Why did the pre sequel get so much flak? Yeah it was kind of short but seeing Jack's slow descent into madness, finding out why the Claptraps where all destroyed, and really just tieing everything together between 1 and 2 was great to not only see, but get to play. And the bullshit excuse of "oh, its just more borderlands 2". In what universe is that a bad thing?
Gaza Shotshell I think it gets flak because it’s much easier and lacked end game content and replay ability in comparison to 2 alongside having its dlc canceled and while using the same engine, you think it’d be easier to expand on it and make a better game but it was something that was made in 2 years so I mean, it’s good if you give credit where it’s due but could’ve been better
I found it boring and annoying. Bar the playable characters and the context it was set in, the game was mostly forgettable imo. No end game, lackluster content, unimaginative environments, etc. etc. I didn't think it'd be possible to mess up BL game for me, yet I couldn't help but look forward to finishing it and not touching it again sigh.
Also that annoying kid was a nightmare to deal with.
The plot, the frame story, the maps, the jokes, the voice acting, the heroes, the nonstop bugs, the color scheme, the sidequests, the hub area -- not in that order -- were all awful. The movement was good.
It didn’t exactly feel like a Borderlands game in terms of environment and enemies, there were more bugs than usual, and a lot of the new characters were pretty annoying. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

Claptrap and his random ass abilities are so fun. The reason why i kept going back. Also the whole stomp/low gravity/oxygen was pretty fun too. And that u could use oxygen for super fast revive.
Edit: also seeing Handsome Jack develope from goodie to delusional badie was so entertaining

From what I’ve heard, it was 2k Australia that shut down/something bad happened that stopped further publishing of dlcs. I can guarantee you the fact they had to put uvhm with claptastic voyage together was due to the knowledge that 2k Australia shutting down and wanting to push some content further. It’s pretty sad, I am sure gearbox already planned the next 2 dlcs after luxy’s space adventure already and have other content on their scrapbook. It’s just too bad I guess. Let’s hope the mystery dlc for both bl2 and bltps will be a good one

I am gonna assume by proof u meant the mystery dlcs? Supmatto has covered it, and he has been the most credible leaker/informant as of now. Several news outlet took a stance to his knowledge. So yea it’s pretty safe to assume.
Remember, nothing is confirmed until official, take it with a grain of salt like I had. Initially, was rather skeptical of supmatto as he may be just providing fake news. After bl3 release and many thing s confirmed by him, he is certainly pretty trustworthy for now

5 years already! It feels like only 2 years ago! I was 10 when that game came out... wow
People don't realize 2k Australia had a much smaller team than borderlands 2, and a much smaller budget. I think they did great with what they had. There was stuff hidden all over the place if you actually hunted for it. Secret bosses, a hidden monolith, to name a few. I should add, gearbox themselves was heavily involved in the development of claptrap's voyage. Look it up. I think they did like %80 of the entire thing.

While Two is a better overall game, I found myself more invested in Pre-Sequel's story. From Jack's Downfall to our betrayal of Felicity and even Zapadeon's men's dying words. The gravity mechanic was also fun. Guess endgames really the biggest problem. In the end, a decent title worthy of the name. Will definitely revisit now that the hype trains rolling...

For me I got tired of the moon, the way it looks and going in the wrong direction...heaven forbid you drive your car over the cliffs and into the lava. The enemy mobs I really wasnt invested in or familiar with. Borderlands 2 makes sure you know about skags and bullymongs where the presequal I find that I just kill a mob and dont know what it is or just run past them.
I really enjoyed being on jacks side and listening to him throughout the story. I really do think the moon was the biggest thing I disliked about the game.
No slag weapons already had me sold, and all the vh's are great! Too bad half of them are dead
I've never even played endgame in borderlands so I didn't see any problems with the game I've usually just played borderlands games once through and then forgetting them. still very good games.
BLTPS is my favorite. The skill trees were filled with action, not just buffs. The Low gravity environments are a joy to jump traverse, tons of verticality, it makes ground based FPS seem stale. The Slam Mechanic is a blast, and makes close combat scenarios enjoyable, instead of the typical “shooting gallery” from behind cover. I was skeptical about Laser weapon’s, but they’re as diverse as normal weapons (certainly more than the video described). The vacuum/atmosphere changing areas is really interesting, requires different techniques, and even the sound changes. There isn’t as strong a focus on Fire/flesh, corrosive/armor mechanics, due in part to fire not creating DoTs in a vacuum. Cryo is infinitely better than Slag as the damage boosting element; it does it’s own thing, freezing, and isn’t required for UVHM. (I hate BL2 UVHM; I don’t like having to methodically apply a slag DoT on nearly every enemy, constantly swapping weapons. One of my least favorite mechanics ever). The Stingray hovervehicle is a blast, highly intuitive, extra verticality and exploration, and does slam attacks too. The Oz kits are fun, and can really shape a playstyle, especially utilizing low gravity. The Grinder makes having purples equipped far more likely, and the extra luneshine effects can really make a gun far better and unique. I disagree that the environments aren’t varied; they are, and look great. I also like the game’s length. It doesn’t wear out its welcome. The DLC’s are mostly great; the holodome isn’t robust, but the Claptastic voyage more than makes up for it. The late game could use more, but the planned DLC was scrapped, unfortunately.
i know this comment is 3 years old and its terrible internet etiquette to reply to a dead thread but youre so right, on every point. tps was always in my top 2 even when it was onlt 1, 2 and the spin-offs. the mechanics were just so refreshing. (can you tell im on my latest replay)

I've been playing this game lately and honestly, its a lot of fun. I think the story is enjoyable and the gameplay is fantastic. Athena is fun to play as too! I'm looking forward to playing the game multiple times.
Getting rid of slag and adding cryo and lasers were excellent changes. I'm glad it looks like that will continue in Borderlands 3.
So far 3 is the good from 2 and the good from TPS, well besides no DLC characters...but I'm sure that will change

Pre Sequel is a spin off, its just backstory of the events prior to Borderlands 2.

It's my favourite Talltale game... the rest of them are just to depressive to jump back in to while this one is a blast to play every time.

I still play Borderlands 1, Borderlands Pre Sequel, and Borderlands 2 to this day. I actually have all the DLC's too! Sadly, I don't own a Xbox one or Playstation 4 to get Borderlands 3 when it releases.
I dont know if its just me but there are places where quest missions are so horribly placed and when done in bulk taking it intentionally forced you to go unnecessary back tracking on locations as obvious padding. The biggest offenders are:
1. The quarantine mission and its proceeding side quests
2. The Opha putty mission by Zentrap
3. All of Pickle's side missions
And there some open quests that will not appear as "???" in the fast travel
I've got into the series through the legendary collection on switch, and honestly, after beating 1 and 2 (irrelevant, but I killed Handsome Jack with bane) and playing through a good chunk of pre sequel, Pre sequel is honestly my favorite game in the series. It's hilarious, the vault hunters actually interact with the characters(Jack [Timothy Lawrence] telling the security Claptrap to go $!%! Himself and getting ticketed was absolutely hilarious), and the gameplay is insanely fun. Granted their isn t whole lot new, but I don't see why it gets so much hate. It's an absolute blast, and honestly, people, if you played 1 and 2, play this game, it's just so good
My favorite thing about the pre sequel was the laser weapons. I could play with those things forever. It sucks they didn't bring it back to Borderlands as its own weapon category.
I was a fan of the TPS. Sure, I was annoyed that we couldn't farm bosses, but overall the story was good to me. I had a blast.

Completely underrated imo. All 6 characters are way more interesting and diversely designed than in bl2 and 1, it has the best Borderlands DLC ever and no fucking Slag. Gameplay wise TPS is my favourite BL game, it's a shame that it lacks endgame, but in the end it was never supposed to be as big as BL2. I hope if at some point Gearbox truly remasters BL2 they somehow manage to integrate Lasers, Cryo and the TPS classes into BL2, I can't imagine that this would be that difficult to do, I would love to do BL2 endgame with the way superior TPS classes.

@@SSlash i know but it was still Borderlands and wasnt as good as the other 2, i still enjoy BLTPS. the reason why i say it didnt live up to the others is cause of the endgame, thats literally my only issuse with it. otherwise i enjoyed the story, i enjoyed learning the back story of characters. i enjoyed the glitched weapons (was a bit unhappy about reused legendarys) but all in all i loved it.

Gearbox not only fun game but manageable to complete mission. For me 1 & 2 was really difficult for single. I prefer to play single. So I hope gearbox will keep us single player in mind. I played as the enforcer. With his extra help built in. It was manageable to complete the game and it was fun.

Despacito 2 , I have a PS4 pro and running with the HD pack. No frame rate issues I have noticed with the pre-sequel install. Haven’t started BL2 yet.

@Despacito 2 i just finished the game yesterday on ps4 pro, i would say 99% of the time it holds a solid 60 fps, there was only a couple noticeable drops in frames especially on the Research and Development level, but yeah other than that the game runs really well
@Despacito 2 maybe, but yours will be running at a lower resolution so that will more or less compensate for the lesser hardware giving you the same framerate as mine if you're lucky.
edit: the game runs at a native 4k resolution on ps4pro
I played almost a 1000 games in different platforms since 2000s and i can easily say all borderlands games (except 3) are excellent games with a lot of fun for shooter/rpg fans PLUS great writing, a lot of comedy and likeable heroes (and villains).
I don't get the hate for BL3. The gameplay is on another level. Shooting mechanics, animations, intuitive controls... everything is butter smooth compared to the clunky, stiff shooting of BL2. I recently replayed BL2 and realized the story isn't nearly as good as I thought it was back in the day.

@@hoarder1975 It's the same comic drivel as every Borderlands game. They're not about "story". At most, they have some fun characters that are good for a chuckle or two.
I loved the combat in the Pre-Sequal. The original two games don't really change much in basic ground based combat but the increased verticality of movement during combat coupled with the better loot drops resulting in more variety in fun weapons and really great class skills and skill trees that had a much bigger impact. The O2 meter adds an added element to world building and gameplay. The game really should have succeeded more in sales, the game had a boycott at the time with anti-SJW feelings against the writers and it really wasn't justified when the result was no more DLC, a dead studio and no Borderlands games for the next 5 years, instead we got Battleborn which was dead on arrival.
When you look back at all the recent Loot shooter games that have come out since BL the pre sequel it’s safe to say that this game is definitely decent in comparison to Anthem, Destiny and the Division.
Yeah, 2K Australia was the probably comprised of the B-team so there were definitely certain aspects of the game that don’t hold up when compared to BL1 or 2 but they still managed to do a decent good with what they were given and the Formula that makes Borderlands games fun is still there.

Honestly think the pre-sequel is underrated. Definitely has its issues but the story, characters and environments are great. Not to mention the claptrap DLC is my personal favourite dlc in the whole series. It’s a shame It didn’t get a bit more content

This game have the best Vault Hunters, Claptrap himself, Handsome Jack, Ruthless Mercenary, Ice Queen, Lesbian and the Cowboy.
But sadly i felt unsatisfied i couldn't enjoy them to the boredom.
I hear you talking about the environments not being as diverse as 2 was but all the beautiful colors in every clip are just popping off my screen! I’d say it’s not that big of an issue because it’s def the most colorful out of all of them because of the generous pallet of neon colors spilt across the worlds.
Correction: They didn't use Windows Media Player in 2019. They used the Movie & TV app from Windows 10 to play the trailer. Which works perfectly fine. I have no idea how the presentation was that botched.

It's sad to see now, that people were thinking BL3 will have a good story...
I don’t know where I’m at storywise, but so far I can say that it’s not THAT bad, though it has way to many enemies. Like, get the quest while fighting 20+ enemies, get to first square quest marker while fighting 20+ enemies, go to second…, go to quest giver to turn quest in while fighting…
In between you have to travel, simetimes through the whole map to get to the next objective fighting the same enemies again and again. Kinda tedious. Admittedly you don’t HAVE to kill then, but the amount of enemies sometimes makes it difficult to pass them.
I play as claptrap, maybe that makes things even harder. Have to play other chars yet.
I’m playing through this game for the first time and i love it, the gravity mechanic is super well tuned imo and i love how it’s just absolute chaos really enjoyed it

It's 2023, and I'm still playing it. Borderlands is awesome.
This game were the final game that was published by 2K Australia before the company were shut down 6 months later.
In my opinion, and I guess everyone will disagree with me on this one, I think both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel are equally great!
Sure it can be annoying with the gravity where a loot can sometimes (on drop) flies miles away from you and falls down on instant death pit, but it introduced new playable characters, new mechanics (like cryo element) and OZ-kits. And also tells the story how Jack rose in power.
The lack of legendarys in borderlands 2 is annoying.
I only got 1 at level 4 in the whole game,and I did all the side missions.
Borderlands 3 is much more generous with legendarys.
That's where the grind machine system comes in. But yeah, the lack in legendaries from actual drops can be a little annoying but not impossible.
And I agree that Borderlands 3 is very generous with legendaries. Even including lost loot system that make sure that you don't miss any drops if it fell down onto instant death pits or other unreachable areas and like that.

I think if you’re a major borderlands fan or you’re interested in the world lore - it has to be played. It explains so much and gives a lot of major character backstory. Definitely changed my view of Jack as a villain.

For me, the grinder is easily the best part of borderlands pre sequel and is why i prefer the game over the rest of the games in the series.

Borderlands the pre sequel five years later review, five years later. I wonder if it’s still worth watching.
Why no one has ever mentioned the mobility and the slam mechanic of BLTPS???? Players are not meant to just shoot and hide like traditional FPS. BLTPS takes this even further compared to BL2 with lots of weapons, abilities, slam mechanic, and kill skill/kill unique weapons' ability to encourage players spam slamming more frequently while still has a very good survivability and clearing speed. It makes close-mid range combat more fun compared to BL2.
Not to mention Oz Kit CAN HAVE CYRO element! Which is very important because Cyro is how your characters are going to deal the most damage. I do personally enjoy BLTPS more than BL2 mainly because of the gameplay elements, and slamming is one of them.
If someone complain low gravity is bad and they do not do slamming frequently/noticed there are lots of ways to refill oxygen, then they must not be playing properly.
TPS is still a good game that pushed Borderlands forward, main issue for the people who like it really seems to be lack of content which is such a shame! Game did add interesting mechanics

As someone who hate grinding and side quests this is the best game in the series for me. Also the best and most In debt characters! They speak , they have cool lore, Wilhelms voice changing depending on the cybernetics. Much better than running over and over the same bosses for grinding purpose.
They also talk to and about each other like when one does a action skill the other compliments them.
I would have jizzed in my pants if there was a dlc where you play as Wilhelm steamrolling New haven and the vault hunters
TPS is pretty good for a single playthrough.
It just doesn't have the things to give it much end game content like BL2 has.
Worth for the wild ride though.

This is just my opinion, but... ThePreSequelisbetterthanBL2sueme.
I never payed very much attention to the stories in both games as I was more focused on playing through the game with my friend, so I'm judging this purely based on a gameplay perspective.
Comparing BL2 to pre-sequel(PS) , i think its shocking how much pre-sequel gets its gameplay, characters and skills right. In PS, I found the playable characters to be far funner and more interesting than what BL2 had to offer. I've played through the game as Aurelia and currently playing through as Claptrap, I would've played through as Jack as well if it were not for my friend already playing him. In my first playthrough I absolutely adored Aurelia and her playstyle and am now falling in love with Claptrap. Their skill trees appeal to me a lot more than literally any BL2 character and their abilities are also leagues funner than any of the BL2 cast (with the exception of maybe Krieg?)

TL;DR: Pre-Sequel characters and gameplay is more refined and a lot funner than BL2. Gaining new skills in BL2 felt like a slog and levelling up was a nightmare. Characters in BL2 were either entirely boring (Gunzerker- I thought dual-wielding would be fun...) or had kinda crappy abilities (Maya's ability just holds one guy up? gurl what). Only character I liked was Gaige and she still had some issues. This is all my opinion though ;(((
I thoroughly enjoyed both the first and second borderlands. I’m finally playing the PreSequel. It is bland and confusing.
The comedy writing is just as good as the first two Borderlands.

He means that it's different from the previous Borderlands games because of low gravity and how it looks like compared to the previous games.
I loved claptrap so much that I plan on doing a 4 player co-op game with all claptrap. TIME HAS COME FOR THE ROBOLUTION TO RISE FROM THE ASHES!!!

Tbh borderlands 2 will always have the best story and campaign in the series, even the characters

I’m playing this game right now (it’s my first Borderlands game) and it’s pretty fun
My complaint is that the colors don't go well and the movement makes me nauseous

I don't like calling the pre sequel a spinoff game. I'm just sad so much was retconned from it
Definitely looks like borderlands 3 looked at borderlands 2 and the presequal to figure out what went right and wrong. The only wrong thing they have done so far is no DLC charactets
