      Love that knife so much. But for the price I bought 3 Ka-bar Beckers (1 for me 1 for my dad 1 for my father in law) and a s&w comat dagger. And still had 480$ left over. I’ll buy another pistol before I pay that much for a knife.

    In the Manix2 XL the ball bearing is the load bearing part. The cage is simply there to manually retract the bearing, there by unlocking the knife. I agree the titanium cage makes the manual operation more reliable. I've watched a CZcamsr baton desert hard wood with the XL for two days. The end result, was the blade had slight side to side play, which was easily adjusted out. Dollar for dollar, it's hard to beat the Manix2 XL.

    I still wonder why folding knives strength tests are all about locking mechanism. I never use the spine of my folding knives. I want to know which knives would handle heavy use on the edge part of the blade, therefore pressure toward the back, not pressure toward the closed position. 🤷‍♂

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  Před 2 lety +1

      The reason why is because it would be considered the weakest point on most knives, the stop pin should be strong enough for most things considering it's a tough knife, geometry will be the biggest factor next to lock strength, meaning the blade will snap. Also the closing direction is the most dangerous to the user if it fails. And if your cutting something and the blade gets caught in some way, and you have to rock it up and down to pull it out you don't want the blade to close on your hand, or if you stab into something you don't want the lock to fail

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  Před 3 lety +1

      So the cage is made aftermarket and wouldn't work on a sog because the spring system is different, the manix uses a ball lock instead of a bar and is in a more reliable spring. So unless a company makes an aftermarket part it won't work, all these knives are straight badassery all the way around, someone tried telling me aluminum isn't good for knives and that socom would probably break lol 😆 I laughed and reminded him how tried and tested these knives are in the most insane environments under extreme pressure

    The axis lock is no better than a liner lock under testing. The claim that it “has to literally push through the spine” has been thoroughly debunked. The spring bar simply moves out of the way and allows the blade to fold under tension.

    Not sure I follow your definition of strong. You seem to focus on perceived lock strength and also scale toughness. For locks, cross bar locks (like the Axis locks of Benchmade) are stronger than liner locks and frame locks. Lockbacks are also stronger than liner locks yet you show no lockbacks in your demo (like the excellent and venerable Buck 110, or like many excellent Spyderco models). Scale materials other than metal (Titanium, Steel or Aluminium) like G10 and Micarta and - why not - FRN, are very tough. Also you have not taken in to account the actual steel used in making the knives. I think you should refine your criterias.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  Před 3 lety

      I only have a couple lock backs but not tri ad, regular lock backs are not as strong as you think, certain framelocks with specific lock face geometry are very strong I'm looking at lock strength and blade strength, just because a lock is strong doesn't mean the blade won't snap. I'm looking at all around strong and tough, yes I know that axis locks are stronger than liner locks I believe I talked about them in the beginning, I used knives from my own collection

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  Před 3 lety

      They have been tried tested and proven to be extremely tough, this is very tough aluminum, and it has steel parts sandwich construction. And the clip Is placed that direction for a reason and that's been proven as well to be better on this knife in most cases yes tip up us better but not on thus knife, go watch all the videos on the microtech socom elite it's been around for 20 plus years for a reason battle tested and used in extreme conditions.
