    I know this is EXTREMELY late to the party, but on the off-chance someone watches this video in the future, as I think it’s a pretty decent instruction video, I wanted to clear up the ruling on the issue at 10:20
    At the specified timestamp, this was actually a correct move, as it was specifically a RANDOM research area. The tiebreaker for the random research area action is to follow the numbered selection as he did in this video. The confusion comes from the similar Advance Highest Research Area action. The action images look similar, however the random one has a question mark printed largely on it. On the Advance Highest Research action, the tiebreaker is, as the name states, to first advance on the highest research track.

    Excellent play-through, it cleared out a few things I did wrong.
    I'd like to point out though that when PASSING, the booster you had remains green and the booster you get is turned to the red side, to show that you passed. Other players CAN get the booster you just had.

    Nice video Tom, thank you! The booster tiles do not work like this though. When you or the automa pass, you put back the booster tile you had for the round face-up and it is available for the other “player”. Then you select one of the other available tiles and you take it face-down to signify you have passed. When everyone has passed, all the booster tiles are turned face-up.
    The tiles in the common display are never face-down 😉

    Whenever I see a game like this I always imagine inviting some friends over who, when you ask if they like board games say "I LOVE THEM! I play Clue and Monopoly all the time!". You then set up the board, explain the rules and watch as their brains reduce to mush.

      It pretty much reduced our brains to mush at some points :D

    You also need to flip a federation token to move into the 5th space on the research track.

    Thanks for the play-through Tom, having recently received the game this gave me a great idea as to how it will play as well as similarities to TM. Looks like it will be fun.

    At 10:21, you did it right. You should not move the highest level, contrary to your written comment.

    At 40:30 if it's occupied you have to skip to the next space instead. So it's mean you have to cover the 3rd space.

    ~ Another great video by a good man. I've grown to trust and respect your opinions Tom, so after viewing this neat play-thru here I've ordered the game. Hope to enjoy Gaia Project as much as you did, Thanks!

    I believe that the round booster you put face down is the one you picked up to show that you have already passed and can't play until the next round. The three available round boosters should be available to pick, unless that's an automa only rule that I failed to notice.

    Thanks for the video! Just from pictures I thought I wouldn't really like it. Now that I've seen it in play, I'm definitely curious! It looks like a pretty fun game overall, even if I don't like the plastic bits. That said, great work! Really appreciate your solo videos.

    At 32:00 and several times during the game, when you use your faction's power of going up in a technology track you cannot choose which one, you must always pick the least developed one. If many tracks are at the same low level , then you can pick one among them to go up.

  • @olebrommm
    @olebrommm Před 5 lety +2

    when automa black and action you block the number you got of the available tecs, if its number 3 from left and its taken you block number 4 instead

    I know you can't take the same round booster tile, for consecutive rounds. But I thought you could take the ones returned by other players if they passed before you? Is this rule different for the automa player's returned tile?

      @krushpin Před 6 lety +4

      You are right.

    • @kerred
      @kerred Před 6 lety +2

      If i am not mistaken, you soumd right too. The "red button" side is on fromt of you after you pass, so others know to skip over you until they are done.

    • @olebrommm
      @olebrommm Před 5 lety

      this is right, cuz in a 4 player game there still is only 3 to choose from. so the lastone couldent change the roundbooster if you turn them on the pool., you turn the new one to indicate you passed, then next player can take your turnbooster when they pass

  • @MrSuperdelf
    @MrSuperdelf Před 3 lety

    Also as others have said you can indeed take a boost strip that a previous player put back after passing this round

    You could be placing the satellites of automa because there's one scoring tile which criteria is having more satellites.

  • @TrumanFest
    @TrumanFest Před 6 lety +3

    On 34:38 yo did wrong I think?. According to the automa rulebook you have to upgrade the highest research level as priority. the tiebreaker is as follow a) Highest research level the automa has reached then b) Numbered selection.

  • @Accatitippi
    @Accatitippi Před 5 lety +4

    at 21:00, shouldn't you get one power due to the AI's upgrade?

  • @Feldingor
    @Feldingor Před 2 lety

    Also every time the Automa builds a mine on a planet which is not adjacent to any of its structures, you need to put a satellite in an adjacent empty space hex (I guess it doesn’t count here because there’s no “most satellites“ endgame scoring tile)

    • @slickerdrips
      @slickerdrips Před 6 lety +1

      The power you use for a Gaia Project is different to normal actions that cost power - the power tokens can come from areas I, II or III

    At this point, czcams.com/video/rbeRiHCMnic/video.html he upgrades to his Planetary Institute and infers that he just gained the ability to the right of the Planetary institute. In this case is it making every building he owns +1 power level (used when assessing Federation forming). Anyway my understanding is that this is a faction power that is available to him from the start of the game. Thoughts?

    • @steftymo
      @steftymo Před 6 lety

      According to rulebook:-"As soon as you upgrade
      to your planetary institute, your faction gains a special
      ability or action space that is unique to your faction."

    • @kerred
      @kerred Před 6 lety +1

      The faction power in the upper right is the "always available" ability. The one on the building unlocks when you build it.
      A good reminder is the Bak T race. They cant move up on the grey tech track until you build its building.

    • @Feldingor
      @Feldingor Před 2 lety

      No, that ability is in the Planetary institute box so it’s blocked until you build it. It’s just that the ability icon is huge, otherwise the Institute miniature would cover it 😉
