  • New Mexico's capital city of Santa Fe is a charming town with a distinct influence from its Spanish heritage. We've visited Santa Fe before, so we want to see and film something new to us to share with you on this episode of Grand Adventure. The Turquoise Trail is a National Scenic Byway that extends southward from Santa Fe along New Mexico State Road 14 to the east side of Sandia Peak, where it turns northwestward to return to Interstate 25 via the Sandia Crest Scenic Byway. Several small towns along the route, including Los Cerillos, Madrid and Golden, retain and preserve the area's unique history. We'll travel and explore the Turquoise Trail, and also venture into Santa Fe to see the San Miguel Chapel, the oldest church in the continental United States.

    ABOUT US
    Welcome to Grand Adventure, a CZcams channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, always filmed in stunning 4K.
    We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah during the winter months, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and dog Zoe are avid boondockers, so while you'll occasionally find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. We've now transitioned from "long-timing" for six months a year, to living and traveling in our RV full-time.
    We'll provide beautiful travel videos, as well as some tips and insight on trip planning, and equipping and maintaining your RV to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

      @GrandAdventure  Před 2 lety

      😄 Yeah Thom, that's probably not the Chamber of Commerce's motto. You as a resident can correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that ABQ has long had its rough patches, but 2021 saw some extraordinary increases in crime.

    • @thomfisher1100

      @@GrandAdventure I'm sure it isn't, but it is too true. I no longer live in ABQ. My daughter a former APD officer left for safer climes too. The homicide rate is one of the highest in the nation. It saddens me, but over the years things have just gotten worse. It has been headed downhill since the 60's and now sadly it is beginning to happen in Santa Fe, especially this past Summer. It's still pretty safe in most areas and once you are out of the cities things are much more pleasant, so I do not wish to scare people off!
      Again, great job on the video and thanks for the comment. You've only scratched the surface of what there is to see out there. You could spend a few years just in N. Mex doing shows and not cover all of it.

    We really enjoyed our stay in Santa Fe, but sadly it was just too short. We were in a hurry to get to Bandelier National Monument and explore that while we were there, saw our cousins who lived there eat the time, but then had to bug out after just a couple nights. Had no idea about the Turquoise Trail, but gives us all that more reason to go back!

    This looks like an area to explore with our ATVs. Santa Fe Skies RV park you stayed at reminds me of my father's collection of antique utility engines and tractors. I'll bet he could have spent days looking at that collection. Glad to have you back our SLC area.
