It is very difficult to get a visa appointment date in Nepal, which is the reason I am planning to apply and get an i20 from a university that issues i20 within a few weeks time. I'm planning to fill and submit the DS-160 form and book my visa appointment using the details given in this i20, however, I don't have any intensions to attend this university. Suppose my interview appointment got booked with this i20, and I got an i20 from my first-choice university a month before the interview. In this case, should I need to fill a new DS-160 form using the details given in this recent i20 and submit it? If I do this thing will I be able to edit my DS160 confirmation number and university related details in my CGI portal although my visa appointment is booked? And if this is the case should I carry my old and new DS160 confirmation and explain the entire thing of why I filled two DS160s and finally which university will I be going to or just carrying the recent DS160 confirmation will work? Yes, you can book a visa appointment date. Later, if you receive admission from a better university, you will have to fill a new DS-160 form with the new I-20 details. After submission, you need to go to the CGI portal and update your profile with the new DS-160 number. During the interview, you don't need to take the old DS-160 confirmation page, only the latest one. The VO won't ask you about your previous DS 160 details.

I am a Bangladeshi student. I have completed my 10th grade 2 years ago in 2021. From 2022 to 2023 I did not go to any high school in Bangladesh. Now, I want to go to US in a high school to grade 11.
I am filling out the DS-160 form for an F1 student visa for US. I am facing a problem with both the present and previous work/ education/ training information section.
In the present education section, I have written about my 10th-grade school's name. And in the previous education section where I have to answer the following question -
" Have you attended any institution on a secondary level or above?"
But what should I write in the previous education section? I am not understanding if the answer is yes or no. If yes, should I again write about my 10th-grade school's name as 10th grade is the secondary level (SSC) in Bangladesh?
I have not enrolled in any educational institution for 2 years. 2 years ago I passed 10th grade.
1) What should I write in the present education section?
2) What should I write in the previous education section?
I mean in which section should I write about my 10th grade? Present or previous?

Yes, DS 160 is supposed to be filled by the candidate only. Go through our video, and you can submit the DS 160 yourself.

I am reaching out to you for guidance on my US visa application. I am from Bangladesh and have received an I-20 for fall 2024. However, I am facing some doubts related to the DS-160 form's section on present work/education/training.
As an incoming freshman who has recently completed 12th grade, I am not currently employed or enrolled in any education or training programs. Hence, I am confused about which option to choose: "Not employed" or "Student and provide details of my previous institution." Which option should I select?
Additionally, I would like to know if it is possible to schedule an appointment before submitting the DS-160 form.
I would highly appreciate your help in clearing up these doubts. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Before scheduling your visa interview, you must submit your DS 160 form. You are not allowed to schedule an appointment without submitting this form. In the "present work/education/training" section of the form, you may select "Student" as your current occupation and provide details of your recent education. If you recently graduated high school, you may include this information in this section.

If you are transferring your credits from Nepal to a university in the USA, you should mention that you are a student. For the primary occupation section, you can select 'Student' and explain that you are transferring your credits to a US university.

If you haven't received your I-20 yet, it's advisable to contact the university's admissions team and explain your urgency. They will assist you with this matter.

You should mention any internships, courses, or volunteering that you did during your gap. Simply stating that you did nothing during the gap period won't reflect well during the visa interview.
