Every year the people talking in the beginning get a little quieter
Vanguard is truly winning everything this year
It should be like that every year they've got a horn line like crown and there line has amazing chops devils just play easier stuff so it's cleaner
What blows me away is even 5 years ago, kids with his grip/technique would probably have had that right hand slice coached out of them on the grounds that their sound quality, dynamics, and articulation would suffer. Cameron's technique, for as individual and unique as it is, succeeds and exceeds on all of those fronts.
Christopher Koffel couldn’t agree more! Rennick looks for sound quality, rhythmic accuracy, and obviously how well you can play but he looks above the “prefect hands” philosophy
God his hands are so wierd but his playing is just insane. I never thought I could be so confused and satisfied all at once.
Kinda off topic lol but ik that people are not happy with the uniforms nowadays but scv's this year are so dope
I’m glad corps are going ahead with unis that fit the show design. This activity is art. Everything should reflect the intent behind the piece (show), including the costume IMO. If you’re invested in a corps, learn what their uni is going to be that year - I’m kinda sick of old heads complaining about how they can’t recognize certain corps anymore. Then again I marched in a corps where this has been the philosophy for more than a decade already.
i actually really like their uniforms this year. though i will say the baggy pants makes their marching look a little strange.
Tim Noonan That's fine. However they are going a little too far sometimes. Hell the Blue Devils snare line last year looked like they were wearing dresses once they took off their coats. They looked like the color guard picked up some snares. A bunch look like that. It looks like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy got ahold of their costumes and said "IT'S NOT FLAMBOYANT ENOUGH!!!!!!"
I'm proud of you Cameron. I've enjoyed watching you grow over the past couple of years. You did a fantastic job this year! Hope to see you at PASIC again. I will be in the Drumslinger Percussion booth this year. PLEASE stop by if you are there so we can throw some notes together again. Again, proud of you. Congrats!
It blows me away that ANYONE would have the gall to give this a thumbs down or to make negative comments. Seriously people? Congratulations to you Cameron! No doubt you have put THOUSANDS of hours into developing your extraordinary musical skill. Continue to pursue your passion!!!
you can see how happy he is that he hit the left hand ping at 1:43
i really like how musical the section at 1:09 is. so neat
Video quality is dope Erik. You’re doing a great job documenting once-in-lifetime experiences for members!
The right hand grip of a lot of the SCV snares is so intriguing. Almost French grip
Their main focus is rythmic accuracy and sound quality while playing as relaxed as possible but intense!
TheNapkinOfTruth the reasoning for that is because of Rennick. Instead of focusing on technique like every other core does to look uniform, Rennick cares a lot more about getting the music clean, so he lets the players play with their most comfortable technique. If you watch one of their lot videos, you can see that almost none of the snares share technique, same with tenors.
I find it weird that most of them play with just their wrist and arms, almost no finger... It's just such a high probability that everyone is jacked up at the end of the season.
Gage Martin That's actually a really smart approach and makes a lot of sense. I wonder how long it'll take to catch on. They're certainly doing something right--the whole line sounds like something other than human!
bryan harris the wrist is a lot more effective than you may think :)
This is definitely reminding me of Casey Brohard’s 2005 I&E performance. Similar techniques and great sound quality. Good stuff!
This dude is an absolute beast
I went to school with him. Stony Point High School. Taught me how to hold sticks properly as a mellophone.
trey harrington bruh your class mate ended up on Santa Clara vanguards drumline and they won DCI world champions and they won best percussion DCI AND he won I&E I wish I had extraordinary friends lol
That part at 3:27-3:30 sounds like its plucked straight from the 2015 scv book at the end of the opener
DAMN. Absolutely stellar. BRAVO!!!
One of the many reasons I will always love SCV!!
incredible dynamics and texture
his volume control is incredible
this is insane. thank you
Unbelievable! This is Incredible!
I feel like he's staring into my soul
Hell yes. Great job.
2 years later and im still confused on WTF is going on @ 2:45
11/1/21. Displaced Triplet Strokes.
3:27 how very Rennick of him lol
Ok it’s official, best hands I’ve ever seen.
This was damn excellent.
He ate that 💪🏿💪🏿
Look at the way he stares into the camera
The face of glory
i really want to play this piece for solo and ensemble
excellant
Dats my best frand 😍
flames
Wow! No sabia que Hector Herrera tocaba el snare xD
The tenor solo started similarly...
We developed some similar ideas independently. Although my solo was written first ;)
Nice video 🎶🎶🎶
Beads!!
I hear parts of blast battery battle in this…
That fucking ending holy shit plah-grta grta grta
whats with the camera movement?
Cutie tbh
squirrel from ice age
I would kill to hear this outside rather than indoors tbh
Sick solo tho honestly
HE’S A F***ing GENIUS!!!&-8¥’Loa
!!!
We had a tenor play traditional and a snare play match...
Not sure if you're still reading comments for these but next time you probably shouldn't have motion tracking on their body. Not sure if that's what's going on but that's kinda what it looks like, if I'm wrong let me know. Other than that it's perfect.
Probably doesn’t help this was on a monopod instead of a tripod haha hands were a little shaky plus the in-body stabilization on the A7iii was a little finicky at the time
1:57 how the hell
Is it me or is his posture a little off?
Right? Someone please tell these guys that if they want to play traditional grip it's okay to tilt the drum a little.
Nathan Christian exactly but he made to dci tho so it must be how player wants to plays not how people looks at it
its the eye contact...theres no reason to watch the hands when your soul is saying something
Is it just me, or do his gauntlets look like they're on the wrong hands. Like they're flipped?
Also: does it feel like the camera just slightly follows his body's movement?
this is my tech
I don’t suppose there’s a transcription of this anywhere?
Ridiculous sound quality.
bruh this dude look like sheen from jimmy neutron lmao, great performance by the way
Reese infection
BEADS
Those uniforms are not male friendly. The scarf and medaleon looks like something my grandmother would wear.
Doesn't sound so musical
Really? There are so many different implements used/ heights difference/ plenty of different rhythms/ dynamics. Just because it’s fast doesn’t make it not musical
couldnt really here anything. just cant get over him mouthbreathing while playing.
Guy who plays crazy stuff:🔥🔥🔥
Guy who plays crazy stuff without breaking a sweat:🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He makes it look easy
sdjmalik woah there don't act like the stuff you do is easy. Because it's extremely difficult!
Bet you could do this
bruh you can do this easy money you deserve to be in dci 🤩
Sdjmalik looks like a fucking pervert when he plays.
