Here is a video I shot during Christmas week in the downtown historic district of my home town of Winter Garden in Florida. Highlighting its beauty, and some of my favorite spots around the downtown area, from cafes, to hot-dogs, stunning lakes to a brewery. Come check it out!
Located only 25 minutes or so from Walt Disney World & Universal Orlando Resort, Winter Garden has the world of Central Florida attractions and adventures on its doorstep, but you would be forgiven for not knowing it was anywhere close to these attractions when you are there.
It truly is a beautiful & vibrant little city with a charming identity, full of things to do, nature and a bustling historic downtown.
I hope everyone had a peaceful holiday season and here's to the best 2022 for everyone.

Winter Gardens downtown came alive again whit the introduction of the bike trail that runs down Plant Street, that brought many cyclists through town on week-ends and the small businesses came back to life in the early 2000s. What had polluted Lake Apopka were the sugar cane farms that were plentiful at one time in Winter Gardens history..
It’s got an interesting history. I read about all of this in the museum and had no idea of most of it before then!
I live in sw Orlando. I try to get out to winter garden when i can. I love downtown winter garden.

Moon Crickets Grille Restaurant on Plant Street is my absolute must eat place, their shrimp and chicken teriyaki salad platter is wonderful!

After watching your video my family & I visited Winter Garden from the UK three weeks ago on a Saturday morning when the Farmers Market was on. What a beautiful town fantastic shops, restaurants & coffee shops, we are now in LOVE with Winter Garden, thank you for posting this without it we would have never visited, looking forward to coming back next year.

This town is literally so cute!!!! It's sunny and warm year round, it's new, has lots of things to do, it's well designed, very family friendly and has history behind it. Also I love the rain, I'd rather have rain than snow

This is all in far north/downtown winter garden. If you move there you will most likely end up in south winter garden where it's just dime-a-dozen, standard suburban sprawl for miles.

Last winter, I spent time in Mt. Dora and Winter Park. Both beautiful areas also. Now I might consider Winter Garden after watching your video. You made me want to try out every single restaurant you mentioned, LOL

I grew up in Winter Garden. I lived there for 18 years, and have many fond memories of riding my bike up and down those bricked streets. I moved away to go to college in Texas and Georgia, married and lived near Atlanta, GA for over 20 years. I'm back in the land of my childhood memories now, and it's bittersweet. I absolutely love Winter Garden, and I'd move back here in a heartbeat, but it's so popular now, I can't afford the old neighborhoods that were my old stomping grounds. Still, I live in nearby Ocoee and come to Winter Garden to shop, dine and reminisce with friends whenever I can. Lovely video, thanks so much for posting it.

I understand what you are saying about bittersweet. I get the exact same feelings when I return to places from my youth in London. I was thinking whilst making the video, that I want to highlight all of its charm, but I hope not toooooo many people descend upon the town 😂. I think people who know nothing of the area will enjoy a quick visit there to experience it’s charm. I am often passing through or close to ocoee.
I actually lived in Austin, Texas for about 10 years prior to Florida.

On this video in particular you’ve certainly done justice to Winter Garden. It’s somewhere we’ll definitely visit - most likely when the farmers market is on and to try out Crooked Can.

This video just made my day. Seeing the sign in the RR Museum made me smile. My Mom grew up in Ocklawaha and I have so many childhood memories visiting our Mema there. The remaining family are now in Weirsdale and Leesburg, but Ocklawaha will always be special to us.

The whole outdoor life you have over there is such a huge contrast to ours here back home. I guess our weather contributes to that lol. Also not living in a large town we don’t have the same ‘coffee shop’ type vibe, we have just the one shop 😂 not complaining though although having your weather occasionally would be nice 👍 loved the message at the end, every word so so true. Nice job, Chris. We live in Clermont. We try to get to Downtown Winter Garden, every now and then. Often on Saturday mornings for the Farmers Market. A couple of your favorite palces are also ours. The breakfast and creme brulee coffee at Rosalie's French Cafe is the best! Happy New Year!

Great vlog , I love a French café I can’t wait to try it in September ,as we aren’t hiring a car in January! You just get more and talented with each new vlog ! We used to stay in winter garden a lot ,before we bought our dvc in 2003 ! It’s really grown in the last 18 years ,it looks fabulous now ! We tend to go to winter park a lot as I like the boutiques and cafe culture! Stay safe x x

Thank you for doing my hometown justice its such a wonderful place. I loved that when the current city hall was rebuilt like 2010ish, it really set the tone for the future that you see now. The old Town feel, I love it. I've always said that city hall looks like it belongs in Gotham city! Another no, do not go tasting the olive oil... just take it home and cook with it. Haha 😄 I've done it, wasn't my thing. I love shopping there though. They offer smaller bottles to try if you're not ready to dedicate to a large bottle yet. They have more than oil so go check it out sometime.
I have been in wg since 2001 and seen this place grow. Its grown so much that I am sadly not able to keep up with the housing market now that I'm ready to buy. The idea moving away makes so sad, but I will cherish it here in west orange county! (BTW thats what we yelled at our football games "west orange county")

Such a lovely video. Driven past Winter Garden in the past whilst on holiday in Florida wish we’d parked up now. It all looks so beautiful with the Christmas lights and music and all those poinsettias! You are so lucky to live there and your affection really shows through.

I can’t be the only one who thought it was going to be a slice of England filmed in the style of Chris when he said home town. Once again the production quality has blown me away, keep up the good work and stunning content, I predict 15k by the end of 2022, I on the other hand just need to find the confidence to upload video number 1. You must have picked up some serious BBQ skills living in Texas so long.

My only advice to you.... just upload it. The process of creating something breeds creativity. If you made it, upload it! Older than WG I believe and as such has developed a bit further. It feels like where WG is headed over time as it redevelops and expands. Birthdays / Holidays, even some sporting events in the UK etc.... but you will find your own ways of dealing with them. FaceTime etc, find local spots that offer home comforts but most importantly try to get involved with your local community / area and start new traditions and regimens that are exciting to you where you are living.
