- The Bob's Burgers Pilot was never aired publicly, and used to only be found on the Bob's Burgers Season 1 DVD. The only reason for this pilot to exist was so the Network could get a good idea on what the show actually was. Even though the first Episode and the Pilot are similar in story and structure, there were several differences in dialogue, designs, and more. Because there were no other videos like this that I could find, I decided to sync up the Pilot and First Episode, so we could get a general idea on what was changed.

Changing Daniel to Tina but keeping the same voice was a stroke of brilliance. The surrealistic character it resulted in is just TV gold.
Especially since Tina's perverted nature wouldn't have ever worked as Daniel the way it does on the show.
@@camtheman7266 which is a weird double standard, because some of the stuff that Tina does is pretty damn creepy and invasive toward the boys. It's very funny, but it's kind of stupid that it would be viewed as less ok if the character were a boy. We all say nowadays that stuff like Revenge of the Nerds isn't ok for some of the same stuff (stuff like stealing panties vs stealing an athlete's jockstrap) that Tina does in most episodes.
@@thareelhelloagain For sure. Over the years they really have made her an extremely thirsty teenager who is bound to become that chick in college who just sleeps with everyone. She basically talks about it in front of her parents. It's probably a reflection on how little attention she gets from Bob and uses her sexuality to compensate by both filling a void of neglect and getting back by embarrassing him in the process. Which would be pretty deep for the show if it was on purpose to begin with.

Fun fact: The Bob's Burgers was originally going to be about the family being cannibals and actually serving human flesh in their burgers. Loren Bouchard (creator) had this idea initially as he assumed cartoons geared toward older audiences required something dark or shocking to the plot. Although it was abandoned, it was still pretty cool that they referenced the idea in the first episode.

Call me soft but I’m glad it’s just a family sitcom that doesn’t try to be edgy. Family guy, The Simpsons, American dad. Their jokes all stem from families that hate each other and shock comedy. This one actually makes jokes and they care about eachother
Yeah not to mention it doesn't make you disturbed it makes you comfy as well as can teach subtle lessons but not pushing it

It’s quite obvious that Tina is clearly a transexual character. She has a male voice, obsesses over her breast size & other fem aspects about herself, & she makes off hand comments that hint at her being transexual. So I can assume she was originally Daniel prior to her transition since the pilot originally had her as a male character.
Either way, this shouldn’t be so surprising considering that Tina is transexual.

Linda is also voiced by a male and I thought that was just how it was, and that all her comments were just her being awkward and maybe on the spectrum(?) But that is a good theory. Do you know any quotes off the top of your head that hint at her being transgender? Cause this is actually very interesting and Id like to know more.

You know, the scene where Linda is grinding the meat was originally in the video showcasing the original concept about the family being cannibals. The only thing missing in these two scenes now that they've moved away from that concept is that trashcan filled with human body parts.
I'm glad they canned the cannibal concept early on. It would've just made the show unnecessarily dark and edgy

some jokes in the pilot made me laugh but i still prefer the more light hearted version we currently have. call me soft, but its just nice to have a family sitcom where most gags come from the family absolutely despising each other.

This is the first pilot I have ever seen that has had voice acting and writing so good, they actually made the first airing episode match up with it.

Just happy they didn't go with the cannibal idea.Back in the day people stayed up very late to watch Adult swim and most of the shows were good,but some got really dark.I think the person who came up with the cannibal idea was a person who watched too much adult swim
I remember them saying, fox didn't liked the idea anyway, but that the cannibal idea would've been boring pretty fast, with a normal family they'd have way more stories because they can do basically anything, a show about cannibals would've always needed something related to it and so they went with the normal, relatable Belchers

It’s nice to see a awkward teenage girl in media since there are different stories to tell. For instance, one episode is about Tina’s love for pony action figures. She goes to a big convention but is scammed by adult men who are obsessed with the figurines. If Tina was a boy, this episode would have focused on “man it’s weird you like ponies” and probably taken an anti bullying edge. That’s been done before, so many times.

two things i liked more in the original, their logo had a bit more style, and calling him "rash balls" with the robot megaphone was pretty funny
It's amazing to see how much the animation and character designs have changed between the pilot and the first episode of the series.

With the context of the show originally supposed to be a Hannibal Lecter style burger place the mysterious music makes sense now. I always wondered why they used it as a sound but after seeing the original concept and now these two played together it makes sense now.

Honestly, unlike the other comments, I love the pilot version’s concept. I still love the version we actually have, but having a plot as crazy as cannibals is something I’d enjoy watching play out in their universe. I know the Bob’s Burgers we actually have now references the original concept a few times, but I hope these two concepts and universes collide.
The part with the body parts in the trash can didn’t make it to the full pilot phase. There is only a 2 minute black-&-white proof of concept vid of it (far as I know)
