- In today's Europa Universalis IV (EU4) video we will be using the Extended Timeline mod and looking at the Modern Day bookmark, deleting the number one great power each year for the first ~20 years and allowing the remaining nations to sort out the mess left behind.

I think anyone colonising Africa isn't a good idea.
So, to perhaps explain the Belgian development from “subjects”, in the mod there is an option for the leader of the European Union to centralize warfare decisions, which basically makes it so that whatever nations remain in the EU act as subjects of the EU leader with regards to war, at least. I’ve seen this happen with Germany and the Netherlands and have done it myself as Spain. I got Italy, Turkey and some other minor EU nations to basically act as vassals during war, though nothing in the game apart from the relations map mode and the fact that their units are blue would indicate that they’re vassals or a new type of vassal. Since I don’t have dlcs, I can’t check GPs, so I’m not entirely certain if this is the case, but it’s the only explanation I have for that “bugged” development.

A similar concept where you download the "no core decay" mod then each 20 years the largest nation collapses and releases everyone with cores on them. Any cores they have themself that noone else has they will get to keep. Idk how the game will pick which nation gets the released cores but if there is a mod out there for that then this could be an interesting concept I guess
Norways capital at the end wasn’t in Manchuria it was in Russia the modern Chinese Manchurian border ends at that river next to where Norways territory was
My best guess for Sao Tome getting Korea is that Korea flipped Christian and Sao Tome got a personal union over them and then annexed them
Or it got vassalized, cause I don't see how they would get claims or even enough power to win that type of war

Belgium getting all this dev is not a bug. They just reformed the EU as the leader of the EU and turned the others into a special kind of vassal.
I'd really like to see more Extended Timeline videos, it's definitely my favorite mod. I've even suggested a couple stuff for it. I suggested that Congo-Brazzaville and Congo-Kinshasa should be able to form Kongo if the other one doesn't exist, and so that's the only reason that Kongo exists at 12:28 in the video, which is at least a tiny bit cool I think.

When you do these kinds of videos, where you delete great powers, maybe you could randomly generate a great power to delete each time? Could make it a bit more interesting as no one knows who will be killed next

I still think modern new world would be interesting, partly to see how it affects Spain, Portugal and the uk who will get much less colonial expansion - will they expand into Europe or just get killed by their neighbours?
