Absolutely! I feel this way too. I frame this as developing accent flexibility. People do better when they can embrace their identity and make choices. I like the focus on doing that's great.

Oh hi i was almost forgetting you😄. This is the first time i hear about the term 'Accent reduction' and it sounded strange to me at first and then i had to google it to see what it is😄. You are right. Instead of focusing on reducing my accent i always focus on how to improve my American English accent if that is what you mean. Anyway nice to see you back and wishing you happy, healthy, wealthy new year🥳

Hi Victoria! Amazing video. You are so right! The way we frame this process is key for success. We have to build self confidence to develop that skill as any other and as you mentioned, each language has their own cadence and stress. You are a wonderful teacher. Happy Holidays and I watch your videos quite often. You are a gem 👏👏👏💫🤩

@@AmericanAccentMastery I'm not agree with this , because to become fluent is important reduce the accent to sound more natural and not mechanized .

I feel like Accent Reduction is could be a specific thing. Like for (say) a British accent, I could accent reduce to remove my regional accent to be less specific.
But for learning a language and the correct accent in it then that'd be Accent Building or Accent Modification or *even better* Accent Training. (Or even lump it in with Voice Training in general). All of these would be better for precisely the reasons why you specified in the video.

Words do matter! As I commented on the the most recent Merriam-Webster video, no one understood this better than George Orwell. "Accent mastery" definitely is a better name for what your clients are engaged in.
