Had a few of them now, the mid tier ones from Walmart have caught on fire on me. I have a older style washer and it tangled the heating element up which started to burn, thankfully the electronics had a fuse or something that blew so it go up but the blanket was charred and could have easily went up so the safety isn't so safe... I have no experience with expensive ones, I'm looking to buy one now.
It’s usually the electronics that break if you can just replace the little controller and the cords once a year that’s much cheaper than the whole blanket
Not many electric blankets are machine wash because machine washing any electric blanket can break or severely damage them. Maybe there are some, but I haven’t seen any.

Ill take the extra heat. The weights are what made the other more expensive.
