at all. There is absolutely no bravado or godliness about him. Totally straight forward approachable bloke, a human being who anyone can hold a converstion with. This is his real charm, and I love it!!
Well said!
He's very modest about his skill as a guitarist. He's a fantastic guitarist from complex little intricate parts right through to experimental.
Untouchable and far to underrrated!
@@madsrasmus agreed. Folks might be able to top his skill so to speak in certain ways of course... Like with any guitarist. But to perfectly replicate him? Lol impossible.
I love blur, they're my favourite heavy metal band
Blur is not heavy metal band. It's britpop.
Ondřej Bechyně no they're heavy metal.
Tobasse Gaming If you think they're heavy metal you have probably only heard one or two of their songs. They are an alternative rock/ brit pop band.
Bubbajjsammer5 no haven't u heard their death core deathmetal songs like Girls and Boys and Parklife, where Damon shrieks and Graham Coxon performs some killer shredding bruh
Tobasse Gaming I love their death core song No Distance Left To Run
Graham Coxon: Underrated riff monster
Bruh boneheads riffs are so much better
Hugely underrated guitarist, he is fucking amazing live and on record.
Bruh he only plays power chords he is overrated
@@thefakengx3839 only plays power chords? You Clearly haven’t seen or listened to one single blur album. Moron.
@@thefakengx3839 your favorite player is probably slash stfu
@@sonomanz8791 No distance left to run has no solo notes in it. Just power chords apparently lololol.
@@thefakengx3839listen to Chemical world by Blur
By far my favorite player from the 90's.
It's like someone mixed George Harrison's melodic almost lyrical playing with his humbleness and then threw in a dash of Hendrix craziness or something haha.
Graham Coxon is a great player. This is a poorly put together promotion. The excerpts to black and white with his guitar playing muted are ridiculous.
yes its shit
Eric Davis bruh he only plays power chords what the big deal about him bonehead is a better guitarist
Have you listened to blur? Can you play??! He's a brilliant musician
Cee Bee lmao he’s a fucking good guitarist I know I’m just takin the piss yea I play man I’m sloppy tho 😭😭
@@thefakengx3839 [sarcastic warning]
My fave guitar player of all time . After Johnny Marr.
Exactly the same as me dude
@@Osc1llateW1ldly no or he woulda said them
Great guitar player but certainly not my favorite Noel Jonny and Jerry are on top 3s
@@rizvanxd8724 Noel?..good songwriter..but cant really rate him as guitarist..
@@isaactorres5908 yea I know but he’s pretty decent for his genre which is indie we don’t really want Steve vai on oasis do we ? I’m sure not
Such an underrated guitarist! He knew how to make every sound perfect based on the song.
I'm on a Blur jag at the moment and Graham's great and I adore Tele's.
About time this GREAT man got a signature tele!
Love his work in Blur, love his solo material!
You and me both graham. Tele always. There is so much people don't realise was the Tele. My go to guitar for writing, recording and playing
Bring this one back in production damn it!
Graham Coxon, One Of My Greats! Such A Talented Guitarist of his kind!
He still advances with his guitar playing and that is why I love his work. He can go from indie pop to folk to electronic with ease and still sound very good and interesting.
brilliant how enthusiastic he looks when the he "plays" in this video. Thumbs up for that!
I was 5 years old when I discovered the tele I dreamed about it for years finally got one on my 16th birthday it was a Mexican standard now ive got a 52 hot rod reissue still love telecasters
Such a unique and accomplished musician 😊
damn it Graham, he is still wearing the same kind of t shirt he wore during the 90s!
Yeah.. and even 10 years after you said this, he still wearing those t-shirt 😂. He said once on Twitter that it's a sort of joke he makes: wearing certain t-shirt only when he makes public appearances and then he keeps them until a next appearance
saw one of these at my localish guitar shop.
they look very nice.
Ha he's so nervous. But man i love his work.
Must get one! I have always wanted a tele mainly because of Graham and the amazing sound of them and now he has his own signature one! It might take a while for me to get one though seeing as how I am 12 but still I WILL get one! (emphasis on the WILL)
Fav guitar player eva
my favorite guitaristtt
Graham Coxon on tour with Peter Doherty surely was something! Here's to hoping it happens again
I have no idea who this guy is, but the brief sequence w/ the photographs at the end made the whole video worth it for me lol
dude i'm so getting this tele
Coxon has said that the '52 reissue had really powerful Seymour Duncans in it, but he prefers something more vintage and relies more on the amp and pedals for distortion. I've also noticed his guitars have a bit more "attack" to them now rather than that chunky wall of overdrive the '52 did. I agree though it sounded awesome around 1998.
Such a legend
always liked seeing him with a Fender Duo-Sonic, like the Coffee and TV video. It may have been a modified Musicmaster, but either way that's a fun guitar as well, very jangly for Blur's sound.
To me that's the blur look and sound. Not a tele. Sorry not sorry lol
The brilliant Mr Coxon.
what is the intro song?
Great guitarist and same guitar idols as myself - Paul Weller and Wilko Johnson and same love of the Telecaster.
I wish he had mentioned Syd Barrett who is one of his big influences, both as a songwriter/arranger and as a guitarplayer. I hear a lot of Syd in his playing and his way of using the Telecaster (which was Syd's main guitar)
I played one at a store today :)
Someone really need to do a demo from this guitar....like now!
What a top bloke
His Telecaster is spinning faster...
so when does he discus his signature telecaster?
Which song is that in the video?
i was waiting for that...
whats the colour of his pick guard?
The Tele has a bite, punch and twang like no other guitar. Simple in design - but it just works.
I love the fact Graham still really doesn't know his good he is!
Can you still buy one of these anywhere?
30 of these were originally sent to Japan to be sold. Does anyone have an idea of how many were made? Can't find any history of them coming up for sale or what they might be worth.
It was done as a Europe only run, US wasn’t interested in it at all, a few went off to Asia, first run would have been about 250, I think there was an amount as a follow up.. not many though, it was a great guitar for the Money
I happen to own one. Im from the Philippines and it wasnt sold here too. I got it off a guy who bought it from the UK. He didnt even know who Coxon was. He just liked how it looked. Thankfully tho. I was willing to pay an arm and a leg but paid below how it cost when it came out in 2013. Such a unique twangy monster this guitar is because of the 320k pots. So far I only know of 2 Coxon teles here. Owned by me and a friend here.
Where can I get this signature model? Its now discontinued!
I recently started using a telecaster and as soon as i held it i knew it was the guitar for me. Now my strat sits in the corner unloved.
If Id have to have one criticism of blurs comeback gigs it would be that Graham wasnt playing the butterscotch 52 reissue tele no more! back in the day when he used it, esp around the times of blur blur and 13, that guitar seemed to scream such great noise! Check them out doing beetlebum from Glasto 98, now thats noise.
Having said that, prob different pedals back then, he used to have all boss pedals and two rats and big muff I think, that and the fact he would tanked up on stella! LEGEND
Name of song this video?
anyone of you not familiar with his playing. type in blur 2009 glastonbury or just search for his solo stuff/blur stuff on youtube. and yeah, c'mon fender, sell this guitar in the states and demonstrate graham's playing (ala johnny marr's fender clips)
He mentioned his Tele...but didnt see a Tele...just saw a guitar, amp, and piano! :-)
what amp is that???
The Cobain mustang is about the same price; also sells about the same as the Strummer tele. The Cobain jag is more, but of course it would be; amazing guitar.
Well surely Graham Coxon is one of THE icons in alternative music history.
With "his" signature fender telecaster - well, he bought it second hand from somone, and that someone did put a Gibson (!) humbucker instead singlecoil.
Why not..
I thought to take the graham coxon tele for fun, but one one side, better some guitarist builds his OWN "signature" guitar instead "buying" some copy (not replica) of an icon.
The guitar has one major disadvantage - you can not accuretly adust the strings to be octave-clean, as two strings are combined.
Even the (199€) Fender Squier Affinity Tele is better, so i bought one.
And you know what - i guess i will put a humbucker in it, there are also humbuckers available in singlecoil-width, so it fits perfectly.
Love this guitar. And love the music of Graham Coxon.
Arlon Rando I'd pick squier over fender as they are becoming very close in comparison.
I own two squiers and with a little tlc they are excellent guitars
@FlyinVJs30RR
Sorry, I'm actually not:/ I bothered to read the description this time, so I see he's from Blur, but I've only ever heard OF them. I don't think I could name a single one of their songs, I'm afraid. Where should I start?
(Oh, and on the photography part of my comment, I just thought that was well edited and actually brought my attention back for a second~shrug~)
Ily graham
@Maafa1619 when he says tube, he means THE TUBE a music tv show on channel 4 in the uk from 1982-87, i,m english and say it as chube, americans say it as it looks, which makes more sense really.
@Tycho114
K, thanks:)
Dead Bees - from the spinning top!
I'M OFF TO WATCH A VIDEO WITH GRAHAM ACTUALLY PLAYING GUITAR
I'd say this isnt his signiture guitar, his signature guitar is really a 50s tele reissue in blonde, thats what he used to play with blur the majority of the time, my baja tele gives a really good blur-y tone.
He sounds just like Nigel Tuffnel of "Tap". Except his amp goes to 12.
Just checked the specs at Fender.com nice guitar indeed, a pity it's available in Europe only.
Bloody Hell. I really want one!! ... Telecasters are the guitars I dream of! ...I wander what happened to Syd Barrett's Telecaster. Hmmm.
He was using a "rock oriented guitar"before the Tele. Gibson Les Paul by any chance?
todoroki then he realised lps are shit
Name of the song?
THANK YOU!
Can you even find this model anymore?
Awesome! Thanks, man!!!
I'm mad as all hell - everybody including Graham had lead me to believe he was some kind of primitive on guitar - HE IS NOT! The guy plays perfectly well and is just overly modest about his abilities in an "Oh golly, simple me" kind of way. The guy can rock!! I guess that was just a well kept secret?!
GREAT fucking player!
@crazyguy47 THIS! :DD
@yobhsiFehT Parklife is The ultimate Blur album. Modern Life is Rubbish is also great. Graham's solo work is also definitely worth checking out. He has a bunch of vids on YT.
HE DIDN'T START THE FIRE!
I have the esp ltd version of this tele
pretty certain all you people saying 'nice guitar, shame you didn't play it' etc haven't read the title.
Paul weller, fuck yes
@yobhsiFehT i would highly recommend Blur`s album wit the song titled Song2 ...tat is a very very good n underrated album in my opinion..its their self titled album
Wasn't stairway to heaven played on a Telecaster? Or at least the guitar solo was recorded on one
Yeah, his rare 59 toploader dragon Tele and a Fender Electric XII.
through a Supro amp I believe as well
"Discusses his signature Telecaster".
Well, it's lovely listening to him wander through his thoughts - no, seriously, no sarcasm intended: this guy is a key element of my teenage musical heritage - but really, I'd be pretty disappointed if I wanted what the title reckoned was happening here.
why the heck is this not available in the US??? cmon fender... get with the program
Whenever people call Blur britpop or a boyband, I just show them what Graham Coxon did on their self-titled album and "13". They usually shut up afterwards.
@Maafa1619 'Herbs'
Even his signature is cute.
@yobhsiFehT lol ok still do check out the whole album lol
Of course Coxon makes a fun of this happening "promote your fender signature tele..".
And of course this is ART.
As anything is ART.
The Art, to do what he has been told to sell this guitar, but "under the radar" send the true message:
This is sick rubbish.
Why?
Cause this is a guitar, Coxon found by random in a second hand store, some one did put some humbuckers into a tele, so its "different then usual".
And NOW the fans should follow their hero/icon, and (as they cant get a part of his body or his time), so they can go to bed with this replica of a second hand show tele where someone did put humbuckers in.
As TRUE VALUE can not be sold. THATS THE MESSAGE of this clip.
Some genius talent with loads of practicing and learning for years, and creating some unique guitar playing style as an artist.
And meeting good other geniusses and create some music that lasts.
Music that touches and changes peoples hearts.
Many parameters, many work, many luck.
And a true genius in some fender promotion marketing clip.
@FlyinVJs30RR
OK, so I checked that song out, and now I feel stupid:P:D It also makes me hate modern radio b/c if they really cared about THE MUSIC at all, they would be more intentional about telling us song titles, artist names, albums, etc. instead of just "commercial, commercial, commercial, song, dj drivel (usually just subtler commercials), commercial, commercial, song, ad nauseum":S Anyway, thanks for the reminder, I guess:)
I've one for sale ... :)
@locolegsharvey you're*
Pete Doherty!!
Matthew Alistair is a dirty junk head
Not really much discussion about the guitar went on
Lol Jonny Greenwood doesn’t get a signature tele this man gets a signature tele oh god
@iagobroxado i can buy one and send it to you :P
F hole? That'll be the Thinline telecaster.
Great guitarist, but IMPOSSIBLE to get this guitar..........tried everywhere!
musician tend to look younger :)
Would have liked to hear Graham actually play the guitar.
Any particular reason he doesn't actually PLAY the damn thing?
"Talking about music's like dancing about architecture." (Laurie Anderson.)
Play or be gone.
And if he's not really that good at it, how the hell did he get an endorsement deal? And why is our time being wasted?
+8chk9 did you even take 2 seconds to look up who this man actually is. He is probably the most innovative, talented, technical, genius musicians of the last 25 years.
+8chk9 you sound like a lot of fun...
jellystaf Then he should play.
It's a product review.
Two-tone Blue Well he didn't edit it, did he? I mean you can see that he did play, it's been muted due to poor creative and marketing choices imo.
@iagobroxado Go to andertons on google ans they'll ship to america :)
Guess he uses Teles because of Barrett
Fender: you need to sell this in america and Mexico
@yobhsiFehT lol i hope ur being sarcastic lol
