A snapshot of this morning here in Olas Altas Mazatlan. Super dangerous and sketchy - watch out! Police everywhere, guns drawn, etc. Or maybe I was watching the news somewhere?
My parents live 2 blocks from the mercado. I miss that place so much. The plazuela is awesome as well. My parents owned Topalo for a couple of years. They are in there 80's and it is way safer than Phoenix where I grew up. They walk around at night and have never had a problem!
Sooooooooo DANGEROUS!! Oooooooooooooooooooh. Ima scareded. Been there, and would go back in a heartbeat. We walked everywhere including an hour and a half walk inland from beach to check things out. Never once did we feel unsafe. Don’t panic! Get organic! Hahaha
So good to hear! The title had me saying, "Oh no" 😢. Will go & want it to be a place, me & my husband love. Should we sharpen our Spanish speaking speaking skills?
We’ve just returned to Michigan after staying in Mazatlan (Playa Norte) for six months and we’re already aching to return. One difference we noticed right off… we can walk for blocks and blocks here without having to look down. Sidewalks in Mazatlan are the only danger we encountered. 😊
@ddegrazier I don't think they are worse than Merida lol. I saw so many people on wheelchairs in Mexico. I wonder if this has something to do with those uneven sideways and those stairs without ramp.
Hey Vash. I haven't been farther south than Stone Island, so I asked a local friend of mine. It's very safe was his answer, but just to be sure, make sure you drive in the daytime. But in his words it's super 'tranquilo' in the area you drive through.
That market was the cleanest I have ever seen. I live in Veracruz Veracruz and all the markets are nasty and the people are just hustlers all the way through but they are nasty, trash and food all over, vegetables and fruits on ground just plain nasty. Why worry about your sweat? Here in Veracruz Veracruz it has been over 96degrees but the feel-like temperature is 110. It is plain hot normal to sweat.
I have been going to mazatlan since 1990 up until 2019,,have not been since covid,,however I shall be returning this year ,,I have never ever had or seen a problem,,,everyone I met have become friends and the people and plain nice..I went up to the ( Hood) urans beautiful spent 3 days,,,want trouble you can find it
Generally if you're not a cartel member you're Not a Target, you would be more of A WASTE OF TIME to them... I've been to Ciudad Juarez for years never really had and issue. 🤷🇲🇽
Ahhh OK! I thought it meant white guy. Thanks Senor Dossier :)

Not entirely. In Mexico Guerro (pronounced huerro) is slang for white people that live in Mexico. Specifically white Europeans. It's not a negative connotation it's more of a term of endearment. I call my white cat Guerro and sometimes Blanco.
I have lived all over Mexico for 4 years. On one hand, there are a ton of things to do in Mazatlán, the Malecon is safe 24/7, and the ocean is beautiful. But his town is loud, dirty except for the Malecon area, full of corruption, and petty theft is rampant. The Federal cops will shake you down in a heartbeat but the local cops are great. I live on the beach is a high rise and before coming, did my homework and heard NONE of this, only great reports. I see others have had better luck but feel either Puerta Vallarta or Ajijic are far better suiting for full time living IF you have a little "extra money". As for me, I had my fun but am burned out by the grinding poverty one see daily, plus I love my home area of South Florida. My lease is up in a couple months and while I had a blast down here overall, will not miss it one bit.
@@DomsTakesDon't believe this comment Mazatlán is clean, not only the malecón but neighborhoods like El estadio, lomas, the golden zone, the marina, El Dorado, etc etc is clean !!!
@@masofo4769 I agree with you re: Lomas, Golden Zone, and Marina. Definitely not dirty like a TJ at all. I call the Golden Zone the little Miami of Mazatlan - not saying that this is entirely correct but has it's merits I feel. :)
what are you afraid the delicious tortillas will eat you? The beautiful woman will make you spend your retirment? what are you afraid of? I mean the potholes are an issue if you aren't paying attention.

You must have so many great memories here.

So true!!
What's going on with the sidewalks?
@@travelerawakenings8477 they are super uneven with ups and downs and sometimes holes etc. 😬

Thank you for the sweat understanding Lobo! :)
Why does the title to you're video say " beware mazatlan is dangerous " ?
Great question. It's because all of my friends and family in the US were petrified that I would live in Mexico. 😬
It’s what scamming CZcamsrs do to get you to watch.
Because that's what all the news on the states say... that's what sells fear mongering sell... 🤷
Gave you an upvote - but your title is misleading... that is, unless you consider tortillas dangerous?
Haha! Thx for the upvote!

Looks like a fun place hermano!

Yes ma'am! 😁
I don't like that the beachfront buildings are short. I prefer skyscrapers for a nice view.
Fair enough!

Feel free to shower and change your clothes first next time. That’s pretty gross.
😂 Yeah I sweat a lot in hot humid places. 😂
Is not dangerous
No, not any more dangerous than cities in America for sure. Obviously walking around in bad neighborhoods at night is not warranted though.
